I woke up on the third day with Pete curled up against my back, spooning with me. I wasn’t used to sleeping in the same bed as anyone else. It took me a minute to remember that he had slept in Luna with me. Once I remembered who was in my bed I relaxed and rolled over to face him. He was still asleep. He looked relaxed and peaceful. His blond hair spilled down over his face and shoulders. I was still trying to get used to seeing his hair long and blond. I didn’t dislike it, I just wasn’t used to it, but it was growing on me.

I closed my eyes and snuggled into his chest. Without waking up he tightened his arms around me. That was the first time in a very long time I had been held and was content with being held. I drifted back to sleep. The next time I woke up it was to Pete stirring.

He opened his eyes and smiled at me. “Good morning,” he murmured.

“Good morning.”

He tightened his arms around me and said, “This is nice, waking up like this.”

“Yeah it is.” I said as I nuzzled my face into his neck.

We were on our sides facing each other. He rolled us over so I was on my back and he was half on me, half on the bed. He lifted his head to look at me. He smiled a soft smile and leaned in to kiss me. This time the kiss got deep and passionate. Hands wandered over both of us. Mine found the skin at the hem of his tee-shirt. My fingers ran lightly across his back. He moaned into the kiss. His lips left mine and left a trail of kisses across my jaw to my neck, stopping to suck lightly on the skin behind my ear.

We stopped only because we heard the children outside. They were all up.

“We should probably get up and feed them.” He said.

I nodded my agreement, too breathless to trust my voice. He got up and pulled his jeans on. I tossed a pair of pants on before opening the side door to Luna and greeting the kids. Bronx gave his father a significant look when he saw the two of us emerging from Luna.

We got the kids fed and ready for the day. Our only plan for this week was to spend as much time together as we could. We went back to the beach for a little while. Then at lunch time we went into town and ate. After lunch, I took them to a candy store I knew about and let each of the kids pick out a treat. After that, we walked around town a little bit more before going back to camp.

When we got back to camp, both of the boys had some school work they needed to complete and upload by the end of the day. Pete helped Saint with his work. Bronx said he was fine and didn’t need any help. I put Marvel down for a nap in Luna and let Fred and George sleep with her.

I took a shower while she napped and the boys did their school work. When both boys were done with school, the three of them went and took showers too. Pete said Marvel could wait until the next day to get cleaned up.

The five of us ended up cuddled up on my bed together and read chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the book. The kids were really getting into the story. They had all seen the movies, but as always, the books were better.

Dinner was easy enough. We made tacos and let everyone fix them how they wanted them. We spent that evening around the campfire with hot chocolate for the kids. Pete and I had an adult beverage.

The kids went down early leaving us with just Bronx. He’s a good kid and we did a lot of talking about places he wants to go someday.

Bronx headed to bed after a while leaving Pete and I alone. We didn’t stay up too long after Bronx went to bed. We were both tired too. I joined him in his camper that night. And just like the night before, we didn’t feel any need to rush anything. We just wanted to hold each other.

The next morning I woke up early. I didn’t want to get out of bed because I didn’t want to move out of Pete’s arms. For the first time in more than six years I was enjoying being touched by someone.

I thought I heard one of the kids outside so I got up and left Pete sleeping. I stepped out of the camper to find it was Bronx that was up before everyone else.

“Good morning Moon.” He greeted me.

“Good morning!” I said as I headed towards Luna. The cats needed to be fed and let out. And I needed some Motrin. I had woken up with a sore shoulder and a stiff neck.

It was cold and foggy that morning. I checked the weather app on my phone and saw that it was going to be cool and cloudy with a chance for rain.

“It looks like we might have some bad weather today. Think the kids will still want to go to the beach?” I asked him.

“I don’t know. But I don’t think I wanna get in the water if it’s gonna stay cold.” He said.

“We’ll ask them when they get up. I’m not sure if they’ll have much fun if they can’t get in the water. Are you hungry?”

“I can wait for everyone else to get up. But do you think I can go in the RV and get something to drink without waking Dad up?”

“I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, but I also have stuff in Luna. Help yourself.” I offered to him.

The little kids got up a while later and I got them set with juice and some fruit until Pete got up. Once everyone was awake I offered to make pancakes and bacon for breakfast.

It started to rain while we were eating. Everyone scampered to get under an awning to stay dry while eating. Since the weather was bad we decided to stay in camp that morning. Pete got the boys set up to do their schoolwork in the RV and I took Marvel to play with the boys in Luna.

Once the boys were done with their schoolwork we read some more. They asked for multiple chapters. We had made it almost halfway through the book.

The weather stayed wet and cool all day. We didn’t make it to the beach at all. Instead we read, played a board game and just hung out.

The Motrin I had taken earlier for my sore shoulder and neck had worn off. After dinner, I was feeling the pain as bad as it had been that morning. I kept rubbing my neck to try and loosen it up. I had gotten up to grab some more pain relievers and was standing in front of Luna’s side door. Pete had noticed and approached me.

“Are you ok? You keep rubbing your neck.” He asked me.

“Just a stiff neck. Think I slept on it wrong.” I told him. “I’ll put some Tiger Balm on it before bed.”

“Here, let me help you.” He said as he moved to stand in front of me. He started to rub my right shoulder.

“Oh my God. Right there.” I practically moaned.

“I can feel the knots in your shoulder.” He put a bit more pressure on one of them and it made me whimper. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

“You didn’t. Not really. It’s just right there is where all the pain is coming from. Good God your hands are strong.”

He chuckled at that and said, “I’m a guitarist, they should be strong.”

“Oh, that feels so good.” I murmured as my eyes closed and I leaned my head to the left giving him better access.

“Has this been hurting all day?” He asked as he started rubbing on both shoulders.

“Mmhmm” I hummed as I dropped my head forward. He moved closer so I could rest my forehead against his chest.

“You should have said something.”

“Didn’t think to. Haven’t had anyone to rub my shoulders in years.”

“You do now.” He said as he leaned in and kissed the top of my head.

I looked up and smiled at that. I did have someone now. I leaned in so my lips were close to his ear and said, “Tell you what. You get these knots out of my shoulder and I’ll pay you back tonight after the kids are asleep.”

He turned his head to look at me but only gave me an intrigued look.

“You’ve read my first book. You remember the scene where Olivia gives Michael some ‘special’ attention.” I looked him in the eye as I said that. The look that flashed across his face told me he remembered. “You don’t think that I made all that up do you?”

His grip on my shoulders tightened involuntarily as he realized what I was saying. Basically he was going to get a blow job if he rubbed my shoulders.

“You should sit down and let me get these knots worked out.” He said in a husky voice.

I leaned in and kissed him, humming lightly into his lips to remind him of what was written in that scene. He deepened the kiss before letting me sit in my chair. He stood behind me and worked on making me feel better. He rubbed on me until he had worked every knot out of my muscles.

The light rain that had persisted all day had finally stopped and we were able to have a fire and roast marshmallows. I was comfortable sitting in my chair next to Pete, George was in my lap and Marvel was in the chair on the other side of me. Bronx and Saint were on the other side of the fire with Fred in Bronx’s lap. We were telling stories to the kids. Nothing too scary, just entertaining.

The little ones were both in bed and asleep by 9pm. Bronx wasn’t ready for bed so he stayed up with us for a few hours. After the littles went to bed, I remembered I had gifts for both Pete and Bronx.

“I have something for both of you.” I told them as I got up and went to get the gifts I had for them. I came out with a couple of packages in my hands.

“Bronx, this one's for you.” I said as I handed him the smallest package. “And this is for you to give your Mom.” I told him as I handed him one of the bigger boxes.

“For my Mom?” he asked, surprised.

“Yeah, I thought she’d like it so I got it for you to give to her. You can open it and take a look. Tell me if I was wrong.”

He carefully opened that one first. It was a wooden box about 12 by 12 inches square, and about 5 inches deep. On the top of it, it said ‘The Ross Family’. Inside were a set of hand blown glass Christmas tree ornaments. Each one was hand painted with their names. Evan, Ashlee, Bronx, Jagger, and Iggy.

“Moon, she’s gonna love it. Thank you so much.” He got up and hugged me.

“Now open your gift.” I told him as I hugged him back.

He opened the other smaller box. “Is this really a pocket knife?” He asked excitedly.

“I got your Dad’s permission. Every camper or hiker should have one. It’s a very useful tool. I’ll teach you how to take care of it. How to clean it and sharpen it. But you have to be careful and you can’t take it to school with you when you do go. I don’t know where I’ll be on your birthday, so this is an early birthday present.”

I turned to Pete and handed him his gift. It was the same size as the box I had given Bronx to give to his Mom. This one had ‘The Wentz Family’ painted on top. Inside were ornaments hand painted for each of them. Pete, Bronx, Saint, and Marvel. When he opened it he smiled that sweet smile I’ve been seeing a lot of. “Thank you. They're beautiful.”

“There’s a shop in North Pole called the Santa Claus House. It’s Christmas there all year long. I couldn’t help myself when I saw the family ornament sets. I got one for my Mom too.”

“I’m gonna put these in the camper. Thank you again.” Pete said as he got up and put the box in a safe place.

Bronx stayed up with us for a few hours before he was ready for bed. We said goodnight to him. Once he was in his tent I looked at Pete and asked, “You ready for bed?”

“I’m ready to crawl into bed with you.” He answered, giving me a sexy smile.

“I owe you for the shoulder rubs.” I teased him.

“I’m not gonna say no to that. But you do know I would’ve rubbed your shoulder without payment, right?” He asked me. “We did say we were going slow.”

“This is slow enough.” I told him as I stood up and offered him my hand. He took it and got up. Before we took a step he wrapped his arms around me and just hugged me and nuzzled his face into my neck. He gave me a small kiss on the neck.

“I should probably tell you something.” He pulled back so he could look me in the eyes. “Meagan left a little over a year ago. And we weren’t exactly, well, she wasn’t interested in being intimate. It’s been a while for me.”

“How long?” I asked. I wasn’t judging at all. I hadn’t had a lover since my ex.

“About eighteen months.” He confessed.

“It’s been over seven years for me.” I told him.

“Seven years? But, what about your cowboy in Oklahoma?”

“I told you, he was never my boyfriend. I haven’t been with anyone since my divorce. And we weren’t intimate for the last year or so. I’m a little out of practice.” I gave him a small self deprecating smile.

“I’ve been told it’s like riding a bike. Once you know how, you never really forget.” He said with a sly smile.

I pulled him into Luna and found out he was right. Once you know how, you never forget. After making sure to pay him back for the massage, he made sure I was taken care of too. He has very talented lips and fingers.

As we laid in bed after talking, Pete asked me to come back with them to Los Angeles.

“You should come home with us. Stay for a week. Stay until we have to leave in a few weeks. Stay as long as you want. But I really wanna spend more time with you. I wanna take you out on a real date. I wanna have you in my king size bed. Please.”

“Ok.” I lifted my head from his chest so I could see his face. “I can come down for a few weeks. I want more time with you too.”

His smile was full of affection. He kissed me again. His kisses were still wow.

Laying there in his arms I realized just how long it had been since I had had this. I hadn’t felt like I needed anyone else in my life. I was ok being on my own. But I had missed this. Not just the sex, but the intimacy. The talking, the kissing, and the sharing of our thoughts and feelings. I realized that I missed having someone in my life that I could talk to like I did with him. And I wanted more of it.
