The next day we took the kids and went to visit the Stump family. The Trohman family were there too. The kids were all happy to see their friends and they all went off to play. Except for Bronx, he stayed with the adults and played on his phone.

Patrick was the one that greeted us at the door when we got there. He had a huge, happy smile on his face. “Pete! Moon! Come on in. Congratulations, you two.” He hugged both of us as we entered.

“Thanks, Patrick.” Pete said with a grin.

“Hi Patrick. It’s good to see you.” I said as I got my hug.

Patrick told the kids where the other kids were and they went to join their friends. Patrick ushered Pete, Bronx, and I into the living room. Joe, Elisa, and Marie were waiting for us.

“Congratulations!” They all pretty much said at the same time.

“Oh, Moon! I’m so happy you guys are getting married!” Marie said as she came up and hugged me. She and I had gotten pretty close when we were traveling together.

“Thanks Marie.” I said as I returned her hug.

“We have to celebrate. Come in, sit down and I’ll get Patrick to open the champagne.” Elisa said.

Before either Pete or I could say something, Patrick was coming out with a bottle and glasses for everyone. He popped the cork and started pouring everyone a glass.

Once everyone had a glass Patrick raised his and said, “To the happy couple. May you find the happiness you both want and deserve.”

“Here, here.” The rest said and everyone except me took a sip. I just lifted my glass in the toast and then set it down. But both Elisa and Marie noticed.

“Is there something else we should be celebrating?” Elisa asked.

“You didn’t tell them?” I asked Pete. I was surprised he hadn’t told them.

He shook his head. “No, I didn’t.” He grinned at me. “You tell them.”

“I’m pregnant.” I said to the group.

“Oh my God! That’s wonderful.” Elisa said and hugged me.

“Dude! Why didn’t you say something!?! That’s great news!” Patrick said as he shook Pete's hand and slapped him on the back.

“A baby! I’m so happy for you!” Marie exclaimed.

“Mazel Tov!” Joe said.

I got hugged by everyone and so did Pete.

“Another Fall Out Baby is on its way.” Pete announced.

Joe took my glass of champagne from me and downed it. He winked at me and said, “Can’t let it go to waste.”

“So, tell us all the details. How did he propose?” Marie asked.

“Well, sorry to disappoint but, he just asked and I said yes. No huge proposal, no ring to show off.”

“Yet.” Pete interrupted. “No ring yet. But we’re going out tomorrow to find you one.”

“Do you know when you’re due?” Elisa asked.

I shook my head. “I need to see my doctor when we get home. But, I think it will be in February.”

“When do you guys plan on getting married?” Patrick asked.

“Soon. Fall if we can. We want to be married before the baby gets here.” Pete answered. “She’d like to do it at her Dad’s farm. And I like that idea. It’s beautiful there and the spot she mentioned is, well it would be a beautiful spot to get married.”

They had more questions for us about when and where. We told them everything we knew so far. But they were all so happy for us.

We spent the afternoon and late into the evening there. Elisa cooked a big dinner for everyone. It was very enjoyable to visit with them. It had been months since I’d seen them all.

“So, Moony, are you happy about the baby?” Marie asked me.

I smiled and said, “Oh yes. We’re very happy about the baby. We’ve been trying since Christmas. This one is very wanted.” Without thinking I moved my hand to my abdomen.

“I didn’t know you guys were trying!” Patrick interjected. “Why didn’t you tell me?” He looked at Pete when he asked.

“Sorry, man. We didn’t tell anyone.” Pete told him. “Not even Mom.”

“That’s because of me.” I said as an apology for Pete keeping something from his best friend. “Not being able to conceive in my first marriage caused a lot of problems. We never did and it was a big part of why we divorced. I went through a lot of questions about when we would and why not yet. And accusations about being... broken and inadequate.” I confessed. “I didn’t want the expectations that come with people knowing. Or the questions. So, we just kept it to ourselves.”

“I can understand that. It was bad enough when we had just gotten married and my family was insistent that we needed to get pregnant right away. My mother asked every single day.” Elisa said. “It was exhausting.”

Marie and Elisa spent the next few hours talking about their pregnancies and births. They asked about how I was feeling and what symptoms I was having. It was interesting and scary. At one point Patrick actually told Elisa to stop exaggerating and scaring me.

We headed back to the Wentz home later than we should have. The kids were ready for bed and Marvel fell asleep on the drive back. But it had been a very nice evening with friends that loved us and our family.

We got them to bed and then headed to bed ourselves. As we changed and got settled we talked.

“I talked with Mom and tomorrow, we’re going to leave the kids here with her and Dad.” He smiled his shit eating grin at me, “I’m taking you away for the night.” Pete informed me.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked as I climbed into bed and sat waiting for him to join me. The thought of time with just him was very appealing. We didn’t get it very often, and I loved the time we did get together.

Pete was moving around the room changing and putting his things away. “First, ring shopping. I want to make sure you like the ring I give you. I want to pick it out together.” He stopped at the end of the bed and looked at me. “Then I’m gonna take you to lunch. Something delicious and indulgent.” He pulled off his pants and sat on the end of the bed to pull on a clean pair of sweatpants. “And then,” he stood up and moved to his side of the bed, climbing in, “we’re staying the night at The Four Seasons downtown. We’re going to stay there and let Grandma and Grandpa have alone time with the kids. And we get some alone time together.” He wiggled his eyebrows with that last sentence. He slid over to the middle of the bed and reached for me.

“Oh? I could use some uninterrupted alone time with you.” I said. It had been a few days since we had been intimate. He wasn’t comfortable enough at my mom’s place to do much. “Should I bring anything special?”

“Oh, yes, bring them. Pack anything you want to.” He said as he pulled me close and gave me a preview of what was to come the next night.

I woke up later than normal the next morning. Pete was already up and out of bed. When I looked at the clock I was surprised to see it was after nine. I don’t normally sleep so late. I’m used to being the first one up.

I got up and headed downstairs. Everyone had already eaten breakfast, but Pete and Dale were still lingering over coffee.

“Morning,” I said as I entered the kitchen.

“Good morning!” Dale said brightly.

“Morning, Honey. You must have been tired. You slept in.” Pete greeted me. I just nodded because I was tired. I was feeling a little ill to be honest.

“Can I get you anything?” Dale offered.

“No thank you. I’m not hungry.” I said as I got myself a glass of water.

“You have to have something. You can’t starve yourself. Think of the baby.” She sounded just like my mother.

“The baby’s the one that doesn’t want me to eat right now. I don’t think it would stay down if I did.” I was feeling very nauseous.

“You ok?” Pete asked worriedly.

“Mmhmm,” I hummed as I took a drink of water. “Just feeling a little nauseous. I think that’s normal.”

“It is. With this one,” she pointed at Pete, but smiled affectionately at her son, “I couldn’t eat anything until after noon. With Hilary I was sick for months. And with Drew, I ate everything in sight. It’s just your hormones, it’ll pass. But you let me know if you get hungry before you guys leave and I’ll make you something.”

“Thank you, Dale.”

“Are you up for our plans today?” Pete asked me. He was being so sweet and thoughtful.

I smiled gently at him and said, “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Just give me a few minutes to wake up. When do you want to leave?”

“We can leave anytime you’re ready. Don’t rush.” He reached over and put his hand on mine. “If you don’t feel up to it, we can just stay here.”

“No. We never get alone time. I’ll be ready to go in an hour or so. I want a shower first and then I’ll finish packing us up.” I finished my glass of water and went to get ready for the day.

Pete got up and came upstairs with me. As I got ready to take my shower, he got our things out and packed up his stuff and asked what I wanted to take. I pulled out a change of clothes and put them on the bed. I went to take my shower. I did feel better after and was ready to go. When I got back to our room, Pete had everything ready to go. I got dressed and ready. We left his parents house for a full 24 hours of alone time.

He was borrowing his fathers car while we were there. As he promised, he took me ring shopping. He took me to Tiffany’s. We looked around for a little bit before the sales clerk came to help us. She recognized him and was excited to help him. Not me so much, but it is what it is.

“Hello! I’m Brittany, how can I help you today?”

Pete flashed his famous smile at her. “We’re looking for an engagement ring.”

Her smile faulted a little. “I’ll be happy to help you find something. Did you have anything in mind? Cut? Karat? Style?”

“Well, whatever she wants.” He said as he pointed at me. She looked at me and gave me the once over.

“I would like something that isn’t set too high, and can be worn daily without fear of losing the stone. I’m very active and we have children. I like solitaire settings.”

She was very helpful and showed us countless rings. But the one I liked the most and the one we ended up buying was fairly simple. It was a two karat, round diamond solitaire with tiny diamonds set side by side around the platinum band. It was bigger than I had planned to pick, but Pete kept saying the ones I was looking at were too small. He wanted me to get something even bigger than what I picked. But I didn’t want anything that big. We picked out our wedding bands at the same time. My engagement ring and my wedding ring were a set. Pete found a wedding band he liked so we got it at the same time.

I got very lucky because they had my size there and we didn’t have to order it. We left with a small blue bag with three rings in it. I was willing to wear my ring out of the store, but he wanted to be the one to put it on my finger so we waited until later.

As we left the store, he asked me if I thought I could eat. I was starving by this time and told him so. He took me to a very nice restaurant. Lunch was delicious but I might be a bit biased since I was so hungry.

Even though we took our time, it was still too early for us to check in at the hotel. So Pete took me around Chicago and showed me the city he grew up in. I had never spent much time in this area and never in the city. It was interesting seeing the city this way. He showed me the things in his city that he liked and thought I’d like. When it was late enough, we checked into our room.

Since we didn’t have a lot of bags, we didn’t take the staff up on being taken to our room. We took the keycards and went up on our own. We found the room and Pete let us in. It was a very nice room. We looked around when we got in. It had all the usual amenities.

Pete put our bags down and pulled out the box with my new ring in it. He stood in front of me and held my hand.

“I know you’ve already said yes. But I want to ask you properly.” He grinned at me and then lowered himself down and got on one knee. He opened the box, holding it out to me he said, “Grace, I love you. This past year, since we met for the first time, has been one of the best years of my life. I love you. The kids love you. You’re having my baby. Please complete my family. Will you please marry me?”

I just looked at him down on the floor. I kind of wanted to make him sweat a bit. But I just smiled at him and said, “Yes, of course I’ll marry you. Now please get up. I know your knees can’t take that.”

He didn’t get up right away. Instead, he removed the ring from its box and placed it on my finger. Then he kissed my hand. He tried to get up, but I was right, his knees couldn’t take that for long. I gave him a hand up. Smiling and giggling just a little he stood up. He tenderly cupped my face and kissed me.

“So, how are you feeling now?” He asked me after the kiss.

“Fine, I feel fine. Good enough to celebrate our engagement.” I flashed him a smile.

He returned my smile, but said, “We have lots of time. I don’t want to rush anything tonight. I wanna take it slow. I want to watch you come undone.” He kissed me sweetly, softly, and it was as wow as our first kiss had been.

He proceeded to slowly kiss and undress me. He touched and kissed every inch of my skin. He had me worked up by the time I was fully undressed. He was still fully dressed. Unfair in my opinion. I liked naked Pete. So fucking sexy.

Once he had me naked and ready for him, he quickly undressed and joined me in the bed. We took our time and fully celebrated our engagement. He made sure I came undone a few times. He has very talented lips, fingers and other appendages.

After he had completely satisfied me, we talked more. “Last night, you said something about names for Little Bitty. What were you thinking?” Pete asked me as we laid in bed together.

“I was thinking that I’m Moon, so the baby could be the stars or the planets.” I said. “I like Jupiter for a boy. Or Saturn or maybe Orion. Maybe Star or Cassiopeia for a girl. Something along those lines.”

“Star, I like Star. And Jupiter.” He said thoughtfully.

“I do too. But we still have time to think about it.” I wasn’t concerned with deciding on a name right now.

Pete only rolled over to lay half on me and pillowed his head on my shoulder. This was a position we both enjoyed. And he wasn’t going to be able to lay on me like that for much longer. He rested his hand over the baby.

We talked a bit about how the kids were taking the news. Both about the baby and about the marriage. All in all, they were good with both things.

We stayed that way until the grumbling on my stomach was too loud to ignore.

“I’m starving again.” I told him. “And I need to pee.”

He just chuckled and got off me. I got up to use the bathroom. When I got back he asked what I wanted from room service. We didn’t bother getting dressed, we just put the robes on and called down for some food.

We had dinner and then we went back to bed. We didn’t sleep, we made love again. And then again. And we did make use of the adult toys. It was an amazing night together. We got a chance to really be together. We talked about anything and everything that came to mind.

We eventually fell asleep. I slept like the dead. I had a feeling I was just beginning to feel the effects of the pregnancy. When we got up the next morning, I was back to feeling nauseous. I skipped breakfast, but made sure Pete got something to eat. I sipped on a glass of orange juice.

“I wish we could stay another day. We’ve never not had at least one of the kids in the house. It was nice to be loud and not worry about waking them up.” I said as we sat at the table in the room and he ate.

“I know, me too.” He said between bites of his eggs. “This was really special. I’m glad we did this.” He smiled tenderly and reached over to take my hand.

“I think we need to start looking at the calendar and pick a date soon.” I said. I knew that we were going to have to get a jump on planning the wedding.

“September 16th.” He said without hesitation.

“September 16th? Why that date?” I asked him.

He looked at me in surprise. “That’s the one year anniversary of us meeting in Pismo Beach. It was the day I first kissed you. The last first kiss I’ll ever have.” He grinned at the face I was making. “And it was a fucking great kiss.”

I realized he was right. It would be our one year anniversary. “Oh my God, I hadn’t thought of that. Yeah, September 16th. We can’t get married on any other day.”

“And, I want to get married on your Dad’s farm.”

“You do? Really?” I asked. I wanted that so bad, but it wasn’t something I was going to be stubborn about.

“Yes, really.

“But, Pete, that’s only like seven weeks away. I don’t know if we can plan a wedding on the other side of the country that fast. I’m not sure I could plan a wedding at home that fast. I guess we could elope this year and do the big wedding next year.” That thought was disappointing.

“We can make it work. I think the first thing we need to do is make sure your Dad is willing to let us get married there.”

I knew Dad would never have a problem with that. But I agreed to call him. I did it while we were still at the breakfast table. Dad, of course, said we could and he was willing to house as many of our guests as he could. He congratulated us heartaly and cried when we told him about the baby.

“Ok, location secured.” I said after I hung up with Dad. My father was honored that we wanted to get married on the farm.

“We should call your Mom and let her know.” Pete said as he cleaned off the table and put the tray out in the hall.

“I’ll call her right now. And we’ll tell her about the baby.”

Pete only nodded and I placed the call to my Mom. She was so happy about both the wedding and the baby that she cried harder than Dale had. She and Ryan congratulated us and offered to help anyway they could since we were on such a tight timeline.

We left the hotel shortly after the call to my Mom. We got back to the house and the kids were the first to greet us at the door.

“Hi Dad. Hi Moon. Did you guys have a good night?” Bronx asked us.

“Yes we did. But we missed you guys.” Pete told his son.

“Moony, I missed you last night.” Marvel told me as she hugged me.

“Didn’t you have fun with Grandma and Grandpa?” I asked her.

“Yeah, but I missed you.”

“I missed you too, Miss. Marvelous.” I told her as I returned her hug.

We rounded up his mom and dad and told them we had decided on a date and place to get married. Both were excited about it. Dale asked what she could do to help. I told her I wasn’t sure yet. But I would let her know if I needed anything.

By this time, I was hungry and needed to eat. Dale fussed over me and made sure I had a nice meal. After that, Pete and I started to make phone calls. He called the guys and told them when and where. We assured them we would find places for everyone to stay in the area. I called Scott and Lisa to let them know. And I asked Lisa to be my Maid of Honor. She squealed her yes so loud Pete could hear her on the other side of the room. And then I dropped the baby bomb. Another loud squeal from Lisa with a “We told you! We told you you were pregnant!”

That evening was going to be our last with his family. We made the most of it with a wonderful family dinner. Dale and Peter were excitedly talking about the wedding.

“Would it be alright if I gave my Dad your phone number, Dale? He would like it if you and Peter stayed at the house with us. We’re looking to see if we can find some houses in the area to rent so people have a place close to stay. But Dad said something about wanting all the parents to stay in the house together. He wants a chance for everyone to meet and bond.”

“Of course you can. I‘d like to get to know your folks before the wedding.” She told me.

That night after everyone had gone to bed, Pete and I laid together in bed. “You know, if Dad has his way, everyone will spend at least a week there just visiting, hanging out on the farm and then have the wedding.” I said.

Pete chuckled and said, “That actually sounds like fun. I bet I could talk the guys into it. And we could take advantage of all the extra hands and get them to help set everything up.”

“I’m going to look into hiring a wedding or party planner to help me. I won’t be able to do this on my own. And I want your input too. I want lots of flowers, and some good food, but everything else can be simple.”

“I just want to have a good day, and have fun with our family and friends.” He said as we snuggled down next to me.

“Me too.”
