Aleena shuffled down the sidewalk, pushing a stroller and carrying a backpack on her back.

She had been dreading this day and wished her situation would change so it wouldn't have to come to this.

She was going to give up her three little angels today.

The babies' dad had dumped Aleena as soon as she told him the news.

Her family wasn't thrilled with the babies either once they finally found out about them after she had given birth to them in her bathroom’s shower stall.

Of course, they refused to help her with her children even though she was willing to do her best to support them. Not because they couldn't afford the triplets. It was simply because she was the black sheep of the family now.

Aleena tried to take care of the babies on her own for the first few weeks, but she wasn't able to. She couldn't work, finish highschool, and raise triplets alone. Her waitress job certainly couldn't provide enough for her babies and everyone told her it would be best to give the babies to someone who could take care of them.

Except for her now ex-boyfriend. He had suggested a more permanent solution, which Aleena wasn't thrilled with.

The stroller hit a crack on the sidewalk.

Aleena glanced down to see if the babies woke up.

Sonic huffed and raised his spines in his sleep.

Sonia was still fast asleep as if nothing happened.

Manic furrowed his brow, dropping his long forehead spines further into his face.

They finally arrived at the hospital.

The Mobian badger nurse looked up at Aleena as she came in. “Are you the one who called earlier?”

“Yes, Ma'am,” Aleena said.

The nurse walked over and looked in the stroller. “Aww, they're so adorable.”

“Thank you.” Aleena said. She looked at her triplets one last time.

Sonic and Sonia were fast asleep.

Manic squeaked and stared up at Aleena. He smiled at her, completely unaware this could very well be the last time he saw her.

“I'm sorry, Manic.” Aleena said, voice shaking. “I wish I could keep you all. You and your siblings look after each other, okay?”

Manic chirped and reached to touch her hand. He stared up at her; his big, brown eyes wide and bright.

Aleena let him hold her hand for a moment. “I'm sorry.”

Aleena kissed the babies goodbye. She gave the nurse the stroller, along with their baby bag, and a paper with the babies’ information written on it.

“They'll be okay, miss.” The nurse said. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Aleena hesitated. “I can't take care of them.”

The nurse nodded.

Aleena walked away and started crying. She couldn't bear to look back. She just hoped they wouldn't split the babies up so they could at least have each other.

Manic whimpered and snuggled between his siblings.

Sonic didn't appreciate being poked by Manic's spines and huffed at his little brother.

The nurse ruffled Manic's spines. “Aww, it'll be okay, sweetie. You'll find a good home.”
