Manic drew a guitar on his son, Jaxx’s, arm with a black body art pen.

Jaxx looked like Manic, except he had dark emerald green fur and spines and hazel eyes like his mom.

Jaxx's twin sister, Jazz, watched. Jazz had brown eyes like Manic and a slightly darker fur and spine color than Manic.

Manic put the cap back on a body art pen. “Now you have sleeves like me.”

Jaxx and Jazz stared at their newly decorated arms in amazement.

“Cool!” Jazz exclaimed.

Jade walked in, holding their newborn daughter, Elodie.

Jaxx rushed over to Jade. “I got sleeves like Dad now, Ma.”

“Except mine are real tattoos.” Manic said, getting up.

Jade gave Manic a look. “You said the quiet part out loud.”

“Sorry.” Manic said.

“When can I get real ones?” Jaxx asked.

“When you're older and are sure you won't change your mind.” Manic replied. “But you are going to work with me tomorrow so I can pierce yours and Jazz’s ears and Aunt Sonia will pick you up.”

“Now, come on.” Jade said. “We have to help with Grandma Aleena’s and Grandpa Shadow's anniversary dinner. Your cousins are already there.”

Manic held Jaxx’s and Jazz’s hands. “Okay, you two, don't tease Uncle Sonic about not getting in the pool.” He said, walking the kids to the door.

Jade, carrying Elodie, followed Manic.

“He's afraid of water after nearly drowning when he was your age.” Manic replied.

“Yes, Dad.” Jaxx and Jazz said.

Manic and Shadow sat beside the pool, watching the kids play.

Manic looked at Shadow, who barely looked any older than he did ten years ago, and chuckled.

“I know, I barely look older.” Shadow said. “It's not that amusing.”

“Anyway, thanks for encouraging me to open up to Jade.” Manic said. “I wouldn't have my family otherwise.”

Shadow glanced at Manic. “You really want to thank me?” He asked. He smirked. “Tell your kids they can't draw on my shoes.”

Manic laughed.
