Manic was sleeping soundly until…
"Wake up!" Sonic yelled.
Manic gasped and jolted awake. "Not cool." He said, looking at the clock. "What're you doing in my room at six in the morning?"
"I'm sorry about that. Anyway, I had the maid make breakfast for us." Sonic said. "You need to eat before training."
"Training?" Manic asked. "For what?"
"Self defense." Sonic replied. "You're gonna need it."
Manic slowly got out of bed. "What's for breakfast?"
Sonic snickered. "You know you have a hole in your pants, right?"
Manic rolled his eyes. "I barely wear pants. So what?"
"Well, you're in a bad mood." Sonic replied. "Maybe your favorite breakfast will cheer you up."
"If you say chili dogs, that's your favorite breakfast." Manic said, stretching his arms. "Seriously, dude, how do you not get sick of them after a few days?"
"I dunno but, anyway, we're having blueberry pancakes with whipped cream." Sonic replied. "I figure you should have a few good meals if you're sentenced to prison tomorrow."

Sonic and Manic stood by the gym.
"What are we waiting for?" Manic asked.
"Your trainer." Sonic said.
"You're not my trainer?" Manic asked. "Oh, no. Please tell me it isn't Knuckles."
Knuckles opened the door. "What took you so long?"
Manic grimaced. "I wish this was one of my weird fever dreams." He said. "Can't you just slip my medallion to me in a cake or something?"
Knuckles furrowed his brow. "Is that a hedgehog family custom for whenever you get in legal trouble?"
"No, Manic has binge watched too many cartoons in his day." Sonic said.
Manic rolled his eyes. "Like that's all I do is watch TV."
Knuckles led the way into the gym.
"Anyway, our medallions quit working as soon as we defeated Robotnik." Sonic said. "Why do you think I bought us new equipment?"
Manic huffed. "Those things never work consistently anyway."
"Well, anyway, I'll let Sonic teach you to spin dash." Knuckles said. "Everything else, I'll handle."
They stopped in the middle of the basketball court.
"Okay, to spin dash, you just need to get a running start." Sonic said. "Then, throw yourself forward and curl into a ball in mid air."
Manic took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Okay, let's see…."
Manic got a running start and tripped over his own feet while he tried to curl into a ball.
Sonic ran over and helped him up. "Okay, that was just sad. Try again."
Manic tried again, except this time, he curled into a ball and rolled himself across the floor.
Sonic groaned. "You're too slow, I guess." He said. "Okay, so you have your spines."
Knuckles tilted his head to the side. "They couldn't possibly be that strong if they're this bent out of shape." He said, motioning to Manic's long spines.
"You may want to start taking vitamins or something, bro." Sonic said. He handed Manic some boxing gloves. "Okay, Knuckles will take it from here."
Knuckles walked Manic over to a punching bag while Sonic ran laps around the basketball court.
"Okay, let's see what you got." Knuckles said, motioning to the punching bag.
Manic punched the bag a few times.
Knuckles leaned against the wall. "That's just sad even for a hedgehog."
Manic huffed. "Oh, you're really encouraging."
"Try again." Knuckles said.
Manic punched the bag a few more times.
Knuckles shook his head.
"Hey, I can't help it that echidnas are naturally stronger than hedgehogs." Manic protested. "Can we at least put some music on?"
"Nobody wants to listen to your emo music, bro!" Sonic called out.
"I can't concentrate on helping you with noise." Knuckles said.
Manic sighed. "Then let me put my earbuds in."
"Go ahead, I'll get us some water."

Sonia walked into the gym. "Boys, it's getting close to lunch time and you still haven't showered."
Sonic let go of Manic's legs. "Alright."
Manic lowered himself down and let go of the pull-up bar.
Knuckles kissed Sonia on the way out.
Manic and Sonic walked over to Sonia.
Sonia showed Manic her phone. "Manic, the tabloids are now speculating you stole to feed your drug habit."
Manic stretched his legs. "Figures. They've had it out for me ever since they found out I grew up in a sewer."
"We know it's not true, but you don't need to set yourself up for gossip." Sonia said, putting her phone into her pocket. "You're royalty again. You have to act more refined now."
"He's getting help, Sis." Sonic replied. He turned the music off. "Besides, the tabloids are already making up junk about me and him anyway."
Manic shook his head. "I made one stupid remark and we slow-danced as a joke and they ran with it."
"Those pictures of Manic on that display couch somehow leaked to the media too." Sonic said.
Manic grimaced. "Why did we think that would be funny?"
Sonia cringed. "Eh… I can't even- let's go. The chef made Mother's favorite."
Sonic walked his siblings out of the gym. "So they finally stopped caring about your wedding, Sis?"
"Well, it has been a week, but I was never the main focus after our darling little brother pulled that stupid prank." Sonia sneered.
"Hey, it backfired, didn't it?" Manic asked. "I was the only one who drank the spiked punch."
"Because I gave everyone a heads-up and I swapped your drinks out." Sonic replied. "Did you really think I was going to risk Sonia killing us for messing up her wedding because you thought it would be funny?"
The triplets stood in the hallway.
Manic shrugged. "Kinda?"
Sonia folded her arms. "You should be glad he dragged you back to your room before I got my hands on you."
"Or before that girl could mace him." Sonic added. He looked at Manic. "By the way, that aqua girl hedgehog from the sushi place you liked so much won't ever go out with you now. You were hitting on her in the most awkward, creepy way possible while standing way too close to her. As soon as you found out her name is Stella, you started screaming her name like Elaine on that Seinfeld episode."
Manic covered his face with his hand. "I'm glad that place isn't my favorite restaurant. I only kept going there because I thought she was cute."
Sonia stepped away from her brothers. "Anyway, go take a shower, Manic."
Manic walked away. "Fine. I need a moment anyway." He said over his shoulder. He closed himself up in his room. "Why didn't Sonic actually stop me from doing that prank in the first place?"
"Wake up!" Sonic yelled.
Manic gasped and jolted awake. "Not cool." He said, looking at the clock. "What're you doing in my room at six in the morning?"
