Manic woke up to Sonic gagging. “Ugh, bro.”
Sonic picked up the trash can and started vomiting.
Manic sat up. “Ah, man. Was it the chili dogs you had last night?”
Sonic finally stopped. “No, I wasn’t feeling great yesterday.” He said. “I think I caught whatever made Tails sick a few days ago.”
Manic nodded. “Do you need anything?” He asked. “Aside from a bucket and a damp washcloth?”
“No.” Sonic replied. He set the trash can down and eased back into bed.
“Alright, I’ll get that and tell Sonia you’re sick.” Manic said. He got up and headed to the bathroom.
Sonia happened to be in the bathroom.
Manic opened the door. “Hey, sis, are you almost done?”
“I just got in the shower.” Sonia said. “You know the rules. Use one of the old water bottles if you have to pee.”
“I need a washcloth for Sonic.” Manic replied. “He’s sick.”
“I forgot to get the towels out of the dryer.” Sonia said. “Get a washcloth from there.”
“Thanks.” Manic replied. He headed to the laundry room, got a washcloth out of the dryer and a bucket out of the corner of the room, then headed back to the bedroom.
Sonic had the trash can again as he coughed and gagged violently.
Manic walked over and sat down across from Sonic. “That sounds like it hurts.”
Sonic set the trash can down. “You have no idea.” He said. “It’s like my gag reflex is constantly on.”
Manic grimaced. “Ooh, that sounds awful.”
Sonic reached for the bucket Manic had.
Manic handed it to Sonic.
Sonic started dry heaving.
Manic realized the washcloth was dry. “I’ll be right back.” He said. He got up and hurried to the kitchen.
Sonia came out of the kitchen as Manic turned on the sink. “Sonic sounds awful,” She said. “Can you help me convince him to go to the doctor?”
Manic turned off the sink. “You know I hate hospitals.”
“It’s not like you’re going to be the patient.” Sonia said.
“It’s not an emergency.” Manic replied.
Sonia sighed. “So what are you gonna do if you and Surge get married and have a baby?” She asked. “You’d just let her give birth in the bathtub or something?”
Manic rubbed the back of his head.
Sonia shook her head. “You can be so selfish sometimes.”
“Hey, they nearly let me die when I had to have a blood transfusion.” Manic said, raising his voice. “Do you think you’d like hospitals if that happened to you?”
“Then I’ll get Shadow to help me.” Sonia replied. “All I’ll ask you to do is help him clean up. I’ll turn the shower on for you.”
“I can do that.” Manic said.
Manic walked to his and Sonic’s room.
Sonic was laying on his bed again.
“Sonia wants to take you to the doctor.” Manic said. “But I have to help clean you up first.”
“I don’t feel like moving.” Sonic muttered.
“Sorry, bro, you have to.” Manic replied. “Just a quick shower.”
Sonic slowly sat up as Sonia turned the shower on.
Manic helped Sonic out of the bed and into the shower stall.
The shower had warmed up by the time the brothers reached the bathroom.
Sonic flopped down on the shower seat, not even acknowledging water was running into his face (which was something he hated about showers).
Manic got in the shower and knelt down on the floor. “Do you need me to-”
Sonic fainted.
Manic caught Sonic. “Sonia!”
Sonia ran in. “What?”
“Sonic passed out.” Manic said.
“Huh?” Sonic asked.
“You must be feeling bad.” Manic said. “Sonia, can you turn the faucet off?”
Sonia turned the faucet off.
“I’ll sit with you while you wipe off, bro.” Manic said, helping Sonic out of the tub.
“Shadow is on his way to help us.” Sonia said.
“Great.” Sonic muttered.
Manic lathered up a washcloth with Sonic’s ocean spray soap and quietly cleaned his brother. “Sonia, can you get the bucket for him?”
“Sure.” Sonia said. She walked out of the room.

Sonia checked her phone. “Shadow will be here soon.” She said, “He was stuck in traffic.”
Sonic started vomiting again.
Manic noticed Sonic’s hands shaking as he gripped the bucket and helped him hold it.
Sonic collapsed against Manic, but continued dry heaving.
Manic patted Sonic’s shoulders.
Sonic finished gagging. “What are you smacking me for?”
“You okay, bro?” Manic asked. “I think you passed out while puking.”
“I didn’t, but I felt like it.” Sonic muttered.

Manic sat on the couch, watching a countdown video of fifty of the worst movies ever made on YouTube. He glanced over his shoulder as he heard the door open.
“Medicine?” Shadow asked. “You said he can’t handle it.”
“It makes him loopy, but he can manage.” Sonia said. “Now can you walk him to the couch? I have to call Mother and tell her what’s going on.”
Shadow sighed. “Fine.” He muttered.
Sonia kissed Shadow. “Love you, sweetie.”
Sonic chuckled.
“You’re lucky you’re sick.” Shadow muttered as he led Sonic to the couch.
Sonic was staggering along, grinning like an idiot. He flopped down on the couch beside Manic. Shadow sat down on the other side of Sonic.
Manic smiled and shook his head. “They got you loaded, huh, bro?”
“Yeah.” Sonic replied.
Shadow motioned to the tv. “So what is this?”
“Countdown of the fifty worst movies ever made.” Manic said. “I think it’s unfair that Buckaroo Banzai is on here. I’ve seen worse.”
“So have I.” Shadow replied.
Manic got up. “Do you need anything from the kitchen?” He asked. “I need some water.”
“I’ll take some water.” Shadow replied.
Manic walked to the kitchen.
Sonic slumped in his seat, laying his head on Shadow’s arm.
“Get off of me.” Shadow said, narrowing his eyes.
“I love you too, Shads.” Sonic replied. “I’m so glad Sonia is dating you.”
“Sonia!” Shadow yelled. “Manic! Get in here and make your brother go to bed.”
Manic ran in and helped Sonic up. “C’mon, bro.” He said. He walked Sonic to bed. “Let’s get you to bed. You could use a nap.”
Sonia came in, passing by Sonic and Manic on her way through the kitchen. “What is going on?”
“Your brother is more annoying when he’s high on cold medicine.” Shadow said.
“I’m sorry.” Sonia replied.

A few days later
Sonic stretched his arms as he got out of bed. “Oh, I’m glad that’s-”
Manic started vomiting in a bucket.
Sonic sighed. “Here we go again.”
