The weekend after Mother’s Day, Bronx was back at our place. He wished me a belated happy Mother’s Day and handed me a gift.

“I’m sorry I didn’t give it to you last week.” He told me with a smile.

“Don’t ever apologize for spending Mother's Day with your Mom.” I told him sincerely. I meant it too. That’s her day to spend with him, not mine.

Bronx flashed me his grin and said, “But you’re still a mom to me. So I wanted to get you something. I love you Moon. And I love having you as a bonus Mom.”

“I love having you as a bonus son.” I told him and then gave him a hug. He gave me a new pocket knife. I had been talking about getting a new one. The one I had was still good. But this one was a little bigger and would be easier to keep sharp.

“Oh, thank you, Bronx. This was the one I was looking at.” I smiled at him.

“I know.” He said with a very proud smile.

We went and bought a new SUV for Pete and gave Bronx the old one to use as an everyday car. The new one had three rows of seats so we could have all seven of us in the same vehicle. I told Pete that if we wanted to, we could trade in the Porsche for a minivan. But he said he would not own a minivan. It wasn’t cool enough for his reputation. I rolled my eyes at that but flashed him a grin after. If he didn’t want a minivan I wasn’t going to argue.

Bronx was able to go between the two homes as he pleased for the most part. All we asked was that we knew where he planned to be each evening. As in, if he was supposed to be with us, but wanted to stay with his mom he let us all know. Ashlee and Evan agreed with us on that. They didn’t care if he wanted to spend time at our place. They just wanted to know where he was. He’s a good kid so he didn’t have any problems with that.

He did ask me if he could take Luna for a trip by himself. I wasn’t too sure about that. So I asked him a few questions. I wanted to know where, when, how long and if anyone else was going.

He told me all his plans. I wasn’t too comfortable with him taking Luna on his own. But he had never given me any reason to think he wouldn’t be fine. I agreed to a weekend trip only. That he had to be back on Sunday. He couldn’t go too far away. And that he had to talk his Dad and his Mom into it.

Ashlee was ok with it. Pete, however, wasn't. They actually got into an argument about it. Bronx was very upset his Dad didn’t want him to go camping by himself. Pete was worried about his son being alone. Bronx asked him to talk to me about it because he thought I would be on his side. And I was, but I wasn’t going to go against Pete’s wishes for his son.

Pete did ask me about it. We were in the kitchen cooking dinner together. He had made pasta sauce with a lot of garlic from scratch. I was fixing the salad and prepping the garlic bread.

“How can you feel comfortable with Bronx going away for a weekend on his own? He’s only sixteen.” Pete was saying as he stirred the sauce.

“I’m not completely comfortable with it. When he asked to use Luna I only agreed if we knew where, when, how long, and who with. I told him no one else was allowed in Luna. He couldn’t take his friend with him in Luna. And you and Ashlee had to agree first.”

“Friend? What friend? Why don’t you want him to take a friend with him? I’d be more comfortable if he did have someone with him.” Pete said.

“Luna is still mine. Bronx is a good kid, but he’s still only sixteen. I don’t want to be responsible for another teenager in Luna. If a friend wants to drive and stay in a tent, fine. But not in my van. And I don’t want him having sex in her bed. It’s still my bed.” I told Pete

“Sex?!” Pete squeaked out in surprise and dropped the spoon in the sauce.

I gave him a level look. “He’s sixteen, and I’m pretty sure he’s seeing someone.” I said matter of factly.

“What? He hasn't said anything to me about a girl. Why wouldn’t he tell me about her?” Pete asked with a bit of a whine in his voice.

“I don’t know for sure he’s seeing someone. I just think he is.”

“Grace, am I losing him?” He asked me with true concern.

“No. Oh, Honey, you’re not losing him. He’s a teenager. This is normal.”

He looked very upset as he fished the spoon out of the sauce. He tossed the spoon in the sink and pulled out a clean one from the drawer. He looked over at me and asked, “Why do you think he’s seeing someone?”

“Just little things,” I said with a shrug. “Like he smiles a certain way when he gets a text. But only sometimes. And when he does, he ends up in his room. I’ve heard him talking on the phone to someone and he sounds different than when he’s just talking with his friends.”

“How did I not notice that?” He asked.

“He isn’t exactly public with it. And you’ve been busy. I’ve just noticed it.”

Dinner was just about ready at this point so we stopped our conversation. We called the kids to the table and had dinner. Pete tried to ask Bronx about his love life. He wasn’t subtle about it at all. Bronx dodged the questions the best he could. That only frustrated Pete. By the end of the meal Bronx was hardly speaking to Pete. That worried me.

That night when we were in bed I could tell Pete had something on his mind.

“Honey, what’s on your mind?” I asked as I climbed into bed.

“Bronx. He’s always told me everything. He’s always been my buddy. We talked about everything. And he wouldn’t tell me anything at dinner. I don’t want him to think or feel like he can’t talk to me. I knew there would be a time when I didn’t know everything about his life. But I’m not ready for that.” He sighed heavily. “Do you think he’s having sex?” He asked a little desperately.

“Yeah, probably. If not, then soon. How old were you when you lost your virginity?” I knew he didn’t want to hear that. But the reality is, Bronx is growing up.

“Sixteen.” He answered.

I just gave him a look.

“Ok, I know, I know. But I don’t want to be a grandpa yet. The twins are not even six months old.”

“Have you had the talk with him?” I asked. “Just because he might be having sex doesn’t mean we’ll be grandparents right now. We don’t even know if he’s seeing a girl. He could be dating a boy.”

“I’ve had the talk a few times actually. I’ve been open with him about sex and protection since he was old enough to understand. Do you think he’s dating a guy?”

“I really don’t know. Have you bought any condoms for him?” I asked.

“No, I haven’t. I didn’t think about it.” Pete admitted.

“Buy him some. He might not need them yet. But better to have them and not need them than to need one and not have it. And let’s be honest at that age with those teenage hormones, not having one might not stop him. Then we really would need to worry about becoming grandparents.”

“I don’t want to know if he’s having sex. He’s my kid, and he was just a little boy not that long ago. I don’t think I can handle this.” He told me.

“Want me to handle it?” I asked as I scooted close to him.

“What would you do?”

“Take him shopping. Help him pick the right ones. Talk to him about making sure his partner is ready and not letting the feelings get to be too much.”

“I don’t know. I guess if it doesn’t embarrass him. I’m not ready for this. Having a teenager is hard enough. Having a sexually active one is going to make me an old man.” He sighed and cuddled up to me.

“Honey, I hate to break it to you, but we are old.” I said with a laugh.

“No we’re not. We’re just not young. But we are not old.”

“Ok, we’re not old, yet.” I giggled and then kissed him.

“You can take him shopping. And talk to him about sex.” Pete said after a few minutes.

The next day I asked Bronx if he would go to the drugstore with me. I told him I wanted help with the twins. He readily agreed and helped me get the babies in their seats.

“So, Bronx, who are you dating? Is it a girl from school?” I asked to make conversation on the drive. I made a guess on whether it was a boy or a girl.

“Why do you think I’m dating?” He asked.

“Oh, just little things. So, what’s she like? How long have you two been dating?” I was trying to sound like I was asking a friend about their new sweetie, not a concerned parent.

He was hesitant to say much. “Umm.., well, they’re nice. Umm...and we met at school. And, umm... well...I really like them.” He mumbled that last part.

“You know, I won’t judge you. If you like this person, then I’m ready to like them too. They can’t be all the bad if you’re dating them.” I assured him.

“Moon, it’s not a girl I’m going out with.” He mumbled.

I only smiled at him. “So, what’s his name?”

“Rob.” Bronx answered as he turned a bright pink.

“Do you really think your Dad or your Mom would be upset with this information?”

“I don’t know. Maybe Mom. I think Dad would be ok with it. I guess I always thought they expected me to like girls. And I do, but he’s, I don’t know. Just different.”

“Nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all.” I told him. “Is this the same Rob that came over last week?”

“Yeah, that’s him.”

“I liked him. He seems like a nice young man.”

Bronx relaxed a bit when I said that. “I think so.” He said.

We made it to the store. I did need some things so we each had a baby and I grabbed a cart and we started shopping. We got to the baby section and it seems that birth control fits with baby supplies. I stopped in front of the condoms.

“Do you need any?” I asked him.

Poor Bronx turned a deep red. “I… how did you know?”

“You’re sixteen and in a relationship.” I looked over the selection. “Do you have a preference? Or does he?” He shook his head so I picked out a box for him. It was a brand I’m familiar with from personal experience. And then I picked out some lube. I put both in the cart and moved on to complete my shopping.

When we got home, I asked Pete to watch the twins for me. I wanted to talk to Bronx about being safe and being gentle when having sex. I wasn’t his Mom so I was hoping he would be more open with me. And maybe it wouldn’t be as embarrassing as having Mom talk to him.

I know Pete saw me pull the box of condoms and the lube out of the bag. He raised his eyebrows asking a silent question. I shook my head.

“I’ll tell you later.” I told him before heading up to Bronx’s room.

I knocked on his door. “Come in.” He called out.

I opened his door and walked in. I made sure to close it behind me. “Hey. Can I talk to you?” I asked once I was in his room.

“Sure, what’s up?” He asked me a bit nervously.

“Here, I bought these for you. Please use them. I know, you can’t get another boy pregnant, unless he’s trans?” I asked.

“No, he’s not.” Bronx told me.

“And he can’t get you pregnant. But, it’s good practice to use them. They can keep both of you from passing along something. Even if both of you are virgins there is always HPV. And you will need the lube.” I said as I handed him the boxes.

Flushing a deep pink he took them from my hands. “Thanks.” He mumbled.

“Bronx, have you had sex with Rob yet?” I asked him as I sat on the chair at his desk.

“No! Moon! Why are you asking that?!” He was looking away and was obviously embarrassed.

“Because I want you to know what you’re getting into. I don’t want you to have the uncomfortable, painful and awkward first time most people have.” I told him. I think that helped a little. “As long as you are safe and smart about it, it’s not wrong to have sex.”

He shook his head. “No, we haven’t done that. But we’ve, ya know, messed around, some.”

I nodded. “Well, now you’re prepared. When the time comes, I want you to keep something in mind.” I looked at him very seriously. “It doesn’t matter who ends up in which roll. Go slow, and be sure to use the lube, and be sure to use enough. Not enough and it will be painful. And always, always take a no for a no. Remember, that goes both ways. You can say no too.”

He looked like he didn’t completely believe I would know about any of this. “Umm..ok, thanks Moon.”

“Bronx, please don’t think you can’t talk to me or your Dad about anything. I mean it. You might be surprised at what we know.”

“Do you know about, I mean, you’re a girl. How would you know about, you know?”

I gave him a half smile. “I’ve been having sex for thirty years.” I told him matter-of-factly. “Believe me, I’ve seen just about everything. And I’ve tried most of it. I know what I’m talking about because, well, it’s not just guys that can have or enjoy sex like that. And it’s not just guys that can do that to other guys or girls.”

He only gave me a look that told me he wasn’t sure if I was telling the truth. I gave him a very level look and then asked, “Is there anything you want to know about?”

He sat on his bed and looked at the box with the lube in it. “How will I know if I have enough lube?”

“Believe me, you’ll know. If you have enough, skin slides over skin easily. Not enough and skin rubs against skin. You can tell by touch. I recommend opening that and seeing what it feels like. Just rub a bit on the back of your hand. You’ll understand what I mean.” I told him. I wanted him to understand the tools I had given him.

He nodded his head without looking up at me. “Have you, have you, ya know, done it? Like that, I mean. Did it hurt?”

I have always been honest with Bronx. Any time he has ever asked me a question I have always told him the truth. “Yes I have. And yeah, it did hurt a bit. But if you do it right, it doesn't hurt that much.”

“Did you like it?” He looked up when he asked.

I took a breath. “It’s not my favorite sexual activity. But it wasn’t bad. It felt good at the time. I have also been on the giving side. I’ve had partners that enjoyed the stimulation, and I helped with that.” I wanted to be honest without being graphic or outing anyone.

He looked confused at that. “Why would a guy want a girl to do that to him?”

“Because it feels good when your prostate is stimulated. You don’t have to be gay or bi to like it. And some men enjoy that feeling, but don’t want to have sex with another man.”

“Oh, I didn’t think that was something a girl would be able to, ya know, do.” He seemed surprised at the idea.

“Haven’t you looked up some of this online?” I asked. I mean, I know what you can find online. He nodded.

“Please keep in mind that porn isn’t real life. Most of what you’ve seen isn’t how it will be for you. But that’s ok. What you experience will be your experiences. And I know you’ll enjoy them. Do you have any other questions?” I asked him.

Bronx shook his head. “No. I, umm, no. Well, yeah. Why aren’t you telling me to not have sex? Or to wait?”

“Because that would make me a hypocrite. I wasn’t much older than you when I lost my virginity. But, I do want to tell you that it is better when it’s with someone you really care for. Love does make it better. So much better.”

“Moon? Please don’t tell Dad.” He asked me.

“I won’t out you. I promise. But you need to talk to him. He isn’t going to be mad or upset about this. I can promise you that. In fact, he thinks he’s losing you.”

This shocked him. “He’s not losing me. Why does he think that?”

“Because he knows you’re keeping something from him. And he doesn’t know how to handle that.” I looked at Bronx trying to get a read on how he was feeling about that.

“You know you can talk to him about anything, right? He will always, always be here for you no matter what.” I tried to reassure him.

“I’ll talk to him. But when I’m ready, ok?”

“Sure. I won’t tell him anything.”

“Thanks Moon.”

“Dinner will be ready in about an hour and a half. I’ll call you when it’s ready if you’re not already down.” I said as I stood up. “Oh, and if you need more of anything I bought you, let me know and I’ll get it for you.” I left him in his room.

I went downstairs only to find Pete anxiously waiting for me.

“What did you tell him? Did you really buy him condoms?” He asked as soon as I came into the living room.

I walked over to him and rested both hands on his chest. I smiled at him and said, “Yes I did. And we talked about sex. I’m not going to go into detail with you. He had some questions and I answered him truthfully. I also encouraged him to talk to you.”

“Is he having sex?” Pete asked, concern etched on his face.

“No, not yet anyway.” I don’t think that helped any. “Honey, he’s going to talk to you. He just needs to gather his courage. Don’t push him to talk, let him come to you. And you really don’t have to worry about losing him. He needs you more than he realizes.”

Pete looked so hurt. “But, if he needs me, how am I not supposed to go talk to him?” He asked me.

“Just be available to him. You two have a great relationship. Give him some time.”

Pete wrapped his arms around my waist and laid his head on my shoulder. I hugged him back and rubbed slow circles on his back.

“I think I wanna meet this girl. We should ask him to bring her for dinner.” Pete said.

“We can and should ask him to bring her for dinner.” I agreed. I pulled back from his hug and said, “I need to feed the twins. I’m feeling very, full.”

He smiled at me and helped me get settled on the couch with both of them. After feeding them I started dinner. As we had dinner together as a family, Pete spoke up.

“So, Bronx. Why don’t you bring your girlfriend over to meet us? She can have dinner with us.”

“I don’t know Dad.” Bronx said hesitantly.

“I promise to keep your Dad and the kids from embarrassing you.” I told him. Pete flashed me a look. I didn’t care if what I had said pissed him off or not. I wanted Bronx to feel comfortable enough to bring home his love interest.

“We won’t embarrass him.” Pete told me. I just raised my eyebrows at him. “Well, not on purpose.” He corrected himself.

“We just want to meet the people that are important to you.” I said.

“I’ll think about it.” Bronx told us.

We finished dinner without being up Bronx’s love life again. The rest of the evening was normal. The weekend went by normally. On Sunday just after lunch Bronx did approach Pete. The two of them went off and spent over an hour together. I kept the kids busy so they wouldn’t bother them.

Later, when I was alone in the kitchen Pete came in. He leaned against the counter and said, “Bronx told me everything. He said you already knew it was a boy and not a girl he’s been dating.”

“Mmmhmm. He told me.” I answered.

“I’m really glad he told me.” Pete said as he started to pull things out of the fridge to help me make dinner. “He had some interesting questions. I tried my best to answer honestly but not tell him too much.”

“Just be honest with him. He’ll appreciate it.” I told him.

Pete stopped mid way through setting things on the counter. “Thank you for taking the lead and talking to him. He said you were the one that made him believe I wouldn’t be mad with him. I told him the only thing I was upset about was that he didn’t think I would understand that he wasn’t dating a girl. I mean, me of all people.”

“Yeah, but Honey, you’re Dad. It’s embarrassing to talk to your parents about sex. No matter how good your relationship is, it’s an embarrassing situation.” I said.

Pete sighed, “I know. Thank you for helping us navigate this.” And then he went back to pulling ingredients for dinner out of the fridge.

I watched him for a minute. He looked older, like this weekend had aged him five years. He looked tired and a bit worn out.

I walked over to him and placed a hand on his arm making him stop what he was doing. “I’ll take care of dinner. Why don’t you go do something fun with the kids? I’ll call you all when dinner is ready.” I said.

Pete only looked at me like I was speaking a new language. “I think the twins could use some attention.”

“No, I’ve got them. Go spend some time with the kids. Call Bronx down and the four of you play a game or something for the next hour. I’ll manage dinner and the twins.”

He nodded and left the kitchen. I heard him round up the kids for a few rounds of Mario Kart. When dinner was ready I called them to the table to eat. All four of them seemed to be in really good spirits. And some of the tension I had been seeing in Pete had left him. They needed the time together. They hadn’t had much of it since the twins had been born.

Pete’s 46th birthday was coming up. I wanted to do something special for him. But, I really wasn’t sure what to do. I decided to throw him a big surprise party. I invited all of his friends here in California as well as all the band members and I invited his family too. Unfortunately they were not able to make it.

I rented a ballroom at a very nice hotel. I had the food catered and had a special cake ordered for him. It was shaped and decorated just like his Loon bass. I tried to get all of his favorites. I hired a party planner and had the ballroom decorated. It looked fantastic.

On the day of his birthday I made him breakfast in bed. Saint, Marvel, the twins, and I all woke him up and gave him our gifts. He thought that was all we’re going to do for the day and he was happy with that. Later in the afternoon I informed him that we were going out for dinner and that Bronx would babysit for us. And, it was fancy so he needed to dress accordingly. This would be the first time I had left the twins for more than just an hour or so. But I trusted Bronx with them. And Saint and Marvel would help him.

I got all dressed up and actually felt pretty for the first time since before the twins were born. He dressed up too and looked good. Like really good. Slacks, shirt, tie, shaved and hair pulled back. I know the look I gave him when I saw him showed just what I thought. He seemed to like what he was seeing too.

“You look beautiful.” He told me.

“Thank you. You look very handsome.” I told him. “We should go, we have reservations.”

“Where are you taking me?” He asked as I led him to my car.

I got to the driver’s door and said, “I’m taking you to dinner. I’ve arranged for a cake after.” I smiled at him. “Come on, get in and let me spoil you for your birthday.”

He flashed his grin at me over the top of the car. “Ok.” he said as he got in the car.

I took us towards Beverly Hills. I had rented out a very nice, mid sized ballroom/event room at a very nice and expensive hotel in Beverly Hills. We pulled into the parking lot and parked.

“Are we staying here?” He asked.

“No, we’re having dinner here.” I said as I got out of the car. I waited for him in front of the car. When he was abreast of me, I took his hand and led him towards the door closest to the event room.

One of his friends, Seth, was helping me by getting everyone at the party ready to surprise Pete. I sent a quick text to him when we parked. We headed into the hotel and he started to question me. I told him we had reservations at the restaurant there. But he knew something was up when we didn’t head to the restaurant.

I led him down the hall to the event room door. We got there and I stopped us. I turned to look at him and said, “Happy Birthday Honey. I hope you like your party.” And then I opened the door. About 75 of his/our friends all yelled “Surprise!” At him when we walked in.

Pete was surprised. He actually laughed his big laugh and turned his smile on me. “Thank you.” He said before giving me a quick kiss and then mingled with his friends. The food was brought in shortly after we arrived. Pete had a lot of fun at his party. When the cake was brought in he had to take a bunch of pictures before he would cut into it.

He ended up posting a picture of it on Instagram with the caption “I have the best wife. Surprise party for my 46th! Look at the cake she had made for me! I love you Moon.”

The party went late. But everyone enjoyed themselves. Pete had had a few drinks and was tipsy. I actually like tipsy Pete. He smiles a lot and laughs a lot. By the time the party was over, I was tired and ready to go home. I needed to feed the twins, my breasts were starting to hurt. I was feeling very full of milk.

We left with the last of our guests. Pete was in the best mood and was feeling good. We got to the car and I unlocked it. But before we got in, he pulled me to him and kissed me hard.

“Thank you so much. That was the best birthday party. I had a great time.” He told me before he let me go.

“You’re welcome. I’m really glad you enjoyed yourself. And I’m so happy you had a good birthday.” I told him.

We got in the car and I took us home. Bronx was still up, but all the kids were asleep.

“How did the night go? Did the twins give you any problems?” I had texted him a few times just to check in. But he had told me everything was fine each time.

“No, we had a good night. The twins took their bottles without any issues. They’ve been asleep for about an hour. The kids both went down around 9. Did you guys have a good time?”

“Yeah, we had fun. Your Dad was surprised. We brought home some cake if you want a piece.”

“Thanks for babysitting for us. I really appreciate it.” Pete told Bronx.

“Happy birthday Dad.” Bronx said before hugging Pete and heading up to his room.

“I want to go check on the kids. I had hoped the twins would be up and wanting to eat. I’m so full my boobs hurt.”

A very familiar smile crossed his face. “I can help you with that if they’re not hungry.”

I smiled at him and said, “Let’s go check on them. Then we can celebrate your birthday privately.”

He pulled me to him and proceeded to kiss the breath out of me. I finally pulled back from him and took his hand as we went upstairs. The twins were sound asleep. I didn’t want to wake either of them up to see if they wanted to nurse. Marvel and Saint were also sound asleep.

Pete took me to our room. He was feeling frisky and I was too. He was happy and enthusiastic to help relieve the pressure in my breasts. It felt amazing to have him suckle. He was so gentle with me. We both enjoyed the birthday sex. And he thanked me again for a good day.

Father’s Day was just a week and a half after Pete’s birthday. We celebrated him as a full family of seven. I cooked some of his favorite foods for all three meals. The kids all got him gifts. He hung out with all five of the kids. I offered to give him the afternoon to himself if he wanted it. He didn’t. He wanted to spend the day with us. We were happy to spend it with him. He said it was a wonderful Father’s Day.

My birthday was at the end of June. Pete had asked me what I wanted and what I wanted to do for it. I told him that all I wanted was to be with him and all the kids. I didn’t care about anything else.

The morning of my birthday I was up early because the twins needed to be fed, and I couldn’t get back to sleep after. Pete found me in the kitchen.

“Happy Birthday. Why are you up?” He said as he entered the kitchen.

“Twins. I couldn’t get back to sleep after feeding them.” I told him as I sipped a cup of coffee.

“Well, that kinda ruins my plans for this morning.” He said as he poured a cup of coffee.

“What were your plans?”

“To make you breakfast and wake you up with it and the kids.” He said with a grin.

“That’s really sweet of you. You can still make breakfast if you want. Or I can cook.” I offered.

“No, it’s your birthday. You're not cooking today. But I do need to run out this afternoon and pick up your cake.” He informed me.

We sat and just chatted for a little while before the kids started to join us. Bronx came in first and wished me a happy birthday.

“Happy birthday, Moon.” He said as he joined Pete and I in the kitchen.

“Thank you, Bronx. Are you gonna have dinner with us tonight? Or are you going back to your Mom’s?”

“I’m gonna be here. It’s your birthday, ‘course I’m gonna be here.”

“Would you like to invite Rob?” I asked him. He had brought Rob by to introduce him to us. We liked him.

“Yeah, if you don’t mind? He likes it over here. He hasn’t told either of his parents about us. Or that he’s gay. He’s afraid to. He thinks that he won’t be welcome at his Dads anymore. And his Mom is never home. She’s always working or going out with whoever she’s sleeping with. He doesn’t like being in her apartment alone.”

“Ask him to come over. As early as you want him to come. You can call him now if you want and see if he wants breakfast with us. I like Rob. He’s welcome here.” Pete told Bronx. I nodded in agreement.

It was obvious how much he liked Bronx. They were very sweet with each other and we approved of their relationship. Bronx still hadn’t told Ashlee about the true nature of his and Rob’s friendship. She just thought they were best friends. That did concern me because she allowed sleepovers. But that was out of my hands, not my house, not my son. We hadn’t allowed that. We approved of them, but we weren’t going to make it easy for them.

Saint and Marvel came into the kitchen and wished me a happy birthday.

“Happy birthday, Mom.” Saint told me as he walked up and gave me a hug.

“Thank you Saint.” I hugged him back.

“Happy birthday, Mommy.” Marvel told me as she climbed into my lap.

“Thank you Miss. Marvelous.”

Star woke up and wanted to be part of the conversation. She was so happy to just be held by Pete and have him talk to her. She was going to be a Daddy’s girl. Jupiter woke up not long after his sister did. Neither of them were hungry so we took a few minutes to sit around the kitchen table, have a glass of milk or juice, or a cup of coffee before Pete got up and started making breakfast. Pancakes and bacon, my favorite.

After we had breakfast, both of the twins needed to eat so I took them to the living room where I had extra pillows to prop them up while I nursed them. The pillows helped me hold both of them at the same time. They were getting bigger. Pete came and sat next to us. He liked to talk to them as they ate too when he could. I liked it when he joined us because we got to bond with the twins and each other.

As I fed them I talked to them as I normally do. I liked how we bonded as I fed them. It was something I have come to enjoy very much. They responded to me as they ate and I talked. When Jupiter started to bite me I knew I was out of milk. But they were still hungry. I got him to disengage from the nipple and then Star started to bite too.

“Ouch! Oh, Jupiter, stop biting. There isn’t anymore milk. I’ll get you a bottle.” I was telling the baby as I got him off my nipple.

“I’ll go make them bottles.” Pete said and got up. By the time he came back with the bottles, both babies were getting fussy because they were still hungry. He put the bottles down, took Jupiter out of my arms, handed me one of the bottles, and then picked up the other one. He sat next to me and fed Jupiter.

“There ya go Little Man. You’re growing so big and so fast. You just need more than Mom can make for you this morning.” Pete was saying to him as they got settled and Jupiter started eating.

“I feel bad I can’t keep up with them all the time. I wish I could.” I said sadly as I gave Star her bottle.

“You shouldn’t feel bad about that. You’re trying to feed two of them. And you’re doing an amazing job of it. They’re just going through a growth spurt. You’ll catch up to them in a few days. You always do.”

“I really wanted to go a full year, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to do it that long.” I sighed. I really didn’t think I was going to be able to go a full year, and that disappointed me.

“Why do you think that?” He asked me.

“It just seems like my supply isn’t keeping up. And I don’t want to keep them from getting enough. They do ok on formula, maybe I should just give up and feed them that way.”

He was quiet as we finished feeding the twins. We burped them and them got them settled on a mat on the floor. The doorbell rang and Bronx ran to answer it. Rob came in and wished me a happy birthday.

“Hey, Mrs. Wentz. Happy birthday! Thanks for inviting me over. I have a card for you.” Rob greeted me as he came into the living room.

He handed me a card. I took it from him and said, “Rob, please feel free to call me Grace or Moon. Bronx does. And I like it better. And thank you for the card.” I gave him a sincere smile.

I opened the card and it was a pretty generic birthday card, but he had written in a very sweet note. “Happy birthday Mrs. Wentz. Thank you so much for accepting me and Bronx. And thank you for letting me hang out at your place so much. It feels like home. I hope you have a great birthday. Love, Rob.”

I smiled at him and said, “You’re welcome here anytime Rob. Thank you, this was very sweet.”

The boys took off and headed for Bronx’s room. We had a rule for the house, no closed bedroom doors if you were in your bedroom with your SO. You can hang out there and for the most part, we’ll leave you alone. But no closed doors. They didn’t have a problem with this rule. And they spent a lot of time hanging out with the family or by the pool.

Pete took Saint and Marvel with him when he went out to pick up my cake. They also stopped and picked up lunch while they were out. Rob joined us for lunch, but had to go to his Dad’s after that. It was his dad’s visitation time and he didn’t like it when Rob wasn’t there when he got home.

After lunch, I put the twins down for a nap. Marvel was out growing the need for a daily nap, so she and Saint went and played in the playroom. It was summer so they weren’t in school. Bronx went up to his room. Pete went to his office to work on some things for a band he was working with. And knowing him, he was also working on lyrics, ideas for the next FOB album and probably five other things. I had a few videos edited and ready to post, so I took the opportunity to do some writing. Before too long Pete came out of his office and came to find me in the living room.

“Hey. What’re you working on?” He asked me as he entered the room.

“Book. What’s up?” I said as I looked up from my laptop.

“Just wanted to spend some time with you.” He said as he sat next to me.

“I always like it when you spend time with me.” I said as I closed my computer and sat it on the table. He opened his arms to me and instead of leaning into him and cuddling, I moved so I could straddle his legs. I enjoyed sitting in his lap. I couldn’t do it when I was hugely pregnant. I had been taking advantage of it any time I could. He just gave me an approving smile and pulled me in for a kiss.

“So, what’s for dinner tonight?” I asked him.

“I’m going to make you my famous Chicken Curry for dinner.” He flashed his grin at me.

“I love your chicken curry.” I said before I kissed him again. But I lingered on the kiss. I moved one hand to the back of his head, my fingers playing with his hair.

“Remember what I asked for last year? What I told you I wanted for my birthday?” I asked him after the kiss.

I watched the lust and desire cross his face. “Oh, yeah. I remember.” He huffed out in a quiet voice.

I moved my mouth to his ear and asked, “I want that again this year. Think you can handle that?”

“Yes,” he said and then dropped his mouth to my neck. We had a fairly heated makeout session for a few minutes.

We stopped because we heard the twins waking up on the baby monitor.

“I’ll go get them. I'm going to need bottles though. I’ll fix those first and then get them.” I said as I got off his lap.

“You go get them and change them. I’ll make the bottles and bring them up to you. I’ll help you.” He told me. I nodded and headed upstairs.

I went into the nursery to find both of them awake and talking to each other. They were just making sounds, but they were very interested in what the other one was doing.

“Hello you two. I see you’re both awake. Are you ready for a diaper change? Are you hungry? Daddy’s gonna bring up your dinner. I don’t think I have enough for you right now.” I picked up Jupiter and took him to the changing table. I continued to talk to them as I changed them and then took them down the hall to our room. I liked feeding them on our bed because there was room for all three of us.

I did try to nurse them, but I was right. It didn’t take long for them to suck me dry. Pete was there with the bottles before they were done. He took Jupiter and I had Star. As we fed them the kids came looking for us. Saint found us and asked if he could come in. We gladly agreed. He called out for Marvel.

“Marvel, I found them. In their room.” He came in and crawled up on the bed. He cuddled up next to me and started talking to his sister. Marvel entered the room and ran up to the bed. She also got on and climbed up to sit between me and Pete.

“We need to start a new book tonight. We finished Charlotte's Web. What would you like to read next?” I asked the kids once they were settled down.

“Mom, can we read Harry Potter again?” Saint asked as he looked up at me. “Star and Jupiter haven’t heard them yet. They need to know what the picture in their room is.”

I grinned at him. “Yeah, I’d love to read Harry Potter with you again. And you’re right. Star and Jupiter need to know the story too. Would you like to start now?”

Both of them nodded. “Ok. But I’m gonna need a little help from both of you. Saint, will you please go down and get the new copy of The Sorcerers Stone? The one with the pictures? Do you know where it is?” I asked him.

Nodding enthusiastically he said, “Yeah, it’s on the shelf in the den. I’ll go get it.” He got off the bed and scampered out of the room.

“Marvel, will you please go tell Bronx what we’re going to do and ask if he would like to join us?”

She got off the bed and ran out of the room yelling for her brother. “Bronx, Bronx, Mommy’s gonna read Harry Potter again. Wanna come join us?” I heard her as she ran down the hall to Bronx’s room.

The two of them came in just a few minutes later. Star was done by this time and I was trying to burp her. Pete was taking care of Jupiter. Both babies were in good moods and wanted attention from all of us.

Marvel and Bronx got on the bed next to me. I handed a happy and content Star to her big brother. Bronx took her with a smile and cuddled her close. I scooped up Marvel and put her in my lap.

Saint came back in and not only did he have the book, he had a couple of bottles of water with him.

He handed Pete the book and handed me one of the waters. “I was thirsty and thought you might want one too. I brought extras in case anyone else wanted some.” He explained as he got on the bed between Pete and I.

I wrapped my arm around him and said, “Thank you very much. I am thirsty.” I did take a sip of water and then to the book from Pete.

I opened the book and looked at the first page. Before I started to read it out loud, I realized this was the best birthday I’d ever had. I told my family just that too.

“This, right here, all of us together, this makes this the best birthday I’ve ever had. I love you guys so much.”

Saint turned his head to look up at me. “We love you too Mom.”

I smiled and swallowed a few times. Then, taking a breath, I started to read. “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling. Chapter one. The Boy Who Lived. Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.”

It was the best birthday. And I was very happy. This adventure I’m taking with this family of mine has been fantastic.

Until next time, be good to yourself, be good to others, and go live your own adventures. Bye everyone!
