Manic and Surge walked through the fortress hallway.
“You’re still living in the lab?” Manic asked. “Why?”
“It’s not so bad without Eggman or robots.” Surge replied. She pressed a button by one of the doors.
The door whooshed open, revealing a room designed to look like a giant pinball machine.
“We have our very own amusement park.” Surge said, smiling. “Wait til you see the food court.”
Manic smirked. “Sweet.”
Sonic ran by, brushing Surge and Manic out of the way, and dived into the room.
Manic and Surge glanced behind them, then at Sonic, who was rolling around the room and bouncing off the bumpers.
Manic laughed.
Surge took Manic’s hand. “C’mon, he’ll be here a while.” She replied. She led Manic to the food court. “Thanks for saving me. I’m sorry I lied to you for so long.”
“It’s okay.” Manic said. “I forgive you.”
Surge and Manic sat down at one of the tables and ordered their meals off of the kiosk at the table.
“There’s a recording studio downstairs if you, Sonic, and Sonia want to use it.” Surge replied. “Don’t ask me why he had one. I have no idea.”
“At least he got a life sentence with no parole.” Manic said.
Surge folded her arms and laid them on the table. “But I don’t know what I’ll do now.” She replied. “I’m set for life, thanks to the settlement, but I want to do more than wander the halls day in and day out.”
“You can always help me make posters and the music videos for the band.” Manic said. “Someone has to run our socials.”
“Thanks, Babe.” Surge replied.
“You’re welcome.” Manic said.
