Manic wearily laid his five month old twins Glitch and Cyber (a boy and a girl ) in their crib. Once he was sure they were settled in, he eased out of the room and made his way to the living room.
Surge was laying on the couch. She sat up as soon as she heard Manic come in and sit down at her feet. “Are they finally asleep?”
“Yeah.” Manic replied. “What did Tails say about updating the rings?”
“He’ll try, but no promises.” Surge said. “He said he’s done all that he could think of with the last set, but he’ll try again.”
Manic sighed. “Great.” He muttered. “There’s no way to cure them, huh?”
“Nope.” Surge replied. “There’s not a way to prevent it either since those weirdos altered us on the genetic level, so I hope you don’t decide you want more kids.”
“Babe, the ones we do have nearly shut off power to the whole town and can crawl almost as fast as we can run.” Manic said. “Do you think I’m crazy enough to believe we could handle more?”
“As long as we’re on the same page.” Surge replied.
Loud metallic buzzing filled the air.
Surge sat up as Manic reached across the table and picked up the baby monitor.
“How do you tell if this thing needs new batteries?” Manic asked.
Several drones busted through the windows.
Manic and Surge got up and fought them off.
Surge kicked one drone into the wall. “Why is Eggman bothering us?” She asked. “You don’t fight him with Sonic, do you?”
Manic grabbed one drone and threw it into another. “Does it look like I have time to do that?”
Sonic and Shadow arrived and took down the rest of the robots.
“Why’d you bring them here?” Manic asked as the babies started crying.
Surge headed upstairs.
“We didn't.” Shadow said. “Eggman’s found out about the GUN experiments, so he wants Maria and your twins if he can’t catch us.”
Manic rolled his eyes. “Of course.” He replied. “So now what?”
“Not much we can do.” Sonic said, shrugging.
Shadow crossed his arms. “He won’t consider my plan.”
“We’re not killing anyone.” Sonic replied.
Surge came down the stairs with Glitch and Cyber. “Can we at least put it to a vote?” She asked. “It must’ve really scared Glitch. I had to change his diaper again.”
“I have an idea.” Manic said, smirking.

Manic and Surge, along with Sonic and Shadow, arrived at Eggman’s fortress. Manic and Sonic were holding four large trash bags.
Shadow rang the doorbell.
Dr. Eggman opened the door. “Huh, so you decided to hand yourselves over to me?” He asked. “Smart move, but you could’ve saved me the trouble of searching for your brats.”
Shadow shook his head. “No, we’re not here for that.” He replied. “We know you’d probably have your robots change diapers, but you’d still have to deal with the trash can full of diapers. So to give you a taste of what it’s like to have three babies under a year old in your house….”
Manic and Sonic threw the trash bags at Eggman.
Surge shut the door with the outside controls.
The group heard Eggman scream as they walked away.
Manic and Surge high-fived each other as they followed Sonic and Shadow.
Sonic laughed. “Where on Mobius did you get that idea, bro?”
“An episode of Malcolm in the Middle.” Manic said. “Too bad we didn’t have time to build a giant slingshot like on the show. We wouldn’t have had to leave the house.”
Shadow shook his head. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“I’ll show you later.” Manic said.

Sonia handed Glitch to Surge. “You seriously did that?” She asked. “That is so immature, boys.”
Sally handed Cyber to Manic. “I guess it was yours or Sonic’s idea.”
“Manic’s idea.” Shadow said, crossing his arms. “They wouldn’t consider my idea.”
“I understand, honey, but you’d go to prison.” Sonia said. She hugged Shadow. “You’d miss me and Maria.”
Shadow sighed. “You’re right.”
“Manic, are you and Surge gonna stay for dinner?” Aleena asked.
“Fine with me.” Surge said, sitting down on the couch. “I don’t feel like cooking.”
Manic sat down beside Surge. “I was thinking the same thing.”
