Chapter 77: more Clan Gathering (It’s not a boar, it’s a sow)

“This Clanluna would speak with the Weez-Ur,” signed Iga.

“What can this Weez-Ur help the Clanluna with?” Harr signed, as he recognized that this was not a conversation with his friend. She was speaking with him formally as the Clanluna.

“The woman, Mio, has been Forced,” signed Iga. “She needs to go through 1st Rites again and has requested that you be the man to preform them.”

“This man would be agree to help Mio in the this way,” signed Harr. “. . . as long as his mates agree.”

“This Clanluna understands,” signed Iga. “This Clanluna will ask your mates’ permission to use you in this way.”

“As long as they agree, this man is willing,” signed Harr.

Back at the cave, Lun was causing an uproar with his demonstration of Cave Bear riding. A crowd was starting to close in as people were both frightened and fascinated.

“How are you doing that?” Morg signed.

“This mog-ur has learned how to coax winter sleepers to let him ride on his back,” signed Lun.

“Can you do this with other winter sleepers?” signed Morg.

“Yes. This mog-ur has also ridden Boy’s mother,” signed Lun.

(Creb chose to refrain from mentioning his belief that any weez-ur could ride Cave Bears. This demonstration would raise the status of Lun as a mog-ur and of their Clan, which the other Clans were having trouble accepting)

Just then, the centaur wandered out of the corral, which was under a fidelitus charm. To anyone who didn’t know then secret it appeared as if the centaur had appeared out of thin air!

“Spirit! Don’t look it is a spirit!” signed Mok, the flute playing mog-ur, before bringing his flute to his lips and playing in a effort to ward off the evil spirit.

Uba rushed forward to coax the centaur back into hiding.

“Come along Sela,” signed Uba. ‘We need to get you back into the corral.”

“No! Me want play with people!” signed the centaur.

“You can’t play with them,” signed Uba.

“Why?” signed Sela.

“Because they are scared of you,” signed Uba. “They think you are a spirit.”

“That’s silly!” signed Sela. “You play with me?”

“This Weech will stay with you for a while and . . . Dorva!” Uba waved at Lun’s second mate, who knew the secret as was thus able to see Uba, Sela and the snorkacks in the corral.

“Yes, Uba?” signed Dorva.

“Can you come in here and help this weech watch Sela?” Uba signed.

“Yes, Uba,” signed Dorva before stepping into the corral.

This stirred up things even more as to the members of other Clans, it appeared that first Uba, then Dorva, had vanished, drug into the spirit world by the strange horse-girl spirit.

“Ayla, this Clanluna needs to speak with you,” signed Iga.

“Yes, Clanluna?” Ayla signed as she levitated the pig that used to be Zab.

“What are you doing with that pig?” signed Iga.

“This weech is teaching Zab a lesson,” signed Ayla.

“Zab may act like a pig, but that is a real pig, not a man,” signed Iga.

“Well he used to be a man, this weech turned him into a boar,” signed Ayla.

“Sow,“ signed Iga. “You turned him into a sow, not a boar.”

Ayla glanced between the hind legs of the levitating pig, which was now, squealing loudly at Iga’s signs.

“This weech DID turn him into a sow,” signed Ayla. “This weech is not very good with wand magic.”

“Well, the pig was not what this Clanluna wanted to speak with you about,” signed Iga. “Mio needs to go through 1st Rites again and has asked that Harr be the man to perform them. But he will not without the consent of his mates.”

“Some man FORCED Mio!” waved Ayla. “Tell this weech who it was! This weech will turn him into a pig too!”

“You may do that if you wish,” signed Iga. But for now, this Clanluna’s first concern is Mio. You are a clanluna. May Mio use your mate for her healing?”

“Of course she can,” signed Ayla. “This clanluna does not mind at all. And this this clanluna is certain that Viza won’t mind at all. She is, after all, her mother’s daughter. This clanluna will speak with her.”

Iga gestured at the floating pig.

“Oh very well,” signed Ayla before releasing the levitation charm, causing the pig to fall to the ground before she waved her wand at him and shouted:

“Finite incantatum!”

The pig turned back into Zab, who scrambled to his feet, looked at Ayla fearfully and ran away waving: “Mog-ur!”

One of the magical tents had been set aside for this. So when Harr entered, he found Mio sitting on the couch just inside the entrance. She turned at the sound of his entrance and gazed fearfully at him.

“This man greets you,” signed Harr.

“Can we speak out loud for tonight?” Mio asked, in Sharamudoi.

“Of course,” replied Harr. ‘What ever you need to heal.”

“I think I need to be a woman of the Others for tonight,” mused Mio. “So for tonight, let me go back to being Jetamio of the Sharamudoi, not Mio of Creb’s Clan.”

“Then I insist you call me Harry,” replied Harr.

“I’m not a Mudi. So I’m not quite sure what to do first. How do we start this?” asked Mio.

“We could start with a hug,” offered Harr, as he held out a hand to help her to her feet if she wished. “Would you like a hug?”

Jetamio took the offered hand and let him help her stand. Then, tentatively she stepped forward and put her arms around him. She felt Harry envelope her in his arms, he didn’t try to go further . . . he just gently held her . . let her feel safe. . . . Soon she felt safe enough to let her self go. . . She pulled him closer as she began to sob.
