Davey had never been one to make a big deal of his birthday. In fact, it was a day more often than not spent performing or forgotten. And he preferred it that way. Reminding himself of the fact that he'd grown one year older seemed almost sadistic to him. However, this year was different. The schedule was clear for the entire weekend before and day of his birthday, which fell on a Monday that year. And after being prodded to celebrate by countless friends (and prodded the hardest by Jade and Litzy), an idea had occurred to him. If he was going to have a birthday celebration, it was going to be something not to be forgotten.
That November 20th, the mansion of a vast estate in northern England was brimming with black-clad guests, all of whom were there to celebrate the birth of Mr. Davey Havok. There were at least a thousand people in attendance. Family, friends, friends of friends. Celebrities, socialites, press and royalty. It was a 'Black Birthday Ball,' an event born from Davey's goth sense of imagination, and it was every bit as lavish and stunning to behold as he had imagined.
Davey stood in the foyer greeting guests as they arrived dressed in tuxes and elaborate gowns. He was hugged, kissed and treated like the center of attention, which he always enjoyed. Jade, Hunter and Adam, were of course nearby, entertaining guests or their dates for the night. For them the night was already kicking off and sure to make a steady climb to a high point. But a nagging worry in the back of Davey's mind was starting bring his night down.
"Hey, he's here," Jade said in his ear, coming up to him while he had a moment between guests.
"Who's here?" Davey asked, absentmindedly. His dark eyes scanned the crowd, searching for someone as they had been for almost a half an hour now.
"The guy I was telling you about."
It was starting to ring a bell. Some guy Jade wanted him to meet. He'd been trying to arrange an introduction for months but the AFI schedule was so hectic. He must've invited him to the ball.
"Oh right. What's his name..."
"Tyler Scott," Jade said.
"Right. That is it," he said, still scanning the crowd. "Jade, have you seen Litzy?"
"No...she's not here yet. Is she?"
"No. But she told me she'd be here early."
"Well did you call her?"
"I tried, I can't reach her. Do you think she's still on the plane? Her flight was supposed to land at 4:00. It's 7:30 now. She hasn't checked into her hotel room either."
"I'm sure she'll be here," Jade said. "You worry about that girl like she's five or something."
"It's just that you know how bad she is with directions and she said she got the itinerary Shannon sent -"
"Then she's fine," Jade said, taking him by the shoulders. "Calm down. She'll be here."
Davey nodded and sighed.
"So where's this friend of yours?"
