I think I spent more time researching this ficlet than writing it!

One of the aspects I find most fascinating about the Ryuichi/Tatsuha pairing is the age difference. I don't typically enjoy fics/pairings with that sort of a gap in age. But this one is the exception. I could go into why but that's overly ranty and that's what my livejournal is for. Basically, it opens up a bunch of interesting scenarios.


Here are some of the sources I looked up:

Concerning the age of consent, some provinces and regions make out their own laws. Generally, the age of consent is 13 (other reports state 14, some 12), but in some places the age of consent is set locally as high as 18.

According to the national laws 13 is the age of consent. so it would not be an offence for two 13 year olds to have sex. Subsequent laws make it illegal for an adult (20+ ) to have sex with a minor/ child, defined in Tokyo as someone under 18.

Article 2 - Definitions
For the purpose of this Law, a "child" means a person under the age of 18 years.

Age of majority
The Article 3 of the Japanese Civil Code states that the age of majority is twenty (20) years old.

Age of consent for sexual activity
The Article 177 of the Penal Code puts the age of consent for sexual actitvity at thirteen (13) years.
