See Me, Hear Me
0 reviewsMy first poem, written halfway through the night. It's based on how I felt a few years ago.
1Moving
All around me I see people,
They don't see me,
All around me I hear people,
They don't hear me,
I stand before them,
And they turn away,
I try to speak,
And they raise their voices,
I wave my hands,
And they shut their eyes,
I shout and scream,
And they only shout louder,
My only reprieve is the night,
When sleep welcomes me to its gentle embrace,
In my dreams I am not alone,
And the world is not so cold,
My voice joins the chorus,
My face is recognised,
They do not shout over me,
They do not turn away,
But then the night is gone,
And my harsh reality returns,
Everyday the same,
With nothing but my sorrow and my desperate hope,
That one day I am heard,
That one day I am seen,
That one day I am no longer alone,
In this world full of people.
They don't see me,
All around me I hear people,
They don't hear me,
I stand before them,
And they turn away,
I try to speak,
And they raise their voices,
I wave my hands,
And they shut their eyes,
I shout and scream,
And they only shout louder,
My only reprieve is the night,
When sleep welcomes me to its gentle embrace,
In my dreams I am not alone,
And the world is not so cold,
My voice joins the chorus,
My face is recognised,
They do not shout over me,
They do not turn away,
But then the night is gone,
And my harsh reality returns,
Everyday the same,
With nothing but my sorrow and my desperate hope,
That one day I am heard,
That one day I am seen,
That one day I am no longer alone,
In this world full of people.
