Straining Against Metal Bars

A short poem about love. (I know, NOT a good way to summarize a poem, but oh well!)

My hands are outstretched.

My arms are straining against metal bars.

The cage that keeps us apart,

The prison so far away from the sun and stars,

Locked away and left forgotten,

My hands reach out to the memory of you.

My body is willing to give up

but my mind is still new,

I'll keep my hands open,

and wait for your gentle caress.

My arms outstretched

waiting for your loving kiss.
