Gunn watched his best friend and the one that he was falling in love with. He felt guilty for falling for her. But it wasn't his fault. You couldn't help who you fell in love with. But it felt like more then he had ever felt for another person.
The couple were in a fancy restaurant. It had the makings of a very romantic evening indeed. And that told him something. It was something he had not wanted to think about. Had he waited too long to make his move?
Anger filled his entire body as he watched Wesley get down on one knee. That oh so traditional way that one proposes. And what's this? Damn! Fred wrapped her arms around him. That could only mean one thing. And that was just beyond disturbing.
Gunn stormed off. There was no way that he could stand there and see the couple like that anymore. They were just too happy. And that was bad for him. For his entire heart was now shattered. Into a million pieces that may never be able to be put back together again.
But there was still something he could do. It wasn't too late yet. After all, they weren't actually married yet. The ring didn't really mean a damn thing. Except that Fred had returned his best friend's love.
He found himself in a dark alleyway. He picked up a metal trash can and threw it. The thud and then the metal scraping sound made him feel better. But it only lasted for all of two seconds. His anger was still there.
So, he did the one thing he knew would make him feel better. He stormed off to the bar. The one that he knew some wild guys hung out at. The one that a fight was breaking out at every five seconds. For, he just needed to bloody and bruise someone. And it didn't matter anymore. He just needed a release to his anger.
The back of the van. It wasn't an unusual date for the two young lovers. In fact, it had become the norm. They would just hold one another, hardly even having to say a word. It was as if they were meant to be.
Oz held her tightly in his arms. It wasn't long and he would be gone for two weeks yet again. The band was something that he loved. But it was something that he was also starting to hate. Because it was taking him away from her more and more.
The cool night meant that they were wrapped up in a blanket, snuggling. Just enjoying the feel of the other's body next to their own. Again, it was gonna be a long two weeks that they had to be apart. And with Christmas only a week away.
"You're gonna miss our first Christmas together." Finally, Faith shattered the wonderful silence that had been between them.
"I know." Oz held her tighter. "I'm not looking forward to it. But I have to."
"I know." Faith sighed heavily. "Leave it to me to fall for a guy that has to be gone half of the time. Our cell phone bills are gonna be sky high. This sucks beyond the telling of it."
"Agreed." Oz, as usual was doing his man of few words routine. It wasn't that he didn't have much to say, it was more like he just didn't need a lot of words to say what he felt. "But I'd do anything for you."
"Anything?" Faith looked up into his soulful eyes. "Would you give up being in the band?"
Oz stiffened a little. The band had been his one release. He and Spike had started it. Although, Spike was now only a front man for them. It was him and a few other guys. Even Tara's brother had split from the band. He was the only original member left anymore.
"That's a tough one." He was silent for the longest of times. "For you, I would."
"Thanks." Faith leaned up and kissed him. Kissed him long and hard. "I would never ask you to. I was just wondering if you would really be willing to give it all up for me. I knew you loved me, but to give up the one thing that means everything to you, now that says something."
"You mean everything, not the band." Oz quickly returned the kiss. "Besides, this tour part of it is during break. You can maybe join me."
Faith smiled big. "I think I can manage to get the parental units to allow that. May have to lie, but it'll well be worth it. And I'm sure that if Wesley's not to busy with his honey, he'll be more then happy to help me out."
"Good." Oz gently kissed her on the forehead. "Maybe I'll have a surprise for you."
"Oh!" Faith sat up quickly. "I love your surprises. Just knew what it was and before you say it. I know. It wouldn't be a surprise if I knew what it was."
"Exactly." Oz pulled her back down so that he could again wrap his arms tightly around her. "You are worth it all.""""

A little bit of red dust fell upon Tara. She was so stunned that she could not move. It had come as a surprise, the gun pointing at her. Then the loud bang. But then, there was the cracking sound as the bullet had gone off target and hit the brick wall next to her.
Anya instantly fell in a heap to the ground. "I can't. My God! How in the hell could he have asked me to kill my own sister. The bastard. I can't ever forgive him for that."
Tara was by her side in an instant. She was still unsure of what was going on. "Sister? And who made you do this?" The gun had fallen with a clang the minute that Anya had fired it. So, Tara kicked it further away, just to be on the safe side.
Tears were falling at an alarming rate down Anya's face. Her body was shaking she was sobbing so hard. "Our father." She put her head in her hands. "He asked me to kill you. Oh my God! And I almost did it!"
Tara was now on the ground next to her sister. At least, that's what she was getting that somehow she and her were related and that her father was their father. Not much was making sense at the moment though.
"Anya." Her voice was soft and gently. "Talk to me. I'm your sister. And Dad is our dad, right?" Between the sobs, Anya managed to nod. "Why did he ask you to kill me?"
"Because, he tried himself and failed." The words were choked out. She could barely breathe at this moment. "He has had me watching you. Ever since we all moved to Sunnydale. He wanted me here to watch over you."
"Why? Do you know why he would do such a thing?" Tara was more then a little confused. But it did not surprise her that her father had wanted her dead. It just made sense. She knew he had been the one to poison her. But to actually go to the lengths of having someone shoot her.
"You aren't what he calls pure." Finally, the tears had slowed and Anya's breathing was coming back to normal. "You were shy but yet headstrong at the same time. Just like your mother. And then, when you started to date Willow, he just totally lost it. He needs perfection in his life. And you being gay, well, that was one of the unpurest things he could think of."
"So, Dad asked you to shoot me." Tara shook her head. It was all so much to take in. "And you agreed? And I have to ask, have you always known that we are half sisters?"
"Yes to the last question." Anya sighed as she wiped the tears away. "I've known about you and Donny since the very beginning. And as far as why he chose me over you, I don't know. And why did I decide to try and go through with it? It's hard to explain. Dad just has this power over people. Me included."
Tara nodded sadly. She had almost been under that influence once upon a time. But she had somehow managed to break free. Part of it was just the will that she had inherited from her mother that he had tried to break everyday. But more importantly was the fact that Willow had entered her life.
Ever since that redhead had come into her life, she felt a strength that she didn't know could exist. And she believed in her so much that she could not now help but believe in herself as well. With the love of a good woman, there was nothing that she couldn't do or conquer.
"It's all right." Anya looked into those blue eyes. So much caring and understanding shown in those eyes. "The important thing is that you couldn't go through with it. You came through in the end. And that is what matters."
Anya's mouth fell open. She was stunned at the kindness she was being shown. Especially since she had nearly taken the life of the woman that was sitting on the hard cold concrete with her. "You can't be really forgiving me, can you?"
Tara shrugged. "I look at it this way, with you being able to get over Dad's power, I'm getting a sister out of the whole deal. And that's something I never had."
Anya pulled Tara into a hug. "What are we going to do now? I mean, do others have to find out about this? I mean Dad, yeah. But do we have to tell them that I actually almost..."
Tara tightened the hug she had on her sister. "All we have to tell them is that we discovered something about it each other. That we are family. And that Dad tried getting you to do something that you never wanted to do in the first place. Unless of course, you wanted to hurt me."
"God no!" Again tears were forming. "That was the last thing I ever wanted was to hurt you. Or Xander or Willow. But I could so very easily have."
"Yes." Tara gave her a squeeze. "But you came through in the end. And I look at what people are, now what they once were. You are going to be a wonderful sister. Of that I know."

Giles stared at her. The woman that had captured his heart only to break it so badly. It was unreal, the pain that he felt. He had never felt this bad before in his life. There had been only one other that he had cared for. And when she had left him, it had been hard but bearable.
When Jenny had left him, he had felt as if he had died inside. Like there was something that had been so full of life and then suddenly it ceased to exist. He hadn't realized how painful dying could really be. Not until that moment.
Even though she had said that she had hoped that she wanted to talk, she had yet to say a word. It was now going on long ten minutes of uncomfortable silence between the two of them. It was getting to be too much for him.
"If you aren't going to say anything, I would prefer that you leave." Giles stood up from the kitchen table. He felt a hand on his and he quickly sat back down.
"I want to talk." Jenny managed to look him the eye. "I'm gonna start by saying this. I've never told anyone the things that I want to tell you. Never in my life have I trusted anyone to say the things that I'm about to say. So I'm sorry if I'm not sharing as quickly as you may want me to."
Giles leaned back in his chair. He hadn't known what to expect. This wasn't it. "I just want to know anything and everything there is to know about you. But I want you to do it in your own time. I can tell that there is much pain."
Jenny swallowed hard. "There is. There is so much pain that most of the time I feel nothing else. I've put up this wall so that no one can learn the real me. You are the first person that I want to open up to. But it's gonna be hard. It's gonna take time. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize." Giles took her hand in his own. "It did hurt very much, you saying the things that you did. But I'm beginning to understand why you said and did what you did. Don't force yourself to tell me. Just know that I will be here for you, in any capacity for you." He couldn't help it. His heart simply was melting. He knew now that there was just so much pain.
"What did I do to deserve you?" Jenny smiled for the first time. But it was a rather sad smile. "No one has ever gotten me the way that you do. You just seem to know what to say and do. You seem to be the one that knows me the best."
Giles squeezed her hand. "Then it is indeed an honor and a pleasure to be the one. Again though, only share what you feel comfortable with. And know that I will never judge you."
Jenny sighed heavily. "There's a lot to tell. I could start with my childhood. But then, one could say what childhood. My parents basically just used me. They really didn't care about me or my brother. All they knew was that I brought in money. They were my foster parents. My parents died when I was only two. My brother was four. That's the only life we knew."
"That's simply dreadful." Giles suddenly felt this anger building up inside him. "They should have paid for that. Wasn't there anyone watching over them?"
"We had the visits." Jenny shrugged. "They always seemed to cover and me and George were terrified of saying anything. They threatened us. They even put us in the closet for hours at a time. That's why to this day, I'm still claustrophobic and I hate the dark with a passion. They would starve us. And our cases just seemed to fall through the cracks."
"You didn't tell anyone?" Giles was now beyond angry. If he ever came across these two abusive people, they would wish that they had never been born. He would, no. Fighting violence with violence was of no use. He would find another. And the best thing he could do was to make sure that Jenny knew that he was different. That he cared for her. And not just because of her looks, her supposed flamboyant personality, or silly things like that. He loved every square inch of her, faults and all.
"Who would take my word over theirs?" Jenny shook her head. "We weren't the first set of kids to grow up in that house hold. They were commended by everyone. And that's another reason we slipped through the cracks." She looked into his eyes. There was such a love there. One that she had never seen before. "You know, there is more."
Giles quickly got up. He pulled her up and took her into a tight embrace. He just held her for a moment. "I know there is more. There will always be more to tell. But for now, that's enough. You will share with me when the time is right. For now, I just want you in my arms. If you'll still have me."
"Are you mad?" Jenny pulled back, the biggest grin ever on her face. "I was so stupid. I should have known that you would understand."
"You should have known that I would love you even more." Giles kissed her gently. He slowly lead her to the couch. He grabbed the blanket off from the back and wrapped both of them in it. "I want to hold the most wonderful woman in the world. All night long."
