An Artist
(#) sherrybaby 2005-12-30
I really like your honesty here. Not many people are willing to stick their necks out and cry "The emperor is naked!" I have abandoned the "art" world because too many people (most of society) are blind little sheep, just bleating along one behind another, not a single visionary among them.
I do hope you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor....well, it's not really labor when you love it so much, is it?
Back to your poem: two parts that really stood out for me are
" the eyeliner from your mother's purse
than the cooking oil in your kitchen"
and
"anyone who sees what I do
will say "It's beautiful"
I understand.Author's response
Thank you very much, but there's really no need to "abandon" the art world. There were two artists, I was once told, one painted all the time reading all the art magazines and and following the trends, and on the other side of the wall the other painted what he wanted to paint in a kind of solitude; and nobody really cared.
There is hope in the art if you care for it.
