Two hours passed and it was now eight o'clock. Emma and Gerard fell asleep in each others arms. Mikey and Alicia left about half an hour ago. And Charlie's parents were still there as well, now talking to him about whatever they wanted. Charlotte curled up next to Gerard and Emma, smiling at the adorable sight. She slowly tried to turn him to his left side, trying to put a stop to his loud snoring. He woke up though, and saw hat she was doing. He figured the only logical thing to do was tickle her ribs.

"Gerard stop, you'll wake Emma."

"No, I won't you will, so stop laughing."

"Stop, Gerard, stop haha," she playfully smacked his arm and he discontinued his fun.

"Party pooper." She stuck her tongue out at him and just pecked her lips.

"But I'll still let you hang out with me," he ran his fingers through his hair to look like he was "too cool for school."

"You sure it's not the other way around?" Charlotte teased.

It was then, Gerard noticed Charlie's parents staring at them like they were some kind of morons.

"I'm sorry, we were just playing around, I swear we weren't doing anything. We'll stop if it's making you uncomfortable for some reason." he looked at Charlie, his curtain was pulled around the bed, a sure sign he was fast asleep.

"No, it's not that. It's just..." Charlie's mother's voice trailed off.

"It's the gift isn't it?" Both of the Parkers nodded their heads.

"I know it's a little extravagant but I really love Emma. You see we..." Gerard looked at Charlotte, unsure if he should proceed. She nodded.

"We found her in a graveyard about two weeks ago, mourning the loss of her mother. She ran away the next morning. We went looking for her because even though we only knew her for a few hours we fell in love with her." Gerard put his arm around Charlotte and ran his fingers through Emma's hair.

"That's when all of this happened." Charlotte began. "We were driving to the graveyard we met her in the night before and I started to cry, then Gerard took his eyes off the road for a second to comfort me, and Emma was standing in the middle of the street and we hit her." Charlotte started to cry, so did Elaine.

"It was a wreck! Gerard got deep cuts all over his body and now Emma's here!" Gerard put his arm around Charlotte and laid her head on his chest. Emma stirred in her sleep for a moment but found a comfortable spot between Charlotte and Gerard's legs. Gerard brushed away the hair from her eyes and watched her sleep.

"I really just wanted to show her how much we cared and that we never wanted her to run away again. She might've been in it for the diamonds at first, but I think she go the point," Gerard said, never taking his eyes off of Emma.

"Wow, we didn't know you guys went through so much. We're sorry for being skeptical about the gift you gave her. Our opinion didn't even matter in the first place, with Emma being in your care and all." JAck apologized.
"It's okay, had you done what I did I would've reacted the same way." Gerard admitted.

"But there's one thing I want to get straight. Emma's not your daughter? " Elaine looked intense.

"No, but after all this is over I was kind of hoping to adopt her." Charlotte looked at him with amazement. She wanted the same exact thing. Gerard saw the look on her face and kissed her forehead.

"All in due time," he said in low tone. "All in due time."

"Come on, we should go." Charlotte tugged at Gerard's sleeve, wiping the tears from her eyes at the same time.

"Emma, sweetheart, we gotta go. But we love you." Gerard leaned in to kiss her forehead. Charlotte did the same.

"I love you too," her voice sounded weak and tired. She sat up to give them quick hugs ,then, let them be on their way.

"Gerard!"

"Yes, sugar?" he asked preparing to step over the threshold.

"Thanks for the necklace." she didn't open her eyes so she didn't see Gerard smile down on what he thought was a sleeping angel.
