"Yeah. You too. They were okay? Good. Really? Okay then. Okay. See you. Bye." I watched as Mike laid the handset back on the stand. He turned to look at me.
"They loved the photos. They're putting them on the Album." I smiled.
"Good. But that can't be why you're that happy. You're never that happy." He smiled again.
"What? I can't be truly happy for once?" I looked at him skeptically, and he cleared his throat.
"Okay, Okay. They want us to be full time clients of Fueledbyramen. They can't pay us much, but it'll mean great references to other companies." I laughed.
"That's great Mike! Really." I hugged him. He smiled again.
"Party." I raised my eyebrows.
"What?" My lips began to curl into a smile and he laughed.
"Party." He repeated. "They're holding a Fueled party. We're both invited. There's going to be loads of people there. Including the guys that you did the shoot for. Fall Out Boy."
A look of comprehension came over my face. "Ohh! So that's what they were named."
He laughed. "Yeah. So, Party?"
"Of course!" I yelled. I mean, who would turn down a party?
I slipped into my new vans, ones that I bought especially for a party. It had been a long time since I had the chance to go out, a long time since I had the chance to update my... habit. I walked out of the front door, careful to step over the dented driveway that I had caused during one of my little escapades. I stepped into Mike's car, and he started the engine. I put my bag on the floor, and opened up the zip compartment. Observing the contents, I smiled happily and closed the bag. Not before Mike observed what I was looking at though.
"Taela! You're not going to are you? We'll be on a sort of business trip! You can't do that there." I sighed and turned my head to Mike. In the bag had been a few bags of cocaine, and I'm guessing that's what he was talking about. Well, he certainly wasn't talking about the cigarettes.
"Oh stop it Mike. It's not like I'm going to do it in front of them. I'll do it in the parking lot or something." He shook his head and turned a corner.
"You'll get caught, Tay. Then they'll want you out of the company. I'll have no choice but to fire you." I looked at him again.
"Stop worrying. I won't get caught. Trust me." I looked out of the window to my right.
"Sure Tay. Whatever you say." I rolled my eyes at the sarcasm, and let him drive me to the party. Okay, so I loved him, he was a father to me, but I swear to god, he needed to stop giving me lectures.
Arriving at the party, I stepped out of the car, and headed towards the doors at the edge of the parking lot. The party was being held at a bar, so it was easy to find, and easy to park. We came to a bouncer at the doors, and he asked us for our names. Letting us in, he opened the doors, and we stepped into the party. John Janick, one of the founders of Fueled, greeted us at the door.
"Hi! We're really glad you came. Vinnie couldn't make it, so, I'm kinda' overseeing everything." Mike and I shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you." I nodded towards him and he smiled.
"You're the photographer who did the photos for our boys from FOB? They were awesome pictures." I laughed.
"Thanks. It's nice to know they are appreciated." He smiled.
"Of course. Well, those guys are here somewhere if you want to say hi, and I'll be wandering around, so I'll see you guys later." And walked over to greet some other people that had just walked through the doors.
Me and mike walked over to the bar, and ordered us two vodka and cokes. Grabbing the drink, I walked over to where I had spotted the guys.
"Hey guys." And I situated myself between Andy and Joe.
"Hey Tay! John mentioned you would be here." Pete smiled at me.
"Yeah. He invited me and Mike because of the shoot I did with you guys." I motioned to Mike who had just come over to join us.
"Hey guys." He sat next to Pete.
"Hey man. Oh, John told me to tell you that we'll send both of you-" He looked to me, "Copies of the CD when it comes out. Just to say thanks." Mike smiled.
"Thanks! That's really nice. Isn't it Tay?" I looked up at Mike from my already half-empty glass.
"Yeah. Look, I'm, err, going outside for a bit. Mike, you coming?" I looked to Mike with a look that told him what I was going outside to do.
He sighed. "Yeah. We'll err, be right back guys." He nodded, and the four of the men looked curiously at us.
"We'll come with you. Me and Patrick were going to get some fries anyway." Joe stood up, and Patrick copied.
"Erm, well, we were planning to go on our own..." Mike looked at me nervously.
"Oh Mike, stop worrying. It's not like they'll blab to anyone..." I walked out of the bar and into the parking lot. I heard Patrick whisper behind me.
"What does she mean? What will we blab?" I could imagine Mike shaking his head.
"Oh jeez, you'll see."
I approached a wall, and sat on it. Opening my bag, I took out a flat mirror that I had in my bag. I opened the zip part to my bag, and took out a little bag of coke. I looked up in time to see Pete and Joe scoff, and Andy's eyes pop out of his head.
"What's...? What's that?" Patrick asked. Though I got the feeling he already knew what it was.
"Coke. Relaxes me." I said simply, like it was an everyday thing. They obviously didn't do this sort of thing. I didn't care, just as long as they didn't judge me by it.
Laying out the coke into a small straight line, I Looked expectantly at Mike.
"Mike. Dollar bill please." He rolled his eyes, and looked behind him.
"There's no-one behind you. Bill. Please and thank-you." He rolled his eyes again, and took a dollar bill out of his pocket. Handing it to me, I could sense the five pairs of eyes that were on me. Pete and Andy both had disapproving looks on their faces, Joe looked... almost interested in what I was doing, and Patrick just looked upset and sad.
I rolled the dollar bill into a small tube, and held it up to my nose. Leaning down, I snorted the small line through the bill and up my nose. I could hear the collective sighs coming from the group, and I looked up.
"What? Oh don't worry. I do this all the time." Okay. I think I just digged myself into a deeper hole.
"You? A junkie? I never would've thunk it." Joe smirked. I laughed.
"There are a few things you don't know about me Joseph." I smiled; I was beginning to get that feeling. I giggled lightly.
"You know, I might tag along. I've got the munchies now." I giggled again, and hopped off of the wall.
"Point the way to the food!!"
"They loved the photos. They're putting them on the Album." I smiled.
