Haikus on the Way Home (tm)

by MarkPoa 1 review

Haikus I wrote while riding the bus home from work. These were written between 2003 and 2005. I haven't written any lately, but usually because I'm writing longer poems.

World passes outside,
Time slipping fast through my fingers
Like water through sand.

*

I wish she were here
Sharing my triumph, that now seems
Hollow happiness.

*

Smiles, laughter and tears;
Photographs and memories;
Past the dust covers.

*

I look and search 'round,
But she doesn't wish to be found.
Beautiful treasure.

*

Tears fade with the wind,
The sun quickens the beating
of a heart just thawed.

*

Last gasp, dying breath.
I call your name, through cold lips
Open, yet soundless.

*

Stars and moon bright white,
Peeking through the darkness black.
Wind howling her name.

*

Grok me? No one can.
I fear I must endure this
Wall of loneliness.

*

Did not hurt seeing
You with him, I just smiled, shrugged...
Wait, vision's blurring.

*

Light wind, ice cold tea,
A gently swaying hammock
Heart at peace... sweet bliss!

*

Words of praise ringing,
What am I still afraid of?
Failure or success?

*

Half crescent cradle,
How comfortable do you seem,
Against black velvet.

*

My heart says to stop,
Though my mind says "Stupid, go!"
I let the fire live.

*

Never saw bluebirds,
Yet with you here, happiness
Simply put, it's true.

*

The chasm between us,
A great expanse, which only
Twin hearts could have bridged.

*

Perfection? Hardly.
But then, even bright silver
Luna has her spots.

*

The moon lights the path,
Shadows flee silver fingers,
A smile embraces me.

*

Sleep, sweet sweet darkness
Wrap me in your velvet cloak
Pamper me with dreams.

*

Are you here, my love?
Are my words, my heart enough?
To earn your soft lips...
