A Valentine to Fiction: Falling in Love with Writers
February 13, 2007
I am a writer,
and I fall hard for words.
The most beautiful sort of writer
is one who crosses lines;
and cares not about what others may think,
but about style and structure:
How to layer worlds and wishes
so it breaks the reader's heart,
and does not piece it back together.
(The heart is quite the masochist.)
I am a writer,
and I critique in allegory.
Sublime, seductive, stunning.
You are what you write,
and this is how I see you.
I love (you and) the way you write.
Write for me a horror story,
compose for me a fantasy,
and you will enchant me.
(It was your words that caught me.)
