Dismissed

I agree -- this one nameless solider nicely captures them all. Her story is a wonderfully meaty look at what FTT battles are like without the glossing-over that HP and MP provide, and I already feel bad when I dismiss anything (especially chocobos! Aaiiieee!), but I'll feel particularly bad now.
The fact that she had a sexual relationship had me nervous for a while, since that could easily take a turn for the cliched, but it's nice to see that you kept it anticlimactic and...not insignificant, exactly, but as a tiny facet of their relationship and of Nameless Soldier's being. The romantic feelings don't choke out everything else, which seems all too rare in fiction.
In short, excellent job fleshing out the most generic of characters, and making the reader feel for her.Dismissed

Ow. I always hated dismissing anyone just because of those quotes. I just stopped doing it after a while. Stupid, it's just a game, but it would make me feel bad! And this fic just drives that point home a bit more deeply. I think your namless soldier here is perfect in her point of view. It's heart wrenching reading her thoughts. Thank you for writing this, I very much enjoyed reading it.Dismissed

I just want you to know that this is the third time I read this thing - it's simply beautiful. And I sympathize - I always feel bad dismissing soldiers, even if they've just been taking up space. Now I feel REALLY bad...
I agree with the two reviews before me. The "nameless soldier" point of view drives the point home, as though any soldier you/Ramza were to dismiss would have some heartfelt story behind them. I wish more writers - including myself - could take run-in-the-mill characters and give them a three-dimensional backstory. Simply beautiful, once again.
