[Chapter 2] A Slow Start to Recovery
(first paragraph in Alphonse's perspective)

Brother never left Winry's side since then. He was always with her, comforting her, talking to her and just...being with her. Soon, she started to talk without stammering and she started to be more open again, like her old self. She still refused to let Ed out of her sight, as vise versa. She was really getting better...That is atleast until Colonel Mustang, Lt. Hawkeye and Lt.Colonel Hughes came to investigate...

"Sir, do you really think it's necessary for us to confront her with interegations? The girl's been through a nightmare." The Lt. Said as they drove down the dusty road to the Rockbell House. The Colonel sighed and exchanged glances with Hughes. After getting no answer, the Lt. sighed and looked through the few documens they had on the case.

Edward sat on the porch, his hand in Winry's as they played with Den. He barked playfully and licked her face, causing her to laugh. Den wagged his tail and tackled the older Elric as the two shared laughs. Edward shifted his head towards the road at the car that was pulling up. His eyes dialated as he saw who stepped out.

"Hey, Winry, wanna go take a walk or something?" He asked as he got up. He knew all to well what would happen if anything hinted about what happened to her. She'd brake down and Bam! Back to square one. Winry blinked and smiled.

"Sure, okay." The two of them got up and headed down the hill but was stopped when Roy called Ed over.

"Damn..." He mumbled as he walked up to the Colonel. Itwas going to be hard to explain everything when Winry was around all the time.

"What is it Mustang?" Edward asked, praying it had nothing to do with Winry.

"We meed to talk with Winry, Fullmetal." He said sternly.

"No! She can't handle it yet! Do you know what happens if anything hints back to that!" He hissed. Winry didn't quite hear, Riza was occupying her with a small coversation. Meas sighed and looked at Roy.

"You know, maybe the kid's got a point. Maybe for now the best thing we can do is stake out the house, see if we can find any evidence." He kept his voice low. "Maybe we shouldn't involve Winry until she fully recovers." Roy looked at Hughes and sighed.

"Your head of the investigations department." He said with a light chuckle. "Okay Edward, you win. We won't ask Winry for any information, unless it is crucial."

"...Fine." He mumbled and took Winry's hand again.

[Investigation]

"I'm not finding shit.." Meas grumbled as he flopped into a chair. The Blonde Lt. sighed.

"Nor am I. What about you Col....Colonel?" She turned around to find him not even in the room. She walked down the hallway, to see him in the doorway of Winry's work room.

"This is where it happened." He said grimly. The room was a gory sight. Tools and bottles were tossed everywhere, there was...dried blood on the floor mixed with dried oil. the table was turned over and there were, yes, some discarded clothing. But it was Winry's clothing however.

"How awful..." Riza said as she placed her hand over her mouth to keep from vomiting. True, she had seen worse cases but very few. And none of them concerned a fifteen year old mechanic getting raped. Roy stepped into the room and walked over to the wall.

"It's a good thing they didn't clean this mess up.." Roy said with a weak smile as he touched the wall. He looked up and realized, above his hand was...a maroon hand print. Not one of a normel hand but an automail hand. His first thought was Ed, but then he quickly shook the thought out of his head. 'The shorty would never to anything to hurt her...sure he probebly likes her but...not so much to force sex on her..' He shuddered and turned back to his subordinates.

"Take a look at this. This hand print must have been from the guy thay assaulted her. And from the looks of it...he's a pretty frequent costumer of the Rockbell's..."The Colonel trailed off.

"Now thats just sick." Hughes said, disgusted as he examined the state of the room.

"Winry began to tell me the story....but she failed to complete it. Not mentioning who it was or how he did it." The elder Rockbell stepped into the work room.

"I found her, up in my room, sitting in the corner with blood on her legs and a look on her face the terrefied me. I'm begging you, find who did this to my Grand Daughter." Pinako said, looking at the military Officers.

"Thats a whole lot easier said then done Ms.Rockbell. If you can, tell us what she told you.."

The old woman nodded.

"Well...it ...it was sort of late for..anyone to drop by for a tune up but...I didn't mind...After all...it was my job.....so...he came in and we headed to my work room....like we normelly do....and....he took off ....his sh-shirt so I could work on his arm......and as I was g-gathering my t-tools.....I could....feel him staring at me.....and watching me....then...when I sat down...he...he...."

"Everything after that was just crying...poor poor girl." Pinako explained after finishing the tale.

Edward leaned against the wall next to he work room, he hadn't looked in but he had just heard Granny's story. His eyes were wide as he raised his fist and punched the nearest wall. He heard Winry yelp, who was about a meter away from him. She stared down the hallway, scared stiff.

"W-Winry? Are you okay?" He asked as he looked at her expression. Winry dropped to her knees as tears began to drip from her eyes onto the wood floor.

"....he....wouldn't...stop....." She whispered.

"Oh no, Winry, hang on. Just calm down. No one is going to hurt you, I'm here remember?" He reassured her, his tried to hide the alarming tone in his voice. "Please Win, I'm begging you, don't go there. It's over and that guy is never gonna come back, okay?" True, he couldn't predict whether he'd be back again, but she had a guard dog this time.

Never underestimate the power of a Military Dog.
