I dropped the last box and dropped myself onto the floor, pulling my hot cup of coffee towards me. I looked around taking in every little detail of my new apartment, our new apartment. I have recently started moving in with my boyfriend Andrew. I think he's out with his friend's somewhere at the moment, at least I'd get some peace to myself for a bit.

I closed my eyes and kind of drifted into a light sleep, I could hear everything going on out side, the birds, cars, passer bys. But I was merely listening out for Andrew to bring his friend's back.

He always did that. Recently, he's not had much time for me, except at night, when he hasn't stayed out somewhere.

There were footsteps coming up the stairs, laughing, talking. I snapped back into reality and looked at the door, just waiting for him and his 'mates' to barge in. We hadn't even unpacked yet. "Luka!" He shouted slamming the door open. I sat and looked at him until he noticed I was there. "Come on, get the kettle on." He let his friend's in and I quickly got up.

"You got her well trained." I listened to the conversation going on between them in the living room. Oh how I wanted to throw this kettle at their heads. I pulled out 4 cups for each of them.
"Do you all take coffee black?" I asked, not facing them.
"Yeah! Black! Like real men!" Andrew shouted back, all his friend's laughed and agreed.

I decided to take a small break from Andrew and his friends, they weren't very pleasant. Seemed as if I was there to please all of them. I sat myself on the steps below our apartment, there were two other apartments here, number 1 and 2. I just stared at number 1's door for what seemed like ages, I felt sorry for whoever it was having to live underneath us. The door handle shook and the door opened to a young man.

His hair hung to his shoulders, skin so pale it looked like he never went out and a body frame just a bit chubbier than Andrew. He looked down at me and I panicked turning away and looking at the floor quickly. "Do I know you?" He asked. I shook my head vigorously. "Oh, you look familiar." He walked past me and headed down the flat stairs to the front door. I breathed out loudly and then decided I needed fresh air.

Out side was bitter and cold, maybe I should have put on a coat or something. Or maybe I should plan out what I'm going to do next some more.

Our new street was just as nice as the apartment. A small park just outside it, a long road leading out to the main, and blossom trees planted along the path. I smiled to myself remembering the time me and Andrew played hide and seek at our old local park. I hid behind a blossom tree, and when he found me, that was when we had our first kiss. It was so perfect.

My feet had some how taken me to a small fish and chips shop, my stomach made weird noises noting that I needed to eat. Shrugging my shoulders I decided to go ahead, Andrew won't mind if I'm out longer than I planned. I hoped.

I sat down with my plate of chips and a small cod, listening to everyone talking and laughing amongst themselves. I pitied me. I had no friends, no one to laugh with, no one to talk with, Andrew seemed to always scare them off. He wants me to himself, and that's what I love.

The door swung open and a breeze of cold air hit again's my bare legs, blowing my long brown hair into my face. Pushing my hair back I looked up and saw the same guy from the apartment. He paid no notice to me, he was with some other guy with a mohawk. They walked in, one sat down and the other went to order.

I paid close attention to the one sat down whilst apartment man was ordering. Yes I named him, so what. The one sat down had probably the same body frame as Andrew, nose piercing and lip piercing. Looking at his lip my tongue play with mine. He looked up, probably with the feeling of me watching him. We looked at each other for a couple of seconds when he smiled, I gave a small blush and looked at my almost empty plate.

Apartment man sat down and handed his friend his plate of chips and cod. I quickly stood up and brushed myself off when I noticed that mohawk man was talking about me. But when apartment man turned around, I made sure I was back out, making my way home.

When I got in Andrew's friends had all left, I hoped that Andrew had gone too. I let out a sigh and went into the bedroom. He was sat at the end of the mattress, obviously waiting for me. "Where did you go?" He kept his eyes on his hands.
"I went for something to eat." I replied truthfully, he stood up and made his way towards me. I felt myself tremble when his hand slid onto my hip.

In a second he had thrown me onto the mattress and made his way onto me. "What are you doing?" I shouted, he grabbed at my skirt and tried taking it off.
"I let you go out, now you repay me."
"I chose to go out." I argued. I really wasn't in the mood, especially if he was going to do it like this.

I woke up alone the next morning, my head was aching. I got up and put on a bra and shorts. Walking out of the room, Andrew was no where to be found. I sighed in relief and poured some orange juice into a small glass. It was time to start unpacking.

First off, I found my CD player and plugged it into one of the wall sockets. I looked about for a box that said 'CDs' on it and found the album 'Yes Virginia' By the Dresden Dolls. Their music really fit my life.

Dancing about the room I got half of the job done quicker than I thought. While the boxes slowly disappeared, you could start to see what a homey little place it was becoming. I took a couple of boxes down the apartment steps to pile them outside, they weren't going to be needed again.

On my way back up I bumped into apartment man, quite literally. "Ow." I whined bouncing into the wall.
"Are you okay?" He asked putting a hand out in front of him as if he was going to stroke me. I nodded my head and looked at him. "Haven't I seen you before?" Again, I just nodded my head. He handed his hand to me and I took it hesitantly. I wasn't shy, just scared.

I found myself sat on the steps with the man who I've learnt was called Gerard Way. He was lovely. We sat and spoke about our favorite bands, our first job and small things about our past. He had a nice smile, that was all I really concentrated on.

Someone opened the door downstairs and made their way up. I panicked when I saw Andrew's hair through the railings. Gerard looked at me. I'm guessing my face went white.
"Have you seen a ghost?" He asked rather jokingly. I quickly stood up leaving Gerard on the step.
"Hi Andrew." I said, voice shaking. He looked at Gerard and then made his way up to us.

The next thing I knew I was being forced upstairs by Andrew's arm around my shoulders. He was probably trying to make it look as if he weren't harming me. When he opened the door I quickly got out of his grasp and ran to the bathroom shutting the door. I heard him stomp over and he started banging on the door.
"Who's that?" He shouted. I kept my back against the door.
"His name is Gerard, we just met today."
"Oh really?" I gulped. "Open this door." I kept quiet. "I said open this damn door woman." He kicked the door so hard my head bounced off it.

After another minute or so, I unlocked the door and slid out. He was still stood there. His eyebrows were narrowed and fists were tense. I stood and looked at the floor. We were both still and quiet. Unfortunately he always made the first move.

My cheek stung and I sat on the mattress in our room, tears rolling down my cheek, letting out loud sobs. Andrew had gone out with his friend's. Again. I wanted to go out for a walk, but didn't want him to come back with me gone. There was a knock at the door. I quickly wiped my eyes and walked out the room and down the hall. Looking out the peep hole, Gerard was stood, keeping an eye on the stairs. I opened the door and peered out.
"Um...hi." He said nervously. I opened the door and let him in, knowing I would regret it if Andrew came back.

I made him a cup of coffee and we sat on the floor talking, making sure my cheek was covered by my hair. "I thought I'd come see you." He said. "About what happened on the stairs and what I can hear in my room," I sat quietly and waited for him to carry on.
