A poem of my experiences. Hope you enjoy!

Children caught between a life they once knew
And another changing.
Their thoughts and words,
No longer considered important,
Float from their mouths like dead spirits.
Oceans of tears swell up
Uncontrolled.
Others don't understand their pain
Yet they pretend they do.
Their past life seemed like heaven now.
Controlled by mainly themselves.
Now they depended on other's decisions
Like an autumn leaf
Waiting for the wind to send it flying.
Questions filled their heads.
What parent would they live with?
How could they live without the other?
As the tide changed,
Their lives moving from one almost perfect
To one that seemed incomplete.
With hearts that seemed nearly empty
Of needed love.
But one blessing kept them
From complete despair and sadness-
Each other.
