I wrote this along time ago for remebrance day in honor of my family members from a long time ago.

Peace had flown away,
Hate and despise lingered behind.
Horrible war broke out.
Gunshots rumbled like thunder in our ears,
Cannon blasts cruelly taunted us,
Drawing us closer to death.
But we marched on,
With our heads held high.
Evil spun a web stretching all around,
Its fine silk strands caught those who were oblivious to it.
Their lives sent spiralling
Away from their souls.
Worry and fear for our lives
Plagued our camp
Like a wretched disease.
Watching our fellow companions die
Was torture beyond all other tortures
Everyday we got up,
Knowing it could be our last
But we had to disregard our fear.
And fight for freedom.
Freedom from fearful lives.
Freedom from those unjust,
But most of all;
Freedom from evil.
