The reviews are amazing guys, thank you.
Patrick walked through the house, the carpet squishing under his feet as he held the phone between his shoulder and head. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are you sure that's what is going on Cad? Are you sure you're okay with this?" He asked as he walked into the bathroom and put on his deodorant.
"I don't want to go, but what can I do? Those are his rules, this is his house." She sighed. "We'll be gone for a little less than a month." She frowned. "I'll be back in the beginning of August."
"Okay, well try and have a good time, but if anything happens call me and I will be there in a second, understand?" He wanted to make sure she understood that he would be there in a heartbeat if she needed him. Even if she was miles away.
"Thanks firefly. I guess I'll see you in a month. I don't even have time to come and see you. This sucks." She pouted. "I love you, don't forget about me, okay?" She made sure.
"Never, stop being silly, Cad. It's a month. It's like summer camp. Don't forget about me. Don't go meeting some grizzly cabin boys." He smiled.
"Psh, never." She smiled. "Alright, firefly. I love you and I'll see you in a month. I'll try and call if I can." She let out a deep breath. It shouldn't be that bad.
Patrick nodded. "I love you, too." He waited to hear the dial tone and then hung up the phone. He had nothing to worry about right? Her Uncle wanted her to go up to a cabin with him in the woods for the next month. Normally he would be worried, but her uncle's girlfriend and kids were going, so there would be no chance that he would do anything to Cadence while they were up there, right? Right.
Pushing those thoughts out of his mind, Patrick continued to get ready for his day. He was going to go hang out with Patrick and Joe and Jaylyn and one of Jaylyn's friends. He didn't know her name yet, but he was sure she would be a nice girl if she hung out with Jaylyn.
Getting into his car, he drove the few blocks to where he would be meeting the guys and the girls and parked his car. He couldn't help the thoughts of Cadence that filled his head. At this time she should be heading up there with her uncle. He lied when he said he wouldn't worry about her the whole time. He would hold his breath until he heard from her. Hopefully she could call once in a while to say she's okay. Although when the phone rang he'd be afraid to pick it up in fear that it would be Cadence saying that something was wrong and that she needed him. Rubbing his face, the thoughts were pushed to the side when he saw the guys and girls.
Getting out of his car, he smiled as he walked over to them and greeted them all. These were his new friends and they were going to go places together. A lot of places.
"Hey Patrick, this is my friend Marcy. Marcy, this is Patrick." Jaylyn was the first to introduce the two, a bright smile on her face.
"Hi, nice to meet you." Patrick said as he extended his hand to her.
"Nice to meet you, too." Marcy put her hand out and met his in a handshake. That was a little weird. But, Jaylyn said he was a little bit off for a seventeen year old kid. But, not in a bad way.
"So come on, guys. I want to get something to eat and then I thought we could go to a movie." Joe said as he held onto Jaylyn's hand.
"Dude, I feel like a fifth wheel on a sick double date." Pete frowned as he looked at Patrick. "Where's your friend?" He smiled.
"A cabin in the woods for the next month." Patrick hated the reminder of Cadence, but at least they cared enough to ask about her.
"Ouch." Pete shook his head as they walked into the door of the restaurant to get something to eat. They had to keep Joe from complaining about how hungry he was.
The day had been pretty good with Pete leaving after the movie, but Patrick sticking around and hanging out with Marcy. He had liked something about her that he couldn't quite put his finger on. But, she was definitely interesting to talk to. She kind of reminded him of Cadence, but not so much. She was different. It was different.
After getting her phone number and saying goodnight, Patrick got into his car and headed home. He couldn't wait to give her a call. He didn't exactly know all the dating rules but that was okay, those always got in the way. He'd call her tomorrow and see if maybe she wanted to go out and get some lunch or something.
