The SG-1, Hammond, Fraiser at the meeting room.
"General Hammond, we need a specialist on Infection Diseases and Diagnostic as well, the last virus SG-4 brought home and it's escalation on the whole base clearly showed we have not got anyone who was specialized on this fields. It was pure luck we noticed the sign of it. This may not be the case without specialist in the next time. And you can be sure there will be a next time, there's always a next "
"I understand Doctor, and how soon can you find a suitable candidates for these positions?"
"I am not sure sir. There are lot of candidates who needed to look thought, and they are really not my fields. It could last weeks if not months. I will ask around among the staff here and the Academia Hospital maybe someone can point out some variable candidates."
"With your permission General. I may have a candidate who is practiced in both fields, and well known" /and feared /Jack added mentally "among his piers." sawing the General's questioning expression he hurriedly added "and when we last meet he spoke more then 3 languages and I heard he learnt to speak Hindi just so he can read an article." /And take his revenge on an old rival/. He almost shuddered and thanked every deity he never done anything the man would take his revenge
"Hindi. Wow I always wanted to learn it but never found the time." commented Daniel enthusiastically. His eyes lighted up like a kids in the candy store. "Maybe he could help me out with a translation or two, and teach me it.
"Sure." Jack supplied sarcastic, he well known his old friend and it sure would take more them one miracle to this happen. He rolled his eyes, making Carter giggle. "And added bonus he was once in the Air Force, sir." Before he booted himself out.
"Was Colonel? What happened?"
"Well sir. The military lifestyle did not really suited him. He is more a free thinking - and /speaking/ - guy"
"I take it he was not a military type. How much he stand out?"
"A bit."
"A bit?"
"A bit too much, sir" Jack confessed. He bowed his head and studied with interesting a spot on the floor.
-------------
Hammond groaned inwardly, he could just picture what type of man could be O'Neill's old acquaintance. How is the old saying birds of a feather flock together. If you just take the Colonel for example. Oh he just could feel the headache coming. But he knew as well, Colonel O'Neill wouldn't mentioned this guy if he wasn't brilliant on his field.
"And what he's name?" Jack looked a bit uncomfortable for a moment before he answered.
"Gregory House" When he looked up and saw Janet eyes looked like they shot fire. It was obvious what the good Doctor's opinion was about his old friend. He was grateful he counted at his friend reputations, and managed to soften up Janet a bit. Ah blackmail. What a wonderful thing, and it only cost him some days of babysitting at Cassie and her friends, the summer camping and the ski-camp with six giggling, hormonal teenager girl. No problem not at all.... Oui, he hoped he would survey it. It could not be that hard, could it? Right? Right?? His gaze met with Doc's, their eyes locked for a brief moment before Doc looked away and broke the silence.
"I heard about him, General." nodded Janet. "He is quite brilliant, known to figure out the impossible. But Colonel if I remember right he is the Head of the Department of Diagnostics at Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. I doubt he would come here."
It is possible there is sarcasm in her voice or it is just his imagination. Not important he had a replay for this. A childish smile came upon his face.
"About normal circumstances I would doubt it as well but he loves to solve puzzles and it look like he managed to anger a wrong man."
"It sounds strangely familiar."
"What ya mean?" asked back Jack with his best 'I have no idea what are you talking about' expression on his face. Teal'c arched an eyebrow, and looked seriously at O'Neill
"Daniel Jackson think, you, O'Neill and Gregory House have similar attributes."
"Gee thanks T."
"No problem O'Neill." Teal'c nodded with a very small smile on his face, Jack rolled his eyes at him, while Sam and Janet outrage giggled, Daniel snickered and even General Hammond needed to do his best to withhold the smile at their banter.
"Colonel O'Neill, you have permission to approach Doctor House, see if he would be interested work for the military and recruiter him. You need anything else?" order Hammond.
"Yes sir. I would request Major Ferretti and some special ops guys to accompany me." Jack request early quite followed, Colonel just smiled and gestured with his hand nonchalantly. "Ya known just to show him we really mean it." He smiled, when everyone took a relieved breath. Jack clapped his hand together before he outspread them. "Then I'm off." With that O'Neill was on his feet faster then anyone could stop him and made his way toward the commissary where he was sure he could find Ferretti.
As he strolled down the corridor outside the meeting room, he heard the General order Doc to look in House's qualification, and for Carter to make a background check.
----------------------------
As O'Neill assumed earlier Mayor Lou Ferretti was at the commissary, taking a launch break, the Major was just taking a swing of his café when Jack approached him.
"Hey Ferretti, hurry up we need to pick up House." At his statement Ferretti sprayed the table with café as he gapped at Jack.
"House, as Greg House." Lou asked fearfully.
"Yep." Jack supplied helpfully with a grin on his face, enjoying his old friend's reaction at the news. The other man looked at him desperately hoping he was just joking, when saw the Colonel wasn't. Lou groaned out loud.
"It's too late for asked to retreat?"
"Yes."
"To ask for a suicidal mission?"
"Uhu"
"To ask for transfer to Antarctica"
"Yep, give up Lou. Come on. We are off to see the wizard."
"More likely the East Wich." Jack just grinned at him as he pulled him out his set and guided Lou toward the exit.
"Nah, he isn't that bad. Most of the time." Mumbled the last part more to himself them anyone else as they made their exit from the commissary, leaving behind a bewildered group of scientist and solders.
