Watercolor Vision

My watercolored vision,
Flesh upon flesh,
I sought feverishly.

I could read your love like words engraved upon a stone,
Etched in the darkness of your eyes, your voice,
Our sweet interlocking of lips.

As deafening silence washed over the night, my breath mingled with yours,
Yearning the rhythm of your hips, the taste of your skin,
I fell with you.

Bathed in the light of the moon, fingertips brushing,
Your blood singing to me, the stars in your gaze,
I grasped eternity, I cried his name.

My watercolored vision,
Flesh upon flesh,
I seek feverishly.

No light doth shine now in those eyes I have come to need,
The heat of your embrace succumbed to death,
You are cold in my arms.

Though tears render me blind, they do but reveal the truth,
My blackened hands, charred embers and blood,
The ashes of our love.

I listen for your voice in the shadows, the beating of your heart,
I long to drown in your scent once more, in your soul,
Melt with you.

My watercolored vision,
Flesh upon flesh,
I sought forgiveness,

Knowing you would not return.
