Erica was left picking up the broken plates upon the kitchen floor. Anything to get her mind of everything. Cleaning up her home, seemed like the only solution to her problems. Though one face hung over her. Laughing at her. Erica couldn't help but find a new hate for Debbie. And it was darker and deeper than before. Erica was a forgiving person, but she never thought someone would dislike her enough to do this. This, was the doing of someone with a grudge. And for no good reason.

"Ow," Erica had cut herself on the glass. "FUCKER!"

She began to suckle and the blood that was seeping from the wound when the door began to knock again. Erica spun around. She was half expecting Patrick and half expecting Pete. Either one she would have been fine. She went to the door. It was being hammered down. Splintering around the doorframe. What the hell? Calm down, I'm on my way, Erica thought, That fucking door costs money you know. She breathed in deep and opened her front door. Blinding pain went through her cheek as an unexpected blow came to her face. It was enough to throw Erica to one side. Her cheek burned as a hand lifted itself up again.

"You little cheating sl-" Debbie screamed as she was about to bring her hand down to Erica again.

"Debbie NO!" Patrick shouted as he came running around the corner. Blocking the attack as he caught Debbie's elbow. "Leave Erica alone."

"Get your hands OFF ME!"

Erica watched the once happy couple struggle against each other. One of Erica's hands was feeling the spot where Debbie had hit her. Debbie was lunging forward. Trying desperately to hurt Erica. Patrick had much more strength though. With one push he sent her back away from Erica.

"What the hell is going on?" Erica screamed out of indignation. Too much had happened to her today, first Debbie in the café, then her flat, and now she was a hair inch away from being murdered.

"Oh as if you don't know," Debbie spat at her. Running forward to hit Erica again. Patrick stopped her. "You whore."

"What the fuck?"

"Debbie just leave her alone, haven't you done enough?"

"OH I HAVEN'T DONE NEARLY ENOUGH."

"DEBBIE"

Patrick pushed her back repeatedly. Debbie tried to catch her breath. Her eyes sending wild death threats at Erica who stood there baffled.

"Patrick would you like to enlighten me?" She whispered into his ear. Patrick turned around to her and giggled.

"Soon, but first lets tame the beast shall we."

Erica couldn't help but smile at him.

"I bet you two have been sleeping together."

Patrick and Erica had lost all will to argue back. Debbie just sounded pathetic and frankly laughable. Of course what she was saying wasn't true, but Patrick and Erica nodded in unison.

"Oh yeah totally," Patrick responded.

"Yes, best fuck of my life," Erica finished. Biting her lip as not to giggle so much.

"What? So it's true."

"No, it isn't true, now piss off Debbie," Erica stuttered.
Debbie couldn't help but look at Patrick and Erica. She had been bought down from the pedestal she had placed her self on. She was now lost. And now alone. She picked herself up and rubbed herself down.

"You both make me sick. Goodbye."

"Bye"

"See ya."

Patrick and Erica waved at her. Debbie was outraged. They didn't even care. Debbie admitted defeat. She turned on her heel and walked away. Hopefully forever. Patrick sighed. His tone was of relief but sadness. Relief because the worst thing about his life had finally gone. Sadness because he had let Debbie carry on for so long.

"Tea?"

"Erm tea no, coffee yes"

"Ok then."

Erica moved aside to let Patrick in. He slouched over to her sofa and sat down. Muddled and in disarray. Erica studied him. Her pulse pounding in her neck. Her stomach turning. What could she say to him? She hadn't been like this with him since, well, since the kiss. And she didn't want to make everything worse.

"I'm sorry Erica."

"Why?"

Patrick pointed at the now closed door. "For that."

"You didn't make her who she is."

"She read the note."

"Yeah she said."

"You saw her?"

"Oh yeah,"

"What did she say?"

"That I should stay away from you."

"What?! You're shitting me, what did you say?"

"I told her where to get off. Why do you think she destroyed the flat?"

Erica was walking over to her living area with two boiling cups.

"You knew it was her?"

"Lets just say I had an idea."

Patrick was shaking his head, Erica flopped down beside him. Putting her knees up in a comfortable position. The hairs on the back of her neck standing up with excitement.

"God we're a right pair."

"You can say that again."

"Well, welcome to being single Patrick."

"To being single."

They lifted their mugs in a toast. Smiling at each other. Simultaneously sipping at their drinks. They couldn't help but catch each others eyes. Erica swallowed her pride.

"I'm sorry Patrick."

"It's not you're fault."

"If I hadn't" She stop slightly, "If I hadn't have told you I loved you, you and Debbie would still be together."

Patrick grinned at Erica. She had no idea.

"Debbie and I weren't going anywhere. I've been trying to break up with her for a while now."

"What about the engagement?"

"Moment of madness."

Erica laughed. She was trying to unravel him. What was he trying to say? Patrick had leaned forward and taken not only his mug but hers and put them down. Hello, what's going on her? Erica thought. Patrick looked at Erica deep in the eye's. Finally finding the solution to his perplexion. She was staring right at him. Patrick pushed her knees down and placed his hands upon her cheek.

"Patrick what are you."

"You'll see."

He placed his lips upon hers. The taste was exquisite. It sat comfortably on Erica's heart. She allowed for his tongue to slid into hers. The kiss lasting longer and stronger than hers. He was amazing. And soon Erica had melted her entire soul into his. Water brimmed around her eyelids. Moments of longing for this. Craving. It had all been worth just this one pressure. He broke away from her and smiled.

"Erica - "

"What?"

"I've been meaning to tell you, since the party" He was stroking her face. "I love you too."
