3 reviewsafter storming out of a family fued she finds herself up at the old clifftop called 'lover's leap' its here she meets New Jerseys newest recidence a certain Frank Iero
0Unrated
As the harsh wind whipped past her chilling her skin and making her draw her hoodie around her she caught sight of him. He was standing at the edge of lover's leap gazing out to the sea and land below. He was taller then she was and his height gave him a sense of power and strength, his broad shoulders added to the sense strength. He had an athletic build yet it seemed that running was the least of his worries. His hair was dark and stopped just below his chiselled jaw. His fringe swept in front of the eyes that she would grow to trust and love. Even though it was below freezing and the north winds were sweeping across the town he was wearing a plain black t-shirt and a pair of jeans that seemed to have given up on trying not to fall apart. As she stood there watching him she felt a feeling of curiosity, who was he? She knew she shouldn't care or want to find out but she couldn't help it. She surveyed as he slowly walked along the edge of the cliff as though looking for something, suddenly he stopped rather like a wolf spotting its prey. He looked up to the sky and started to speak.
"I am the wreckage created by this world, I am the product of opinions and memories that are too selfish to be forgotten, we are the bastard children of the media boom we have no purpose in life and no life in purpose, we have a past a present but no future we are the ones who will be forgot we have no war to fight apart from the war of meaning we have ignorance and innocence on our side yet it is not enough to save the soul and clean the conscience, I leave the world in the hope the world will leave me, I care not to make sense only to make memories"
She was shivering now but it had nothing to do with the cold. Suddenly the boy lifted his arms and slowly started to lean out towards the edge, however she wasn't worried she often leant over wondering about the lives that the sea had claimed "he'll stop himself in a minute he'll stop leaning and take a step back"
However he didn't, he continued to lean then she realised he wasn't going to fall he was going to jump. The scream caught in her throat, she couldn't get the sound to escape, she had to stop him, make him step back make sure he didn't fall. As the wind whipped past her it caused the boy's hair to ruffle. The cold gave her a new sense of life she screamed a scream of desperation and fear. The boy slowly turned looking confused; as he saw her he glanced back to the sea then took a step towards her. She sighed with relief then looked up, he was coming towards her however he didn't seem to be moving it was more the world spun so he didn't have to move as though he was the centre of everything and everyone else should obey what he said. She took a deep breathe and when she looked up he was standing in front of her. He was the most beautiful boy she'd ever seen his eyes where quizzically and searching they were so dark and searching that she felt rather self conscious in front of him. His face was tanned and looked as though he spent his time outside, his arms where strong and she could see the veins through his rough skin and when he spoke to her his voice was different then before there was a friendliness to it that hadn't been there when he was at the cliff side as she looked back at him he spoke
"Ermm...is everything ok?" he asked
She looked at him shocked he seemed to pick this up as confusion "its just I heard you screaming, is something the matter? You're not being chased are you?" he looked around behind her suspiciously as though expecting a masked stranger to jump out and scream you're money or your life.
She was in shock this stranger had just tried to throw himself of a cliff now he was asking if she was okay. She couldn't help it she started to cry what had been a bad day was getting worse "you tried to throw yourself off a bloody cliff" she hiccupped between sobs. The boy looked slightly surprised by this answer and looked behind him as thought to check she was talking to him. As thought it suddenly clicked the boy's face softened "I wasn't going to throw myself off!" and to her utter dismay and disbelief he started to laugh. As she stood open mouthed she watched him throw his head back and let out a deep almost disturbing laugh, a laugh that seem as though it hadn't been used in a long time a laugh that seemed so out of place it almost appeared deadly. Suddenly she had had enough, this guy had tried to throw himself off a cliff, nearly given her heart attack and now he had the nerve to laugh about it before she realised what she was doing she had turned and stormed off, she was at the old oak tree before she heard it, the sound of footsteps, "typical, just bloody typical" she mumbled to herself "all that and now I'm going to be raped, I'm going to be followed then killed and thrown in a dumpster somewhere, oh well it'll give that creep back there something else to laugh about" she carried on walking trying to quicken her speed. She had stitch and she realised that her brothers converse where not the best shoes to have put on. She was out of breath and close to simply stopping and letting whatever looser who had been following her simply take her there and then when she felt a hand on her arm, she spun round and quickly brought round her other arm hoping to hit the 'attacker' however she found herself face to face with the boy from the hill, he smiled at her almost manically "I'm curious, once you'd knocked me out where did you plan to hide my body?" he asked looking around him as though expecting to see a sign with 'dump your attackers body here' wrote on it
"I wasn't going to knock you out but it would have served you right for stalking me, bloody pervert" she retorted she now realised he still had hold of her arm and shook him off
"Look" he said (the grin was still in place) "I just wanted to say thank you for 'saving my life' back there and I'm sorry I laughed, but I mean honestly me throw myself off a cliff and ruin these good looks? You gotta be kidding me"
'Great' she thought 'he's arrogant, cocky and thinks I wanted to save his life'
"Well as a matter of fact I didn't want to save your life I just didn't want to have to fill out any paper work seeing as I was the last to see you" she turned and began to walk off again 'I hate him' she thought to herself 'he's a stupid pretty boy with a confidence complex, I hate him and never what to see him again.' However even she couldn't deny the massive leap her heat did when she heard the footsteps once again fall beside her, as she glanced across she witnessed his grin once more
"I'm Frank" he said "Frank Iero, I'm new round here just moved in today. Maybe you could show me around sometime?"
She snorted "yeah sure" she replied sarcastically "'cos I have nothing better to do then show a pretty boy around New Jersey" and with that she speed up leaving him behind her. As she rounded the corner she heard him call out "I'm in a band" she snorted again "this is New Jersey sweetie everybody's in a band."
She had reached that gate and was heading towards the main road when she heard the faint cry from behind her
"Do you really think I'm pretty?!"
She smiled to herself, New Jersey was about to get a hell of a lot more interesting.
