I love this chapter so much. I'm serious, it's great. Harry meets his friends (awwww) and they are all odd! Yay!Freedom Of Thought

Whoa!! Beauzbatons is definitely a much more personally competitive school than Hogwarts, even without the Houses. And as for Hogwarts being strictly Light, tell me again how many in Slytherin tend toward the Light. I loved how Dumbledore's over-confidence has now come back to bite him; all his plans for Harry and no Harry to forge into his weapon.Freedom Of Thought

Beauxbatons is indeed different! Although if Hogwarts is a 'Light' school, I'd hate to see a Dark one.

I do like this story - I'm glad that you made Beauxbatons neutral, instead of frilly. Having Dumbledore block the owls of other schools also just makes sense - having only enough children each year to make up a class of 40 or so, with several of them coming outside of your usual population, just isn't viable to create anything more than a tiny village. I think that there must be other schools in England (and especially Wales and Ireland - can you imagine a group of people as traditional as wizards dropping the language and cultural separation, when muggles haven't completely?), and it makes sense that schools on the continent would be less limited by borders than Hogwarts. Hogwarts is so insular, even in canon.
Also, I like your Harry, and I think he'll grow up to be a better person with a stronger character and more skills in the school that you've set up.Freedom Of Thought

"Perhaps his actions concerning Harry hadn't been especially prudent after all." Nice bit of understatement. Perhaps pinning his hopes on a child and then ignoring him for 10 years wasn't his brightest move, either. Even if Dumbledore felt no ethical obligation to see if Harry was ok, you would think it prudent to check on the person you believe is identified in prophecy.
Good story, please continue.Freedom Of Thought

this is cool! i love the idea of harry going to a different school than hoggy! keep up the good work. i love it. what exactly is harry taking, classes that is. you could put up the list of classes he is taking for each year. that would help some.
