Takamiya was a nerve-wreck. He was more than ready to jump up, grab his cell phone right that minute, call his precious Izumi, tell him he's sorry and meet him for his birthday. There was only one thing in his way. One rather large thing actually. Seating behind a respectable desk. With all the glory in the world; a face twisted into a perfect smirk. Takamiya sighed. He knew he was in for a dark, long ride this time.
"You... Are going to have to let me go sometime-you know, Reiji," Takamiya sighed.
Aoe Reiji smirked again, this time snubbing his cigarette onto an expensive-looking ashtray.
"I am helping you. You should be grateful," he replied, turning his attention to Takamiya's blinking phone.
He raised an eyebrow and checked who the caller was, "Yes?"
Takamiya couldn't really hear what the person on the other line was but he was pretty sure it wasn't Izumi. Half of him cheered in relief while the other half sighed in disappointment.
"You don't say," Reiji said, amused, "bring it here then."
Takamiya looked at Reiji. He couldn't believe he agreed to this little 'game' in the first place. It started like an innocent and tempting fun. Reiji suggested a change in Takamiya and Izumi's relationship. So Reiji talked him into telling Izumi a little 'white lie', as he puts it. Just two days before Izumi's birthday, Takamiya told Izumi he was rushing a job which needs to be done the day after Izumi's birthday. Takamiya almost killed himself while doing it but when he saw the tinge of disappointment in Izumi's eyes, part of him felt like shouting 'Victory!' while the other part just wanted to reach out and tell Izumi he was lying. Well, the former was stronger and he kept his mouth shut. He added that if Izumi really wants it, he can stay with him for his birthday, but Izumi said no. And he hasn't said more than 5 words to Izumi since then. He felt horrible.
A knock at Reiji's office door jerked Takamiya out of his less conscious self.
Reiji called for whoever it was at the door to come in. Reiji's assistant walked in and handed over an envelope. Takamiya's eyes caught the seal of the envelope straight away. A Celtic-looking logo with an 'A.T'; Takaba's studio. He had only met the young man twice or thrice but he knew he was a certain old friend's precious lover. His mind can't help but to wonder what was inside. Curiosity, curiosity.
Reiji pulled out something that looked like a photograph from the envelope. His eyes widen. After about a second or two, his lips twitched into a very evil-slash-satisfied looking smirk. Takamiya's heart almost stopped beating at the frightening sight.
"What is it?" Takamiya asked, nervously.
"A little something for you... From Takaba," came the cool reply.
A confused look was plastered all over Takamiya's face, "Let me see it."
His hand reached out to grab the photograph. Unfortunately, Reiji was way ahead of him, pulling his hand backwards.
"Let me tell you that it's something you want..." Reiji started, "and let me tell you I expect something in return."
Takamiya frowned, "how can you expect something from me in exchange for what already belong to me?"
Without a moment of hesitation, Reiji replied, "simple. It's in my hands."
Takamiya cursed mentally, "what do you want?"
Reiji smirked. He handed Takamiya's cell phone to its owner, "call Izumi and tell him you're flying to New York."
The request was so ridiculous that it took Takamiya exactly three seconds to process it and smart as he was the only thing that came out of him was, "huh?"
Reiji smirked again.

Izumi reached home. 'Home'. How foreign it sounded. He has been living with Takamiya for months now and he hardly return home except for short visits. He swung open the door and called out for his mom. No reply came. He checked the clock, he'd just missed her. He sighed and flopped on the sofa.
The events of the earlier day replayed in his mind. He cried.
"I'm so stupid, why the hell did I cry? Aargh!" he scolded himself out loud.
"Izumi?" came a voice.
"Gah!" Izumi jumped off the couch and ran to the door, freaking out.
A hand grabbed him from behind, "relax, it's me."
Izumi turned around. Naoya. His heart screamed in relief.
"Don't do that," he said breathlessly, "how did you get in?"
Naoya shrugged, "your mom let me in before she left for work..."
Izumi stared. He didn't mean to but he did. The reason he isn't as comfortable around Naoya as he is around Akihito is probably because Naoya is pretty quiet. It's so difficult to guess what's on his mind. Wait, wait, Izumi know the answer to that - Aoe. He grinned mentally.
"What?" Naoya asked, noticing he was being stared at.
"Um, nothing. What are you doing here?" Izumi replied, blushing a bit for being caught staring.
Naoya ruffled through his bag, pulled out a beautifully wrapped present.
Izumi's eyes went all watery, "for me? Aww, you didn't have to."
Naoya shook his head and stared at his feet. Izumi smiled.
"Oh, and another one, it's from Sensei, um, Kiichi," Naoya continued, pulling out a bigger package, just as beautifully wrapped.
Izumi twitched involuntarily. He didn't want to know what was in it. He just don't.
He invited Naoya for a cup of tea. They were chatting a little when Izumi's cell phone rang. He picked it up absent-mindedly, not even bothering to see who the caller was.
"Izumi?" came Takamiya's voice.
"Uh, yeah..." Izumi replied, his heart beating. Maybe he finished his work already?
"Um, I'm so sorry to tell you this..." Izumi's heart sank. Great, more bad news, he thought, "I might be sent to New York tonight."
Izumi's stomach did a double flip. Tell him! He mentally screamed, tell him you want to spend your stinking birthday with him!
"Okay, ha-have fun."
Izumi knocked his head against the wall, Naoya stared.

Meanwhile...
Akihito jumped into his bed, pulled the bedcover up all the way to cover his face and shut his eyes tight. The front door was opened and slammed. Footsteps. Then he heard the bedroom door slammed opened. His heart almost stop. Relax, act natural, act asleep, he told himself. He started a fake snore. Yes, I'm snoring, I'm sleeping.
"Akihito, you don't snore," stated Asami, throwing his tie across the bed.
"Dope!" Akihito let out, jumping into a seating position. He stared at Asami.
Asami stared right back at him, his left hand loosening the cuff of his right sleeve. Asami's stare reign supreme. Akihito felt so very small.
"What did you do today?" Asami began, voice low and dangerous.
"Izumi came over, we talked... Oh and a very beautiful camera was delivered for me and I started taking pictures already. I was at home all day taking awesome shots," Akihito blabbered, trying his best to look like he was telling Asami the truth.
"I see, when does the part where you told the receptionist I gave you permission to go off by yourself, on foot, printed a picture of Izumi crying and sending it to Reiji, comes in?" Asami asked, closing in on Akihito, voice even more dangerous.
"... Nowhere?" Akihito almost squeaked, almost.
"Wrong answer," Asami replied, pulling Akihito up into a kneeling position.
He snaked an arm around Akihito and used his free arm to pull Akihito's chin closer to his lip. With his thumb, he parted Akihito's lower lip and kissed him. Akihito struggled a little before Asami squeezed his squirming waist.
"I'm hungry Akihito and I would eat you right now, right here," he smirked as he released Akihito who was gasping for dear air, "unfortunately, thanks to your cute little antique, we are all stuck at Eden* tonight to celebrate your little friend's birthday."
"Huh? Izumi's not celebrating..." Akihito replied, hating the uncomfortable sensation creeping up his body. A sensation he gets every night.
"Yes, he wasn't, initially. But thanks to you, Reiji had a smart idea. Now get dressed, Kiichi's prepared Reiji's kitten with a Ferragamo. I'll never hear the end of his nag if I don't dress you presentably," Asami answered, pulling a Zegna box and placing it on the bed.
"Dress me presentably? What am I? Your wife!?" Akihito complained, but took the box anyway.
"Don't complain, you know you love being my wife," Asami smirked. Akihito threw a pillow.

Notes:
*One of Asami's clubs.
What's going to happen next? Izumi's series will end in the next chapter with a HUGE birthday bash. By the way, this chapter's story is a bit scattered, eh? XD
I think though, by the time we reach Akihito's series, this story won't be so PG-13 anymore.
