2Insightful
Before the glass, so clear and bright...she sees.
Once gawky, childish features, suddenly blossomed.
Her hair, once a stringy, tangled mass...now richly shining chestnut.
Could she at last be pretty?
Could he see it too?
She hoped with all her heart he could.
And if he seeks her out again, perhaps he'll even speak to her.
To think of that, her heart leaps for joy.

Before the glass, though cracked and dark...she sees.
Once childlike, full and rosy cheeks, suddenly hollow.
Her hair, once shiny, ringlet curled...now lies flat and dull.
A sickly waif who once was pretty.
Could he see it too?
She hoped with all her heart he could.
And when she seeks him out again, perhaps he'll even speak to her.
To think of that, her heart leaps for joy.
