Even though I know we aren't the perfect couple
Ed glanced at his lover, groaning at the thought of moving. "I'm sorry, Ed. I just... won't. I won't love you. It'd end badly, and you know it." The boy looked regretful as he exited. Ed knew he would never see that perfect face coming back through the door. He hid his pain though, whispering to the boy who wouldn't hear him.
"I understand."
It still hurts...

Even though I've been through it before

He was pushed away and the boy looked at him with disgust. "No. This is a game, for fun. Nothing more."

Ed winced as the door slammed behind his newest ex-lover. He hadn't been able to help. Maybe he wasn't the one. It hurt none-the-less.
My life is like a broken record, and it won't stop until someone can finally stay just long enough to help me trust

Hughes sighed. "It's just not worth it. I'm sorry, Ed, but... I've tried. I love you, I truly do, but... It's impossible. I don't know what happened to you, but I just can't do it. I've got a wife, anyways. ... I'm sorry, Love. Goodbye."
And repeat.
Ed shook as Roy brushed his hair back, then turned his face away. Roy sighed, pulling the young boy forward, so that his head rested in the curve of the older man's shoulder, bodies fitting in all the right places. "It's all right, Ed. I understand. I can wait. I won't leave you... Ever."
