Walking into her house, Cadence was ready for her Uncle to start screaming at her. She was surprised though when the house was pitch black dark and it didn't smell as though her Uncle had been smoking his heavy brand of cigars in a while. It wasn't a fresh smell in the air.
Coming through the house, she looked around the kitchen as she spotted the note posted on the refrigerator. A smile spread across her face. Her uncle had been out with his girlfriend since Friday, which meant he hadn't been home and that he didn't even know she was gone. That meant there was no hell to pay for the weekend spent with Pete and not with him. The best part was that he wasn't going to be back until next Friday. She would have a completely worry free week.
The next morning, Cadence had gotten up and spent most of the day cleaning up the mess in the house just so she could have a worry free week and everything would be perfect for her Uncle when he got home. It meant she could go out all she wanted and spend as much time as she wanted with Pete.
That night, Pete had picked her up at her house. He had kept his eyes peeled for any signs of a man that lived in the house where Cadence had been. If he saw this guy he was going to kick his ass. There would be nothing stopping him from hurting someone who had hurt Cadence.
"Hey." Cadence smiled as she opened the car door and got in. She leaned over and pressed her lips against his and smiled as she pulled away. "How did you sleep last night?" She asked.
Pete smiled as he took her hand as his eyes wandered any of the bare skin he could see. "I slept alright, I missed you. How did you do last night?" He asked as he kissed her again.
"It was great, had the whole house to myself. My Uncle is away until Friday." She smiled as she reached behind her and put on her seat belt. "You better drive or we're going to be late."
"Do you want to get something to eat?"
"Do we have time?" She asked as she looked up at him.
"Plenty of time. They can't start without me, anyway."
"Sounds like the perfect plan then." Cadence ran her fingers through her hair as she leaned back against the seat.
"Where do you want to go?" He questioned as he stopped at the first red light.
"Pizza?"
"Works for me." He nodded his head as he tapped the steering wheel ever so lightly with the beat of the music that was playing through the car.
"This is nice, Pete." Cadence smiled as she looked at him. Their hands were still interlocking as they lay on the seat.
"Yeah, it is nice." He smiled at her as they pulled into the parking lot of a pizza place that Pete went to a lot. They'd get a fast bite to eat and then make it over to band practice.
Cadence was actually really excited to rub this in Patrick's face. He wasn't the only one capable of moving on. She cared about Pete, honestly. But she wasn't just doing this simply for the good feelings. She wanted to rub this in Patrick's face, the same way he had done to her.
"You look like you're in la la land." Pete waved his hand in front of Cadence's face, laughing.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something." She laughed it off.
"Care to share?"
Shaking her head, Cadence smiled as she leaned over and kissed him. "It's okay, I don't feel like talking about it. It's not important."
"Patrick again?" He took a bite of his slice of pizza and dropped the crust. He didn't like it much, the crust, not her thinking about Patrick.
"It's just awkward sometimes to see him." She shrugged it off as she finished the rest of her soda.
"I can bet, but it'll be fine. I'll be there, and after all you're just there to see me, right?" He took her hand as they walked out of the pizza place and back to his car. They let go of each other's hands as they made their way to each side of the car.
"Of course." She smiled as she put on her seat belt once again.
The ride to the actual rehearsal space was quiet as Pete enjoyed his music and Cadence's eyes as they drove were fixated outside of the window as she was almost counting stop signs and other things.
The car pulled to a stop and Pete pulled the key out of the ignition and turned to look at her. "Earth to Cadence." He smiled.
"Sorry." She apologized as she got out of the car and met him on the other side of the car.
"Stop apologizing about every little thing."
Cadence nodded as he pushed open the door of the rehearsal space and met with the other three guys and the two girls who were already sitting on the couch and talking amongst themselves.
"Finally you're here! Great of you to join us!" Joe shook his head as he looked at Pete.
"Sorry, we stopped to get some dinner." Pete smiled as he took Cadence's hand and led her over to sit in a chair that was near the couch. He knew she wouldn't get along with Marcy and he wasn't sure about how she got on with Jaelyn.
Jaelyn immediately smiled as she leaned over to say hi to Cadence. It had been a while since she had seen her and she wanted to know what was going on between her and Pete. Pretty much everyone wanted to know what was going on between her and Pete.
Cadence smiled at Pete as he kept his eyes on her as Patrick kept shooting Pete looks. This was getting ridiculous and he was going to have to say something about it. Oh were they going to have a long, long talk.
