In This Day and Age
Vengeance is sweet,
Loving is sour.
Peace is pointless,
So is power.
Sense is one thing,
Sensibility, another.
War is nonsensical,
Brother against brother.
Nuclear weapons,
Prejudice, hate,
I don't believe this is something
That God would create.
So show me perfection,
A false concept at best.
Because, friend, I see lies
A horrific mess.
Reality comes knocking
At my door each day.
He says "Racism! Politics!
Come and join in the fray!"
I know you are reading
The words on this page.
Understand: Simplicity is worthless
In this day and age.
Vengeance is sweet,
Loving is sour.
Peace is pointless,
So is power.
