"Pete, can we go get my doggie today?" I asked as I made breakfast.

"Yeah."

"We're getting a doggie?" Ariel asked. I nodded my head.

She squealed and I laughed at her excitement.

"Do you want to name the puppy?" I asked.

"Can I?"

"Yeah, of course." I replied. She hugged me.

We got ready and went to the pet store in town. When we walked inside Ariel immediately saw a Teacup Chihuahua.

"Can we get that one?" She asked.

I looked at Pete.

"It's up to you." He replied.

"Can I help you?" A guy asked. I nodded.

"We want this one." I said pointing to the dog.

"Are you sure? That one is a girl." He said.

"Mhmm, I'm sure." I replied.

We left the store about ten minutes later with the dog and food for her.

"What are you going to name her?" I asked. I was sitting next to her in the backseat holding the dog.

"Hmm….how about Sadie?" Ariel asked.

"I like it. What do you think Pete?"

He smiled, "I like it too."

We got back to the house and Hemmy started barking when we walked into the house.

"Hemmy, chill out." I said petting his head. "Sadie meet Hemingway."

I sat her down and she hesitated before she walked over to him.

"I think they'll get along fine." Pete said.

"So do I. Thanks for buying Sadie for me. I love you."

"You're welcome baby girl. I love you too."

Ariel was sitting on the floor playing with the dogs. She looked very content.

"I'm glad Ariel is here with us. I don't get to see her all that much and she loves you."

"I know…"

"Sometimes, I think she loves you more than she loves Gabby. Gabby doesn't treat her right. She doesn't pay attention to her." Pete said.

"How do you know that?"

"Ariel acts different when she is here then when she's at home. She's more outspoken and comfortable."

I nodded.

"Ariel is pretty much like my daughter. It makes me happy that you're so willing to share her with me."

He smiled at me.

"Are you two hungry?" Pete asked.

"Yeah."

Ariel nodded her head vigorously.

"Let's get some pizza then. Is that okay?" He asked Ariel.

"Mkay. Storm, do you want what you usually get?"

"Yep, cheese, no sauce, and lots of black olives."

Ariel made a face, "Gross."

I shook my head, "I don't think it's gross. You'll just have to try it."

She half shrugged. Pete picked up the phone and ordered the pizza. They said it would be here in about twenty minutes.

I sat down on the couch and picked up Sadie.

"You are one of the cutest dogs." I said. Hemmy sat at my feet and just stared at me.

"Besides Hemmy of course." I leaned down and pet him. He licked my hand in response.

I sat Sadie back down on the floor.

"Ariel, go wash your hands. The food will be here in a few minutes."

"Otay." She replied. She followed me to the sink. I washed my hands then I picked her up so she could wash hers.

"The pizza is here." Pete said as he walked into the kitchen.

We sat down at the table and figured out which pieces we wanted. I was successful in getting Ariel to try my pizza. She actually liked it.

"Ariel, do you want to go outside and play with the dogs?" I asked.

She nodded.

Pete grabbed my hand and we followed Ariel and the dogs outside.

Ariel was running around with Hemmy while Sadie just watched them.

"So what do you think Gabby is going to say about us getting another dog?" I asked.

"She's going to freak. I don't care though. It's none of her business what we do in our lives. I mean, the dogs are harmless."

"Yeah, especially Sadie. She's small enough to fit in my hoodie."

He laughed, "Yeah, she is, but she's a cute dog."

Ariel walked over to us.

"What's wrong?" Pete asked.

"I got a boo-boo." She said as tears rolled down her cheeks. I looked down at her knee and it was scraped up pretty bad.

Pete looked really worried.

"Babe, calm down. She'll be fine." I said kissing him on the lips.

"Come on. I'll fix it up for you." I said picking her up and Pete following me into the house.

I took her up to the bathroom and the first aid kit. I got some antiseptic cleanser and put it on a cotton ball to clean it up.

"This is going to sting a little bit, okay?"

"Okay…"

I dabbed a little on it and the blew her wound a little bit. I put some Neosporin and then a band aid on it.

"There all better. See Pete..I told you she would be fine."

"I know. I just worry a lot."

"Tank you. I wish you were my real mommy."

My heart about broke when she said that and I looked at Pete.

"Baby, why don't go play with some of your toys? I need to talk Storm."

"Okay." I helped her down from the sink and she ran off to her room.

"I told you that Gabby doesn't pay attention to her."

"I know that now…I wish I was her real mom too."

"Well, even though you're not, I consider you her mom."

I smiled at him.

"You're amazing, you know that?" I asked.

"Eh…just a little."

I laughed.

"Cocky jerk."

"Yep, that's me."

He kissed me and then it kind of turned heated until we remembered that there was a three year old in the house.
