And now we’re grown up orphans
That never knew their names
We don’t belong to no one
That’s a shame
Sasuke should be able to remember what it was to have a family, but he can’t. Every time he sees his mother’s smile, or his father’s wrinkled face, he sees them sprawled on the floor of their home. Murdered. By his brother.
Naruto doesn’t remember having a family, because he never had one. He knows his name is Naruto Uzumaki ... who named him that? Does he have a father, a mother? Did he? Why has he never heard of another Uzumaki?
Kakashi can remember what family was meant to be, but he never had it. He became a ninja because he couldn’t be anything else. He’s outlived one team, and is now the teacher of another. And still he doesn’t really belong.
