I don’t know his name, I don’t know how old he is, what he’s like. Hell, I haven’t even seen his face clearly. But some invisible rope pulled me towards him. He comes to me at night, always past twelve. He never speaks a word. All he does is lie down next to me. Sometimes he shakes violently and other times he cries. I can’t ever figure out what to do at those times except hold him tight. Eventually he falls asleep and his crying ceases. Then my eyelids grow heavy and droop.
Every morning, he’s gone and I continue with my regular life, not thinking about the mysterious stranger until night falls once more. Nobody, not even my closest friends and relatives know about him. I keep him secret, all to myself. And maybe that’s not such a good thing.
