*Pete’s POV*
“Madison, what’s wrong with you. You are such a fucking bitch sometimes. The way you treated her was just plain rude. What makes you think that you could treat people like that? Do you think you are better that everyone?” I yelled as we walked down the street.
“Not everyone, just her.” Madison said. “Plus she was rude to me too.”
“You are not better than Adriana, in fact you are not better than anyone. She was not rude to you, she was trying to help you.” I said.
“Yeah help me by calling me fat?”
“Did those words ever leave her mouth?”
“No, but they may as well have.”
“That is my point exactly. You are selfish, rude, bitchy, and I don’t even know why I’m with you anymore.” I yelled
“What are you trying to say?” Madison said starting to cry.
“Don’t cry those fake tears, they won’t get you anywhere anymore. I’m so sick of you, its over.”
“What?”
“You heard me. Take those clothes and get out of my face. Think of them as a parting gift and as me buying you out of my life.”
Madison just looked at me and for a second I actually felt bad, but I knew I had to do it.
“Good-bye” I said softly and walked to my car leaving Madison to find her own way home. I know that was really fucked up but I just didn’t want to see her at all. Plus she knows how to hail a cab, I hope.
I rushed down the road to a flower shop and picked up a dozen red roses. “Thank god I got Adriana’s friend, Justina to give me her address. I hope they don’t think I’m crazy.” I said to myself while writing out the card. “I think I figured it out.” I wrote. “Adriana will know these are from me” I thought. I drove to Trump Tower as fast as I could because I didn’t know what time she got home. I dropped the flowers off at the front desk and asked that they be put in front of Adriana’s door.
After I did that, I drove home with a sense of peace filling me. I knew I was doing the right thing. It just felt right, I felt as though this is what I was meant to do. Its weird and childish sounding but I just had this feeling.
I wanted to call her as soon as I got into my house, but I knew that it would either be over kill or just too soon. So I waited a decent amount of time, and then called her.
“Adriana Santoli, how can I help you?”
Her voice was so angelic, I could stay on the phone with her forever. We talked for a little and then hung up. “I can’t believe she agreed to out to lunch with me.” I thought to myself. Tomorrow is going to be amazing.
I needed to chill out, so I called the guys and set up plans for them to come over and have a few beers while watching the game.
“Dude, you know that designer, Adriana, I was telling you about?” I said
“Yeah, you haven’t shut up about her for 2 days. She is all you talk about.” Joe said
“Well, I’m going out with her tomorrow.”
“That’s awesome dude but there is one problem.” Patrick said
“And what is that?” I replied
“Madison” Andy interrupted
“Oh, umm didn’t I tell you, I broke up with her today.”
“You didn’t tell us anything about her, all you talk about is Adriana.” Patrick said
“Yeah well, I guess Madison really didn’t matter.” Andy said
“Or Adriana is a better fuck.” Joe laughed
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not even what this is about.” I said getting a little nasty
“I’m sorry I just thought it was funny.” Joe replied
“It’s alright. Sorry for snapping at you, it’s just that I really like her.”
“We know.” They all said
We just sat and watched the game and talked about guy stuff for the rest of the night.
Joe, Patrick, and Andy left at about 2 am. Yeah it was late but I couldn’t sleep anyway. I was too nervous about tomorrow. I kept thinking about Adriana. What was she like out of the store, would she even go for a guy like me? I fell asleep at about 6:30.
At 10 I woke up, showered and got ready. I was done by 11. “How hope I don’t look like shit” I thought. “Whatever, I did the best I could.” I left the house and got in my car. I got to Trump at 11:25. Just enough time to ring her bell at exactly 11:30. “Oh god, I’m so corny.” I said to myself.
I rang the bell and Adriana’s friend answered.
When Adriana came out, my jaw must have hit the floor, she was flawless.
“Wow, you look great.” I said
“Oh, thank you.” she said….
We walked out of her apartment laughing at the comment Adriana’s friend passed.
“Lovebirds, hah.” I said to myself.
“So what do you have planned for us today, Pete?” Adriana asked.
“Well, I thought I would take you to one of my favorite place.” I said nervously
“And where would that be?”
“It’s a surprise.”
“Hmm, I love surprises, but I have to warn you, I know Manhattan like the back of my hand.” She said. God she was adorable.
“Well then, you will have to act surprised.”
“Ok, deal” she said. “You have to tell me what you were talking about on the card.”
“Well, I figured out that I didn’t want to be with Madison anymore. That just being your friend would be better than being in a relationship with her.” I said plainly.
“Oh, well I’m sorry to hear you broke up.”
“Don’t be, it was the best thing I have ever done.”
We drove the rest of the way in silence.
We arrived at the Museum of Modern Art about 30 minutes later. I walked over to Adriana’s door and opened it for her. “Thank you” she said. She always was so polite, something I wasn’t used to. I liked it. I grabbed a bag out of my trunk, and we walked up the stairs.
“I have to tell you the truth.” She said. This made me feel anxious. What was she going to say? I thought. “I knew we were coming here.” She continued.
I felt relief wash over me.
“I figured as much.” I said
“You should know one more thing.” She said
Oh god, here it comes. “And what is that.” I replied
“This is my favorite place to go when I have free time.” She said smiling.
“I’m glad you like it here.” I stopped her half way up the stairs.
“Let’s have a seat and have some lunch.” I said. “I packed us some food.”
“You think of everything don’t you.” she said.
I pulled out a small towel for her to sit on because I figured she wouldn’t sit on the steps.
“What are you doing?” she said laughing.
“Umm, I just figured you wouldn’t want to sit on the steps without something under you.” I said shyly.
“That is so cute, but unnecessary.” She said
We sat and ate our sandwiches for what seemed like 10 minutes but was actually an hour.
When we were done, Adriana got up and cleaned everything up.
“You don’t have to do that.” I said trying to stop her.
“I know but I figured that you went through all the trouble of setting up this wonderful picnic that the least I could to do was clean up.”
“It is no trouble when it comes to you.” I said. 10 points for me I said to myself, I made her blush.
“Let’s head in.” I said.
“Yeah” she said.
“I grabbed her hand and we walked up the rest of the steps.
We walked around the museum for 3 hours, holding hands and discussing our favorite pieces, artists, and everything.
“I love the more modern pieces, they are so complex and captivating.” She said
“I do too, but I also love the classic paintings because they have more feeling.” I said.
“I disagree, look at this painting. There is so much hurt there. The artist really poured his heartbreak and loneliness into this.” She pointed out.
“Yeah, true, but look at this one. You can see all the love and passion between these two people.”
“I guess that’s true too, but let’s just agree to disagree.” She said.
I loved that she was intelligent enough to have these conversations with. Madison would never even dream of coming here with me, let alone actually have fun. This had to be the best day of my life, I felt like I was floating on clouds.
“Oh its four o’clock. I should get you home. Your friends will be waiting.” I said.
“Wow time flies when you are having fun.” Adriana said.
It was good to hear that she had fun too. We walked back to my car and started the short ride back to her place.
“So where are you going tonight?” I asked trying to start more of a conversation.
“Probably Culture Club. I’m in the mood for 80’s music. It is kind of a thing I have.” She laughed.
“I love the 80’s too.” I said.
“Really, not many people do.”
“Yeah, all of my friends make fun of me for it.”
“Well, they must be losers then.”
“Sometimes they are. Well here we are.” I said arriving at Trump.
I got out of the car again and opened her door. “Thank you” she said.
I walked her into the building and onto the elevator. I rode it up to her floor with her.
At the door, we said good-bye.
“Bye Pete. I had a really great time.”
“Me too Adriana. We should do it again sometime.”
“Yeah we should.”
Then, I leaned in and kissed her. Our first real kiss, not like the kiss I stole from her at the shop. It was soft and caring.
“Bye Pete.” She said and walked into her penthouse.
This had to be the best day of my life. Adriana is amazing. I had to see her again. Just then I got the best idea.
*Adriana’s POV*
That was the best date of my life, I can’t believe we have so much in common and that he actually likes art. That picnic was so sweet and the conversation just flowed perfectly. And that kiss, it was amazing.
I couldn’t have been in the door more that 10 seconds when Taryn and Justina came in the room asking millions of questions
“Where did he take you?” Justina said
“Was it fun?” Taryn asked
“What did you talk about?”
“Did he kiss you good-bye?”
I told them everything that happened on our date. I felt like a teenager gushing about a boy at a school dance.
“It was just perfect, that is the only word to describe it.” I said
“Adriana, that is so great. I am so happy for you.” Taryn said
“Yeah me too. If anyone deserves this, its you.” Justina said
“I know you are on cloud nine but I hope you didn’t forget about our plans tonight.” Taryn stated.
“I didn’t forget. I’m just going to take a nap, so wake me up at 8 so I can change and redo my make-up.” I said and walked into my room.
Justina and Taryn woke me up at 8 just like I asked them too.
“Is it 8 already?” I asked
“Yes now get your hot ass out of bed and change.” Justina said
“Ok Ok.” I said getting up.
I changed into a black tank top with a silver glitter design on it, a denim mini, black leggings, and black pumps. I went into the bathroom and washed my face and redid my make-up. It was darker and more pronounced.
I walked out of the bathroom to see that Justina and Taryn were ready and waiting for me.
“You girls look uber sexy.” I said.
“Thank you, as do you.” Taryn said.
“Thanks. Let’s go get our party on” I said
We got to Culture Club at 10:30. Yeah, I know I take forever to get ready. We walked right in and got a table in the VIP section. Thank god for not having to wait on that line. We left the table and went to the bar for some drinks.
“Can I have one Sex on the Beach, one Screwdriver, and one Midori Sour in pint glasses?” I said
“That will be $30.”
I handed him $30 and left him a $10 tip. I always tip well because then the bartenders don’t make you wait for your drinks, when you get there they take care of you before everyone else.
We walked back to our table and sat down.
“Look at that hottie over there” Justina said
“Ooh he is hot.” I said. “Go talk to him.”
“I’m giving him the ‘it’s ok to come over here’ eyes.” She said
We all laughed.
We finished out drinks, went and got another then walked straight to the dance floor. We danced to “Heartbreaker”, “Summer of ’69”, “What a feeling”, and a few more before we decided to go get another drink and sit at our table.
“I need a hot boy to dance with.” Taryn said
“Oh please just have fun with the girls, boys don’t make things fun.” I said
“You are saying that because you have a boy, a hot one at that.” She said
“I do not have him, we only went to a museum.” I replied.
We were all very tipsy by now. Just then the intro to “Take Me Home Tonight” started playing. I grabbed Taryn and Justina and ran to the dance floor.
We were singing at the top of our lungs.
“Take me home tonight.” I sang.
As I said the last word, I heard someone say, “I would love to.”
I jumped and turned around quickly. When I saw who it was, I was shocked.
“Pete, what are you doing here?” I said a little more tipsy than before.
“I just had to come see what this place was all about.” He said
“Oh” I replied sadly
“And of course I had to see your beautiful face.”
After that I was a little happier.
“Madison, what’s wrong with you. You are such a fucking bitch sometimes. The way you treated her was just plain rude. What makes you think that you could treat people like that? Do you think you are better that everyone?” I yelled as we walked down the street.
