We walked back into the fitting room and couldn’t even look at each other.

“I’m going back to my office, if you need me, you know where it is.” I stated

“Umm, actually Adriana, I need you to help me with the gown.” Madison stated.

“Oh, well I have a couple of things to do so Taryn can help you with it.”

“No, I only want you to do it.”

“Ok, no problem. Taryn can you go to my office and finish placing the order with the manufacturer.”

Taryn nodded and walked into my office.

“Madison, this dress won't zipper so I am going to get you the next size.”
“No, this is my size, so you will make this one fit.”
“In everything else this is your size but these dresses are cut different, so you will need the next size.”
“Are you calling me fat? Pete lets go, forget this disgusting dress. Go buy my clothes and let’s get out of this place. This designer is rude and ugly.”

“Madison, apologize for what you just said about Adriana and for insulting her clothing or I’m not buying you anything.” Pete said

“Sorry” she said

“Ok, so let me ring you up.” I said. “Your total is $6,248.”
“Wow” Pete replied.
He handed me his credit card and walked away. When I looked up, Pete was talking with Justina. I felt a twinge of jealousy because I saw Justina pass him a piece of paper she just wrote on.

“Whatever” I said to myself. “If she wants to flirt and get involved with a taken guy that is up to her.”

“Umm hello. Can you give me my stuff?” Madison said interrupting my thoughts.

“Oh, I’m sorry here are your things and Pete’s credit card. Have a nice day and please come again.”

“Yeah yeah.” She said. “Pete, lets get out of this dump.”
“Madison, what’s wrong with you. You are such a fucking…” I heard Pete say as they walked out the door.

I just sat down and cried once they left. I didn’t cry because Madison insulted me, my designs or my shop. That stuff didn’t even matter. I cried because she treated him like shit and he didn’t deserve it. I cried because she didn’t deserve him and I cried because I wanted someone just like him.

“Adriana, are you ok?” Justina said

“I’m fine. I must be PMSing.” I replied

“Do you like Pete?” she asked

“No.” I said. “Even if I did, it wouldn’t matter anyway because he is with her and he apparently got your number.”

“I knew I knew it I knew it.” She said. “I didn’t give Pete my number, I gave him umm uhh..”

“Yeah whatever Justina.”

“Are you seriously mad at me?” she said. “Do you seriously think I would try anything when I already know that you like him?”

“I don’t know what to think anymore.” I said

“Just wait, you will see.” She stated. “Now, go fix your make-up.”
I fixed my make-up and did the rest of my work as if nothing happened earlier that day.

The girls wanted to come back to my place for a weekend party fest and sleepover. I wasn’t to keen on the idea because I just wanted to be sad all alone. I didn’t want to go out or do anything. I only said it was ok for them to come over because I didn’t want to disappoint them. I know it sounds horrible but sometimes I just had to get away from them. I knew we would end up having a great time anyway. Hopefully they could snap me out of my shitty mood.

I closed the store at about 7pm because we had to clean the huge mess Madison made in the fitting room. By the time we were done, we were exhausted.

“What do you want to do tonight?” Taryn said

“How about we stay in, order some sushi, watch a few movies and just chill.” I said. “Tomorrow we should go out to a club.”

“Yeah that sounds great because I am too tired to go out tonight.” Justina said.

“Me too, but do you realize that we are only 23 and we sound like 50 year old women. ‘Oh, i'm tired. Blah, blah, blah.’” Taryn said
We all stared laughing. This night was getting better already. When we arrived at Trump Tower, we got out of the cab and I paid the driver. We got on the elevator and took it up to my penthouse. When we got to the floor, I saw a dozen red roses in a vase on the floor in front of my door.
I picked them up and looked at Justina and Taryn.

“We didn’t do it.” They said at the same time with a smile on their faces.
I had a feeling they knew something about this.

“Just read the card.” Justina said very excited.

I took the card out slowly, wondering who would be sending me flowers.
I read the card and it said, “I think I figured it out.”

“Oh my god!” I exclaimed

“What?” they said

“These flowers, they’re from Pete.”

“We knew it. He likes you and you like him.” Justina said.

“Pete and Adriana, sitting in a tree. K-i-s-s-i-n-g…” Taryn sang

“Speaking of kissing.” I said

“Adriana, you didn’t.” Taryn said

“I didn’t, he did. I was taking him to the bathroom and he pushed me into my office…” I told them the whole story.

“Holy shit, I can’t believe it. Was he a good kisser?” Justina asked.

“Actually, yeah. It may have been the best kiss of my life.” I swooned.

Just then, my cell phone rang.
“Adriana Santoli, how can I help you?”
“Adriana, how are you?” the voice said
“I’m fine. Who is this?” I asked
“It’s Pete.” By this time I had the phone on speaker so the girls could hear the conversation.
“Did you get m special delivery?”
“Yes, thank you, they are beautiful. You didn’t have to do that.”
“I know I didn’t have too, I wanted too.”
“It was so sweet and unexpected. I just have to ask you one thing. The card says ‘you figured something out’, what is it that you think you figured out?” I said trying to act flirty.
“How about we discuss it over lunch tomorrow?”
“That is not the best idea. I have plans and you have a girlfriend.”
“How about you cancel your plans and just trust me. I don’t want to talk about everything while your friends are listening.” He laughed.
“Huh, what?”
“Playing games I see.”
“How did you know?”
“I know a lot of things.”
“You think you know a lot of things.” I laughed “But you did know my address. How?”
“Don’t worry about it. Just be ready at 11:30.”
“Ok, bye Pete.”
“Bye sweetie” he said.
With that we hung up.

“Oh my god. He called you sweetie. Taryn said
“Yeah he did” I giggled.
“We need to pick you out something hot to wear for tomorrow. Something sexy but still casual because god only knows where he is taking you.” Justina said

I think they were more excited than I was. I was more nervous than anything else. What did he figure out, why did he send flowers? I had all of these questions running through my head. Why was I so nervous about going to lunch with Pete? I was never nervous about going out with guys, famous or not. But for some reason, there was something different about Pete, something I haven’t seen in a long time.

We went in my room and raided my closet for an outfit. After the girls making me try on hundreds of things from jeans and tops to skirts and different shirts, we decided on a dress. It was low cut, empire waist, black and white kimono dress with round toe stiletto knee boots.

“Adriana, you look bangable in that outfit.” Taryn said.

“Hell yeah, who wouldn’t want you? Your body was made for couture.” Justina said

“Guys, you are too sweet. I love you two, I don’t know what I would do without you. Now, let’s go watch some movies and eat sushi.”

We sat down in front of the TV and ate our California rolls and vegetable tempura. We watched “A lot like love”, “A walk to remember”, and “In her shoes” before we decided to go into bed. Justina and Taryn slept in my bed with me because we still wanted to talk a little bit before we went to bed.

“What do you think Pete wants to talk about tomorrow?” I said

“I don’t know, but it is probably something good if he sent you flowers.” Taryn said.

“Yeah definitely. I bet he is going to ask you out.” Justina said

“Um I think he already did, fucktard.” Taryn said.

“I mean ask her to be his girlfriend.” Justina defended.

“Ok, no he is not, he has a girlfriend. Do you not remember that beast?” I said laughing. “I bet it’s a business meeting. He probably wants to do a Beautiful Lies/ Clandestine collaboration.”

“Oh please, why is everything all business with you? All business and no pleasure can drive a girl insane. Go get some pleasure girl.” Justina said.
We all laughed and soon fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning all refreshed. It was 8 o’clock so I jumped in the shower. When I got out I woke Justina and Taryn up.

Justina was set on doing my hair, so I let her take charge of it. She blew it out straight and put loose, thick curls at the bottom. Then she picked the top up into a faux hawk.

“You were born to be a hairdresser. Everything you do looks like it was done professionally. You should really look into doing hair for celebrities.” I said

After my hair was all sprayed and fixed to perfection, it was time for my make-up which I told Taryn she could do. It was perfect. Very light for daytime but still stunning enough to bring out my features.

Then I got dressed in the dress we picked out last night. As I was finishing putting on my accessories, the doorbell rang.

“Is it 11:30 already?” I asked

“Yeah it is.” Tayrn said.

“Can you get the door so I don’t look to eager?”

“Sure” she replied.

I finished putting everything on and walked out of my room.

“Wow Adriana, you look amazing.” Pete said.

“Oh, thank you.” I replied.

“Are you ready to go?” he asked

“Yes I am.”

“Bye lovebirds, don’t stay out to late, we have a busy night of clubbing to do.” Taryn said

Pete and I laughed and walked out the door.
