nice, I like the use of music, it helps to be familiar with said music, but thanks to youtube, thats possible.. name for a mountain lion, I got nothin.Author's response
I try try my best to keep it to music that was out wt the time the story takes place. It always annoys me when people include songs by bands that were in middle school when the book takes place. An American Wizard in Hogwarts

Hmm, for Matt, how about something straightfoward like "Tawny". For Harry's nickname, "Shadow" would fit, but methinks something ike "Knightgard" would sound good and fit his personality. I'd suggest just plain "Knight", but that's been used already.
Definitely an interesting Christmas holiday for all concerned. It'll be interesting to see what the second semester brings.Author's response
I'm actually right now torn between Murgatroy and Hellcat, I'm loath to use Tawny, as I considered it at one point but I was reminded of a pornstar or stripper on the Maury Povich show named Tawny Peaks. An American Wizard in Hogwarts

Hey this is a great story. I like the whole matt, hermion and luna thing. also usually cant stand straight canon like stories where the first and other years is told exactly like the books did but yours is cool you kinda have the stuff in the background. Also aint luna a hoot! and about the usa, GO TEXAS! hahahahaha and yes since a certain president did come from the certain state called arkansas which is kansas with a ar in front of it, that ought to explain the whole in thingy!Author's response
Just one problem with Texas...Dubya calls it home.An American Wizard in Hogwarts

Murgatroy would work (though I thought it was Murgatroyd that Snagglepuss always mentioned ;) ). Of course, Stalker would work, too (might be appropriate given the situation in California where the humans are pushing into the mountain lions' territory and then are upset when their pets, and occassionally they, themselves, are stalked by these same cats). Given how quietly big cats move, "Softpaw" could also apply - and who'd connect that name with a guy whose hands are hardened from farm work?
Eh, there are others of us, here, that live in Texas, too (in my case, "American by Birth, Texan by Choice"). Heck, I used to live in Waco (retaurant that was down the street catered out at his place a number of times) and it's not that big (I swear it has a "rush minute", not a "rush hour") and worked at the field AF1 uses there. I reckon we disagree on politics, considerably, and I'm going to try and keep mine out of my replies.Author's response
Softpaw sounds better than any I could come up with, and there haven't been many suggestions. I guess I'll go with that one.An American Wizard in Hogwarts

An excellent story! I enjoy your take on an Americanized Harry. I like how he interacts with Matt and Hermione as well. You've also done a great job at adding Luna to their group. Hmmm, has Malfoy actually learned to keep his mouth shut or is he just waiting for help from daddy dearest? As for animagi names, how about Talon or Ghostwalker for Matt, and Windwalker or Aquila for Hermione? Maybe Shadowdancer for Harry? Perhaps you could base their names on literary or mythological models of the animals. Anyway, thanks for writing this!An American Wizard in Hogwarts

As for your rants, Your story!! 'nuff said! As a South Texan, I to am very proud of our country and am personaly glad to see a little bit of America in the story.
As for names how about these for Matt.
