After waking up from the best sleep she had in months, she pulled on yesterday’s clothes and walk out into the living room. Patrick was already up. Patrick was always the first one up. He sat at the kitchen counter with coffee steaming from the pot beside him. Without a word he waved a mug at her and she nodded. He poured her some coffee as she threw herself onto the couch. Sure, in retrospective 7:17 a.m was not really that early but considering the day she had yesterday she would have been grateful to be able to sleep through today.

All the makeup that was smudged around her eyes last night was now gone and staring into her naked eyes was like watching a masterpiece being created. A flicker danced around the bright aqua shine.

‘Good Morning’ Patrick beamed, handing her the hot mug and then coming to sit down next to her.

‘Morning…’ She grumbled, attempting a smile but failing.

‘What are you doing today?’ He asked, trying to make conversation

‘Work,’ She sighed, taking a sip of hot coffee that she so desperately needed, ‘You?’

‘Same,’ He yawned and stretched, sneakily edging a little closer to her, ‘I’ve got to write some music for the next album, so I’ll be at the studio most of today.’

She turned her head and looked directly at him. He was wearing some casual jeans and a hoodie with a hat placed slightly askew on his head. His hair stuck out from random places and fell gently around his now glassesless face.

‘Which studio are you going to?’ She asked, drinking some more

‘Studio L.E.M.O’ He played with the zip of his hoodie absently

‘I work there,’ She grinned into her cup, catching his smile from the corner of her eye

‘Really?’ He asked, ‘I guess I might see you there then?’

‘Doubted…’ She mumbled in annoyance, ‘I’m there to clean only so I’m hardly actually around the booths’

‘Oh…’ He sounded disappointed but she just shrugged it off, ‘Well… Would you like a ride there?’

She shook her head, not wanting to inconvenience him.

‘It’s not far,’ She gazed at her knees, ‘Thanks… But I’ll walk.’

‘Nope,’ He insisted, ‘I’m going to drive you. It’s freezing out and besides, I’m going there anyway so it’s not really a problem’

‘Thanks Patrick’ Her lips twisted up at the ends and her blue eyes shone at him, catching his breath in his chest.

‘You’re welcome’ He exhaled slowly,

‘GOOD MORNING WORLD!’ Pete yelled from his room

Pete was an insomniac so when someone else was awake then you could guarantee that he was ready to annoy the crap out of him or her. This morning his victim was Patrick. Galloping into the room Pete dived into Patrick’s lap. Patrick tried to prize him off but Pete was surprisingly heavy considering how short and skinny he was. Patrick scowled.

‘Off, off, off’ Patrick cried, pushing at him with every syllable he muttered.

‘No, no, no’ Pete pushed back and naturally, he won ‘Morning Princess’

She’d missed his nickname for her. In fact, she was surprised that he remembered after all this time.

‘Morning Panda.’ She sneered, ‘There’s hot you look today’

His hair was sticking up everywhere around his head and he looked really really tired. Not his expression, but the bags under his eyes said otherwise. She poked him in the gut, causing him to wiggle furiously in Patrick’s lap and making Patrick yelp out in pain.

‘Peter Kingston Lewis Wentz The Third, get your bony ass off of me!’ Patrick called in between laughing

‘Awww,’ Pete’s faked sadness, ‘You’re no fun’

He hopped out of Patrick’s lap and landed hard in Frankie’s. She exhaled sharply, taking this as a sign that he would potentially crush her, Pete shifted down so that his head rested on her knees.

‘So…’ Pete closed his eyes, feeling totally relaxed, ‘What are you doing today sweetness?’

‘Working’ Frankie replied, poking him again, ‘And what are you doing you lazy bum?’

‘Less of the ‘tude missy’ He scorned playfully, ‘I could kick you out of my house at anytime you know’

She punched him lightly in the arm.

‘Nuh uh’ Frankie poked her tongue out then turned to glance at Patrick, ‘Patrick wouldn’t let you, would you Trick?’

‘No way,’ Patrick tickled Pete’s feet, ‘In fact, I think she should replace you Pete. I mean, she hasn’t called me Patty or Pat once.’

‘Urgh…’ Frankie grimaced, ‘I wouldn’t call you Pat. That’s my mom’s name’

Pete burst out laughing and clutched at his sides. Patrick crossed his arms and with one hard shove Pete rolled off the couch and onto the floor.

‘So… not…cool…’ Pete wheezed when he’d calmed down

‘No… You’re not’ Patrick said flippantly and checked his watch, ‘Eight O’ Clock, Time to go Franks. Say goodbye to your little friend and we’ll be going’

She leaned down and kissed Pete’s forehead. Pete smiled, that was until she licked up his cheek. Face contorted into a look of disgust, he wiped at his cheek furiously.

‘He’s not my friend’ Frankie chuckled, Pete looked a little disappointed until she added, ‘He’s my brother’

‘Bye sis.’ He waved from the floor.

‘See ya bro!’ She answered before following Patrick out of the door.

Patrick turned his head slightly and watched her smirking to herself. He loved her smile already. Sweet with a hint of wickedness. Like a little kid. He desperately tried to push these thoughts away but they remained right at the front of his brain. She caught him watching her and smiled at him. His chest tightened slightly and felt himself blush. Praying that she didn’t notice he pulled his hat down over his face and buried his hands in his pockets. He hoped to god that he would stop thinking about. He wished that these feelings would go away.
