I think putting Harry in Hufflepuff is brilliant - it will make his enemies underestimate him, and you could have a little triangle between Harry, Luna and Ms. Cecelia Diggory.
N!Author's response
- Unfortunately Cecelia was a 7th year during the Tri-Witch Tournament and has left school for her career...Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

this is one of the better chapters. I dfwould have like to see harry in ravenclaw, if only so that he could be near Luna, but I am glad that he became a puff. Looking forward to more.
bmatAuthor's response
- I was going to put Harry in with the 'claws, but I realized that only thing I would gain from that is easy(er) access to Luna, which might make Harry's fixation for figuring out why she appeared to be the exception to the gender rule too easy to satisfy.
- the 'puffs will get him away from the Trio, and make him work for his time with Luna.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

wow thats a weird read. I caught one error though
"The kind that makes boys fathers angry and girls happy…"
should be
"The kind that makes boys mothers angry and girls happy…"
Author's response
Nope, it's right as written. Don't forget the Gender Roll flip.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

I was taking the gender role switch into account. As I see it would normally be fathers worrying about the virtue of their daughters. Thus the flip side of that would be mothers worrying about the virtues of their sons.
The reversal in gender roles does leave me wondering about child rearing though. A large part of the gender roles deal with child rearing and I wonder what "equipment" changes there are to reinforce the role reversal.Author's response
- No equipment changes. Women birth babies, but men, since they are more nurturing, raise them.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Great story, dimensional travel and sex changes! Two plots in one! Although sad that there won't be any HrH in this one.Author's response
- Well there is, sorta kinda with Orestes and Harri...Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

"The kind that makes boys fathers angry and girls happy" -- small goof there, to keep your universe straight, shouldn't it be make boys' mothers angry?Author's response
Nope. The care giver fathers would worry about their son's reputations, while their mothers don't want any girls around them at any time because they know what disgusting little perverts they are, having been one her self... Only after one thing those girls...Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

You keep referring to Veronica Weasley with male pronouns.
Also, while matriarchal societies exist, certain social characteristics of gender-bias have biological roots. It's the gender that doesn't get pregnant that does the risky stuff, and so males are valued for bravery more than women who stay at home to rear the young. The males can't nurse the children so you can't change this gender role. Thus, male gonads are the symbol of bravery.
Rules of courtship have a lot to do with making sure of the father of the baby (the mother being known), without using dna testing or magic, because inheritance goes by father. If inheritance goes by mother, the father of a baby doesn't matter so much so the woman being a virgin before marriage doesn't matter so much, so a woman being "easy" doesn't matter. Thus is a matriarchy boys wouldn't develop a bad reputation by sleeping around.
Also, a single chemical is linked to aggressiveness and facial hair. If your females are aggressive (not just by social contract but naturally aggressive) they should have deep voices and beards and not have tits.Author's response
- In this universe, sure. In the one I'm writing about, not so much.Harry Potter and the Distaff Side

Again, Luna alluded to a boy being unhappy that a girl didn’t want to dance with him at the Yule Ball. 90+ % of teenage boys could care less about the dancing as long as it leads to kissing, groping and hopefully nakedness. The blatantly reversed gender bias here falls flat because no matter how much you try to draw a direct connection between the two different universes, Men and Women are different in how they react. A fashion obsessed giggly female Patill may have been unhappy Harry ignored her, but a Male would only have cared that the female look good on his arm.Author's response
- Perhaps you missed it, but we are talking about a completely different universe.
- Applying your gingoistic this Universe-centric thinking to it is a tad prejudicial.
