Chapter 67-

“So, are you going to tell me what happened when you disappeared for more than ten minutes, or are you going to leave me guessing for the whole weekend?” Scarlet asked as her brother Daniel set up our tent for the weekend.

“I’ll tell you in my own time okay?” I whispered, not really comfortable having his conversation with Scarlet’s brother around.

“Okay. Okay. Fine. Cranky bitch.” Scarlet muttered, walking away.

“I heard that!” I said loudly.

“Whatever. Hey! You wanna start now?” Scarlet smiled cheekily, holding up a bottle of vodka.

“Take me away!” I sang, waltzing over to her and taking the bottle off her.

“This is gonna be good.” I said to myself taking a swig at the bottle.

I laughed louder as Scarlet’s giggles increased.

“Who the fuck runs into a tent?” Scarlet laughed.

I laughed harder and shrugged.

“Come on, it was bound to happen to one of us sooner or later. It just happened to be me first.” I joked.

“It was like a fucking sling shot! You just ran into it and bounced back!” Scarlet laughed hysterically, making wild hand movements.

“How much have you girls had to drank?” Daniel asked, standing in front of us with his hands on his hips.

“Not that much. Honestly.” I said, calming down a little.

“Ah huh. I saw you run into the tent Rachel.” Daniel said unconvinced.

Scarlet started laughing again.

“It’s dark okay? And the tent doesn’t exactly glow in the dark does it? No. It’s made of dark colours, so that makes it even harder to see.” I said in a matter-of-fact way.

“Yeah. You keep thinking that.” Daniel said, grabbing the bottle off a still hysterical Scarlet.

“Hey! What the fuck?” Scarlet said angrily.

“I think you’ve had enough for tonight.” Daniel said forcefully.

“You said we were allowed to get drunk! Mum even said I could! Now you’re fucking taking it off me?” Scarlet said, making a sad attempt at the bottle.

“Yeah, I said drunk, not fucking wasted. Keep arguing and you won’t get anymore for the weekend.” Daniel said sternly, placing the bottle on the table.

“Bitch.” Scarlet muttered as Daniel walked off.

“Not very nice to talk about your favorite brother like that Scarlet!” Daniel called out.

I snickered.

“Shut up bitch.” Scarlet said, throwing a stick at me.

“Oh real mature Scarlet!” I screamed, throwing the stick back.

“Says the one that throws the thing back!” Scarlet said loudly.

I shrugged and sat back in my chair.

“Are you going to be like this the whole time?” Scarlet asked.

“Like what?” I asked.

“Little Miss Self-Contained.” Scarlet replied.

I looked at Scarlet, not giving her an answer.

“Yesterday when I suddenly up and left, Gerard had sent me a message saying he wanted to talk to me at the back oval. So, I went there, and we talked.” I explained, shifting around in my seat to get comfortable.

“What did you’s talk about?” Scarlet asked.

“We, well I decided that it’s probably best if we’re not friends at this point in time… And, we made it official. We’re not together anymore.” I said sadly.

“Rach.” Scarlet said apologetically.

“It’s fine. I’ll get over it.” I said forcefully, not really wanting to talk about the subject any longer.

Thankfully, Scarlet got the hint.

“How hot is Dan’s friend?” Scarlet whispered, leaning in so only I could hear.

“Scarlet, he’s twenty-two!” I said loudly.

“So? That’s only what? A bit over four years?” Scarlet said evilly.

“No Scarlet. Just, no.” I said, shaking my head.

“Why not?! Come on, you have to admit even just slightly he’s hot.” Scarlet said.

“I’m not saying he’s not. He is, kinda. But you try anything on him, and you see that river there? Yeah, you’ll be in it.” I threatened.

“Why? Someone jealous?” Scarlet teased.

“No.” I smiled.

“You are so! You want him bad! Oh my god, I’d at least think you’d get over Gerard first before you jumped into bed with someone else!” Scarlet said loudly.

“Will you shut the fuck up?” I hissed.

“It’s true isn’t it?” Scarlet asked, leaning back on her chair with her arms folded over her chest, feeling somewhat happy with herself.

“For the last time no! I don’t want anyone at the moment besides Ger-” I hissed, stopping myself as I grew wide eyed.

“Gerard. You were going to say Gerard.” Scarlet said unbelievably.

“Yeah, I was.” I said, hanging my head down.

“I miss him Scarlet.” I whispered, a stray tear slowly trailing down my face.

“I know ya do Rach. And I can tell, he misses you two. It’s only been what, not even three days and you two are already falling apart. You’s two need each other. You can’t live without one another.” Scarlet said, getting off her chair and kneeling in front of me.

I sniffled quietly.

“I don’t even know why you broke it off with him, yeah he fucked up, but when you really think about it, he didn’t really go that far, what he did kinda is forgivable. You want to take him back, I know you do, so why don’t you just do it?” Scarlet said softly, resting one of her hands on my thigh.

“I honestly don’t know Scar. I just, I just feel that if I take him back that I don’t know if I could trust him as much as I used to.” I confessed.

“But that’s something you could work on.” Scarlet said urgently.

It fell quiet.

“It’s your decision Rachel. But, just think about what your feeling. I can tell, I know you well enough to know that you’re not really feeling angry or hurt towards him for what he done, you’re feeling hurt towards him because you’re not with him.” Scarlet said, standing up and slowly walking away.

“I’m going to bed, I’ll see you in the morning.” Scarlet said sweetly, ruffling my hair as she walked past.

“Night Scarlet. Thanks.” I mumbled.

“Anytime… Goodnight Rach. Try to get to bed before the sun comes up.” Scarlet joked, earning a small smile from me.

I leant back in my chair and stretched my legs. I closed my eyes and breathed out loudly.

Maybe Scarlet was right? I should consider my feelings. Yeah, I’ll admit, I wasn’t really angry or pissed off at Gerard for what he did, and I did want to get back together with him. But there was something stopping me. Something stopping me from rushing over to Gerard, kissing him forcefully and telling him what an idiot I was for breaking up with him and that I needed him.
