Let It Be, Let It Be
10 reviewsRemember the days of the old school yard, we used to laugh a lot.

The rest of the night seemed to fly by. After leaving the hospital, Joe went straight home. Because it was only nine at night, he switched on the television. But the minute his exhausted body flopped onto the sofa, he fell into a light but much-needed sleep.
The ringing chimes of his doorbell woke him. He stumbled to the door, letting sleepy yawns escape his mouth. He twisted open the door knob with a drowsy expression that soon turned into a smile.
"Mel!" he couldn't help but brighten up when he saw her petite frame. "How do you know where I live?" he added with a weary laugh.
"I have my ways." she said as he welcomed her in. She took a look around the inside of his modern room. She had expected thier to be clothes and other random items strewn all over the place and a hell of a lot more Star Wars.
"You look tired." she pointed out.
"You sort of woke me up." he admitted.
"Really?" she replied. "I'm sorry."
Joe shrugged it off. "Don't worry it about." he added shaking his head. He lead her trough each room by room, giving what he called 'the exclusive tour.' "And here we have my kitchen." he announced.
She laughed as her eyes wandered across the walls. "Your sink is unnecessarily big." she pointed out.
He laughed and stopped. He picked up a plastic fruit from a near-by bowel. "Watch this." he raised his eyebrow in a way that matched his mischievous grin before dropping the fruit in the sink.
"Wow, it's amazing." she said sarcastically, trying not to laugh."But, I don't get it."
He shook his head disappointed and pointed at the sink. "The fruit is in there." he explained. "In sink. Like the band."
She rolled her eyes but couldn't help let out a giggle "Are you serious? That was terrible."
"Then why are you laughing?" he challenged."I bet you were a 'N Sync fan."
"Are you kidding me? Of course I was." she replied, glowing with enthusiasm. " 'N Sync were the most amazing thing ever to happen to music."
"Please tell me you're joking." he groaned.
"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not." she giggled.
Joe folded his arms as a smirk began to grow. "This is really scary but I can actually see you at a 'N Sync concert."
"Really?" she laughed. "You know that's weird because I can really see you there too."
Joe opened his mouth in a sarcastic 'I'm so shocked' way. It wasn't a good look for him but for some reason, Mel chose this time to lean towards him and kiss him.
**-The Following Morning
Mel kept her eyes closed as she snuggled herself deeper in the comforting blankets. But then, in the midst of the warmth and the darkness her wide smile abruptly faded away. Her eyes opened in shock and sat up in the dimly lit room. But, it wasn't a room in her house.
She found herself covered with blankets, spread out on a couch. But, it wasn't her couch. A tiny crack of the door was opened where she could see Joe's hair jump around. She gulped as she unsteadily jumped on to her feet. Nervously, she opened the door and entered.
Joe spun a round and gave her smile before the toaster popped.
"Hi." she said timidly as she took a seat on a barstool.
"Morning." he greeted. "How was your sleep?"
"Good."
"That's good." he handed her a plate of breakfast and took a seat next to her.
Mel stared down at the heaped dish in front of her. Her mind raced as she tried to recall everything that had happened the night before. First they were kissing and then they put on a movie and then they were kissing again. Her brain went into overdrive as she kept her memories flowing.
Joe shoved a spoonful of sugary cereal down his throat. "You're quiet." he pointed out, his mouth filled.
She shrugged, tugging a strand of her brown hair behind her ear. "I guess."
"I'm going to see Amy and Trickster later." he went on. "I think I'll go around three, which leaves me around five hours to do other shit. You wanna' come?"
"Maybe." she murmured, still concentrating. Her back stiffened when the memories came back to her.
The scenes played in her mind like a movie, first Joe pulled off her shirt, then they kissed some more and then she practically ripped his pants off. Mel sunk lower in her chair and couldn't help but blush.
"I know what's going on." he sighed. He placed his spoon down and gave her a comforting hug. "I'm sorry if this is awkward."
She shook her head but no words came out.
"Are you sure? I mean, you seem so quiet."
"You said that."she mumbled.
"Is there something wrong?" he asked.
Mel looked up bashfully at him. "We had sex last night, yeah?" she blurted out.
Joe shifted in his chair. "Uh, yeah."
"Thought so." she muttered.
Joe put down his spoon again and gave her another hug. "Mel, please don't be embarrassed or whatever. I'm not never going to talk to you again."
Mel giggled. "I know." she said, sighing.
"Wait," Joe sat up straighter as he studied her face. "That wasn't your first time, right?"
Mel stared at him for a moment before bursting out in a fit of laughter. "Oh, hell no."

Andy yawned and scratched at his itching leg as he stumbled into his small kitchen. He ripped the November sheet off his wall calender and stared lazily at the upcoming December events. Christmas obviously stuck out, as did New Years but one day in particular shone. December 1st. The day he was currently living.
In small loopy writing, the words 'first met- nine years back' were printed in a pink pen. Andy bit down on his thumb-nail as he closed his eyes. Before Caitlin passed away, he never cried. Now, here he was getting all teary. He pulled the phone out of the cradle and ferociously pressed down on the buttons.
"Hello?" Pete said into the receiver.
"Pete, it's Andy" he said, keeping his voice low. "What are you doing?"
"Uh,I'm doing nothing."
"Could you come over, now?" he asked in a breath. "Please?"
"I suppose." he yawned. "Is there something wrong?"
"I'll explain when you get here."
"Um, okay then. I'll see-ya later then."
"Yeah, see-ya."

Patrick gazed out dreamily through the hospital nursery window. His eyes had been fixated on a sleeping Kaitlin for the last half an hour or so and he had no plans on moving. It really did amaze him how obsessed he was.
Up ahead, a large group of people headed towards Patrick. They swarmed around him and spoke to each other in annoyingly loud voices as the gawked at the rows and rows of cribs. Unfortunately, it wasn't soon before thier rude and obnoxious behavior killed Patrick's state of peacefulness. With a defeated sigh, he walked away and joined Amy in her room.
"Morning Amy." he greeted cheerily."Have you considered how cool Kaitlin is going to be?"
"Not yet." she said with a weak smile. "But I bet she's going to be pretty damn cool."
Patrick slid down next to her. "She's gorgeous." he replied. "Just like you."
Amy rolled her exhausted brown eyes."You're hilarious." she replied in as much sarcasm as she could muster up.
"I know, I should be a comedian."
"Please don't." she laughed.
"Oh, now don't you go making jokes." he warned.
"I'll do whatever I want."
Patrick put his hand on her cheek as he kissed her. Every time he kissed he, he felt like the luckiest guy in Chicago. Now, he felt like the luckiest guy on the planet.

"Thank you so much Pete, seriously. " Andy went on as he slipped on his shoes and grabbed his keys. "Cam already ate so don't worry. I promise you I won't be long, maybe an hour. I think."
Pete shook his head. "Nah, take your time. " he ordered. "Everything is going to be fine."
"Okay," he sighed looking around the room. "See-ya Cam."
"Bye Dad."
"Take as long as you need, alright." Pete reminded.
"I'm scared to say 'I trust you'." he joked.
Pete frowned. "Aw, c'mon. Seriously, nothings going to happen."
"Pete I was kidding." Andy explained. "I trust you."
"Good." Pete smiled. "Now, bye." he shut the door behind him and skipped back to Cameron.
"Hi Pete," Cameron greeted. "What are we doing today?"
Pete shrugged as he collapsed on a chair. "What do you want to do?"
As soon as Pete had asked the question, Cameron had already began answering. "I really, really wanna' go to the park."
Pete yawned and looked outside. It didn't look like type of day to go to the park but then again, it didn't look completely terrible. A thick strip of fluffy clouds were covering up the sky except a tiny, tiny beam of sunlight. "Okay."
"Really?"
"Yeah, just go get your shoes and jacket and then we can go right now."
Cameron leaped to his feet and raced to his wardrobe. He pulled out numerous items of clothes and flung them around. Before Pete had even got off the chair, Cameron was already standing around waiting at the door.
"You were fast." Pete replied, tugging on his shoe. The breezy, misty scent floated through thier nostrils as Pete locked the door. He put Andy's spare key in his back pocket as they began thier walk.

Andy pulled his car to a stop across the road from the cemetery. He felt weird and shaky as his unsteady legs strolled along the rows of gravestones.
"Hey Caity," he replied, sighing. He sat himself down on the grass, trying to hold himself together.
A man with long hair and a bushy beard walked up and down with a bunch of red roses in his hands. He looked lost and confused. Across from him, an older women held onto a marble grave stone tightly. Her loud sobs echoed through the sky. A lump formed in Andy's throat.
"I'm sorry Caitlin," he murmured. "I can't do this. Not here. I can't talk to you here, I can't cry here. I just can't."
The long-haired man began running towards a rose-covered grave and hugged it happily. The woman stroked the grave sadly before getting up and briskly walking away. She almost tumbled over a small, young-looking girl with a single iris.
"Please, don't hate me." Andy continued. "I just can't do this here in front of people. I'm weak, I know. Please, don't hate me." He stood up and stared intensely at Caitlin's grave."I feel like such an idiot. I didn't bring anything. I'm so sorry, baby."
Andy wiped away the water that was lining his eyes. "I love you." he whispered.
The long-haired man began singing The Beatles. The young girl sat cross-legged up against a grave. Andy gave a comforting smile to each of them as he trudged back to his car. His hands were plastered on the stirring wheel as tears streamed down his cheeks.

Pete nodded his head as he tried to register all of the things Cameron had just said. "Okay, so, let me get this straight, you're Batman?"
"Yeah."
"And, I'm a Ninja Turtle,"
"Yeah."
"Whose trying to kill Batman." he finished.
"Yeah."
"Wait, why am I trying to kill Batman?"
"Because," Cameron scoffed. "The Ninja Turtles fell in a tub of chemicals and turned into bad guys and tried to rob a bank. But then, Batman saved them and now one of the Turtles escaped and wants to get Batman."
"Oh yeah, " Pete winked. "I knew that." he lied.
Cameron chased Pete onto the playground and raced after him. Pete wasn't exactly sure what game they were playing but it was fun.
"Watch out Batman," Pete said standing between the swing-set and the slide. "I've got a fire-gun thing and I'm not afraid to use it."
"Nah, Batman's got the flame-gun." Cameron protested.
"Oh," Pete laughed before launching back into character. "You'll never shoot me, Batman!" he said before running away again.
It would of been a clean getaway too, if a girl wasn't standing behind him. She tumbled to the ground as Pete watched in shock.
"Oh,my god," he said. "Are you alright?"
The girl slowly rose to her knees. She looked around thirteen and annoyed. "I'm fine." she muttered.
Pete helped her up to her feet while a woman came rushing towards them. "What happened?" she asked quickly to the girl.
"Mom, I just fell," the girl replied, dusting grass stains off her jumper. "I'm fine."
"Did this man hurt you?" she gave a quick look in Pete's direction which caused him to shiver. Who knew a pretty woman could scare him this much?
"No, Mom."
The woman glanced at Pete again. "I-I didn't do anything," he said defensively. "I swear."
The woman and her daughter went to walk away. Pete watched in shock and in awe. The woman turned back round to face Pete once more while the daughter joined another group of people.
"Hi again." Pete squeaked. He wasn't sure if he was going to get yelled a again.
"I'm sorry about before," she said, taking a step closer towards him. Now that she wasn't angry, Pete's whole body relaxed.
"It's cool." he replied, letting off a tiny smile.
"Can I ask a really personal question?"
Pete nodded his head. "Go right ahead."
"How old are you?"
"Thirty-eight"
"I'm thirty-five." she replied happily. "Are you single?"
Pete's heart was racing. He wasn't sure if the conversation was going where he wanted it to go but he was excited anyway. "Yeah." he admitted.
"What are the odds, I am too." she replied smiling. Her short brown curls waved around her in the wind.
"Wasn't that your daughter though?" the curious side of Pete took control. The curious side of Pete also wanted to know where Cameron was.
The woman smirked. "You don't have to be married to have a daughter."
"Yeah, I-I know." the woman was making him feel nervous again.
"Do you always stutter like that?"
"Sometimes."
The woman's hazel eyes sparkled. "Whats your name?"
"Pete."
She rummaged through her bag and pulled out a pen and a tiny scrap of paper. She scribbled onto it before handing it over. "Call me sometime." she said before turning around and going to join her daughter.
Pete stared at the paper. His insides were glowing and he was smiling. According to the paper, the womans name was Anna and if the number she had given him was correct they would be speaking again very soon.

Eventually Andy, Joe and Pete all ended up at the hospital. Andy had arranged to meet Pete there with Cameron and Joe and Mel ended up arriving around the same time.
Joe smiled as he surveyed the room. He just felt so happy inside, he wanted to take it all in. "Hey Pete?"
Pete turned his head to meet Joe's eye. "Yeah."
Joe smirked. "Do you remember when I hated you?"
"Yeah," He laughed. "You gave me a black eye."
"And you got blood in my carpet." Patrick added.
"Um, ew." Mel replied, grimacing and giggling at the same time.
"Oh, and remember Lana!" Joe went on. He quickly glanced at Cameron before continuing. "She was a word starting with 'S' and ending in 'T'."
"Throw in a 'L' somewhere." Andy helped.
Amy chuckled before leaning over to Patrick and playfully smacked him across the head.
"Hey, what did I do?"
"Remember when you guys left to go on tour? You abandoned a pregnant woman." she said letting out a laugh.
"Abandoner!" Joe teased.
Pete shook his head and laughed. "Yeah, but Amy that first show we did was awesome."
"All of them were awesome." Andy said.
"See, I left an awesome tour to come back." Patrick said. He kissed Amy's cheek and smiled. "I love you." he added.
"Amy, you should of seen him," Pete smirked. "He was freaking out."
"Pete tells us he threw up." Mel added.
"Oh, thanks Pete." Patrick replied sarcastically.
"You're welcome." he smiled. "You know, I am so glad I called you up, Trick. Because if I haven't of called you, we wouldn't be sitting here right now."
Patrick, Joe and Andy nodded thier heads in agreement. They smiled at each other and in each of thier heads, they were all thankful for Pete making that phone-call.
