Chapter 18: Time Together
The next few weeks went by fast. Bobbie and Patrick either seen or talked everyday. She was excited to be going to Los Angeles. She had never been there. She was almost packed when Patrick came to the door. “Hey Patrick. I’m almost ready. Come in.” He stepped into the living room. He seen a journal on the end table. He knew he shouldn’t read it, but the temptation was to great. He watched to make sure she wasn’t coming.
January, 2007
I seen Patrick today. I know now that I still love him. He is so handsome. I want him back. I wonder if he has a girlfriend. What am I talking about? I’m going to be getting married and I want another man. Why did I ever leave him? He meant everything to me.
January, 2007
Brody and I went to a club. Patrick was there. I seen him with a girl that I thought was his girlfriend. She’s Pete’s. Anyway, Patrick almost kissed me. But Brody showed up and basically dragged me away from Patrick. He wants to get together. I can’t tell Brody. He’ll flip. He’s been nasty to Pete and Patrick. I shouldn’t be thinking of Patrick.
January, 2007
I went out with Patrick last night. It ended badly. Brody was at the same restaurant. They got in a fight. I had to finally pull Brody off of Patrick. Poor Pattycakes. His face looks awful. I broke up with Brody. I was planning on it anyway. Patrick spent the night. I dreamed of the baby again. She said to give Patrick another chance. I don’t know if I can. I want to. I love Trick so much.
January, 2007
Trick came over for supper. We had such a nice time. We made out. I miss his touch, smell, kisses, everything about him
“Patrick Martin Stump, what the hell are you doing?” Bobbie grabbed her journal. “Uh, Um.” “Save it.” “Bobbie, don’t be mad.” “Don’t be mad? You were reading my journal.” He went to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “I’m sorry. I know I shouldn’t of read it.” “What did you read?” “How you have fantasized about Pete for 5 years and want nothing to do with me.” “Patrick, I’m serious.” “All I seen was from when we met in the coffee shop. You dream of the baby too?” He knew the answer, but wanted to hear her say it. “Yeah I do.” “So do I. What does she look like?” “The baby is a girl for you too?” “Yeah.” “She has your blond hair.” “Greenish, bluesish eyes.” “Your lips.” “Your nose.” “Do you think we are really dreaming of the same baby?” “Of course. Did you ever name her?” “Yes. Hailey Grace Stump.” “No, how can that be?” “What?” “That’s what I named her.” Patrick, this is scary.” “Unbelievable.” He sat on the couch. “Why do you think we dream of the same girl and named her the exactly same name?” She sat next to him. “I have no idea. She’s something isn’t she?” “Yeah.” Bobbie smiled. “We better get going or we are going to miss our plane.
Patrick drove to the airport. They boarded the plane and sat in their seats in first class. Bobbie was never in first class. “Are you excited?” Patrick asked. “At this moment, I’m scared. I don’t like flying. I should of mentioned it.” “Just hold my hand. Things will go fine. I’m by your side.” She grabbed Patrick’s hand as the plane started to move. “Uh, Bobbie?” “What?” She was looking out the window. “Can you let up on my hand a little? I’m losing feeling.” She looked at him. “Oh, I’m sorry.” Soon they were in the sky. They arrived in Los Angeles around 9:00 am. “Pete is going to pick us up. Let’s try and find him. He’s probably late as usual.” They laughed. They got their luggage. Pete was waiting for them. “Hey guys. How was your flight?” “Good. Glad to be back again. But Chicago will always be home.” Patrick said. Pete dropped them off at Patrick’s. Megan and Bobbie were going shopping later in the afternoon.
“Patrick, your home is beautiful. I love it.” “Thank you. But it misses a woman’s touch.” She smiled at him. She was by the fireplace. She noticed that he had a picture of the sonogram and a picture of them together. He was just like her. He kept the memories of them. “Let me show you to your room.” He took her suitcase and they walked upstairs. “Here we go. Hope you like it.” “It’s beautiful.” There was a queen size bed with a dresser. “There’s not much in here, but I don’t have too many guests.” “It’s very nice.” “Do you want to rest?” “Yeah, I’m a little tired.” “Okay. I’ll be downstairs if you need anything. Oh, the bathroom is right next door and if you need anything during the night I’m right across from you. I’ll wake you before Megan gets here.” “Thank you.” Patrick closed the door behind him. She got into bed and fell asleep.”
“Mommy, wake up. I want to talk to you.” “Hailey. How are you?” “Really good. You and daddy are getting close.” She smiled and had a twinkle in her eyes. She had Patrick’s smile and that same twinkle he gets. “Yes, we are. Your daddy misses you too.” “I know. We talk to. And yes you and daddy see me both.” “Really? I can’t believe this. It’s so amazing.” “Daddy is really happy. He hasn’t been happy since I left and you left. You make him happy. Thank you for giving him another chance. He’s going slow for you. He doesn’t want to mess things up.” Bobbie smiled. “Hailey, do you know how smart you are?” She laughed. “My mommy and daddy are smart people.” “We miss you so much.” “It wasn’t my time to be with you. Mommy, daddy is coming to wake you up soon. Tell him I love him and miss him. Also, give him a kiss for me and you.” “I will, sweetheart.”
“Bobbie, time to wake up.” She opened her eyes to see Patrick. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. He fell on the bed with her. He slid his tongue into her mouth. “Mmmm. Bobbie, what’s that for?” “For being you.” She then kissed his cheek. “And that’s from Hailey. I had a dream about her.” “Really? Did she say anything about me? “Yes, she says that she misses you and loves you.” He had tears in his eyes. He got up and sat on the bed. Bobbie hugged him. “I miss her. It’s crazy. I don’t know her, just what I dream. I haven’t dreamed of her for awhile. Sometimes I think I’ve seen her for the last time. I want her with us.” “Oh, sweetie. Remember she is always with us.” “I know.” He wiped his eyes. “Pete and Megan will be here in a few minutes.” She got ready and went downstairs. Pete and Megan were already there.
“Hi Bobbie.” “Hey Pete.” “This is Megan.” “Hi, I’m Bobbie. It’s nice to meet you.” “Same here. Do you want to leave these boys and have a girls day.” “Yeah.” She laughed. Meagan went to kiss Pete. Bobbie didn’t know if she should kiss Patrick. Technically they weren’t dating. What the hell, she thought. She went up to him and kissed him. “See you later.” “Here you go.” He gave her some money. “Thank you. Have a nice time with Pete.” He watched her leave.
“Things going good.” Pete said. “Amazingly good.” Patrick went and got a water. “Are you dating or just friends with benefits?” “We are taking things slow. The other night she wanted to go all the way. I was stupid and said no. But I know it was for the best. I don’t want her to regret it or things go like last time. God, I want to sleep with her so bad though. Just the smell of her makes me hard.” “You got it bad.” “Enough of me. How are you and Megan?” “Good. We are so much alike its kinda scary.” “Yeah, one Pete is enough for the world.” Pete punch Patrick in the arm. “Lets get something to eat.”
Megan and Bobbie went to a little café for something to eat. After they ordered, they talked. “How long have you and Patrick been dating?” “Actually, we aren’t dating. We did date in 2001.” “Oh, the way Pete talked you two were dating.” “We are close to start dating again. We are just taking things slow this time. He means the world to me.” “Well, you two make such a cute couple.” “Thank you. You and Pete do too. How long have you been dating?” “Six months. I can’t believe how long already. The time has gone by fast.” “How did you meet?” “At a coffee shop. I was working and he kept coming in everyday asking me out. Finally after a month I said yet.” “Are you from Chicago or here?” “Chicago. I couldn’t stand living here on a permanent basis. L.A. is just to different for me.” Their food came and they ate. Afterwards they went to find dresses. Three hours later they were done.
Patrick and Pete were at Patrick’s when the girls arrived. “Can I see your dress?” Patrick asked. “No, I want it to be a surprise.?” “Oh, alright.” “Megan, I had a really nice time.” “Me too. When we get back to Chicago we’ll have to go out.” “That would be great.” Pete and Meagan left. “Did you really have a nice time?” “Yes. She’s great and what Pete needs.” “Definitely. What do you want to do tonight?” “I don’t know. This is your town.” “I’ll always be a Chicago boy. Why don’t we take a drive and order some Chinese food.” “I’d like that.” The next day Patrick was on his garage band most of the day and Bobbie did some grading and planned some assignments. They watched a movie and went to bed early. Both were a little tired from the plane ride from the day before.
Bobbie woke up early. She didn’t hear Patrick so she went to his bedroom. His door was open. She went in. Patrick was lying on his stomach and his blanket was off of him. All he had on was his boxer briefs. She forgot what a great ass he had and what those thighs did to her. She crawled into his bed. She snuggled up to him. He turned around. “Hi Bobbie. What are you doing?” “Watching you.” “Are you ready for tonight?” “I’m a little nervous.” “Don’t be. I’m the one singing.” “I can’t wait. Are you performing one of the new songs?” “Yeah. We’re doing Arms Race. It’s the first time doing it live.” “You’ll do awesome.” They got up and had a late breakfast early lunch. Once they were done Bobbie started to get ready. She was nervous. She didn’t want to embarrass Patrick. Around 3:00 she was done and went downstairs. Patrick was already ready. He took her breath away. “Hello handsome.” He turned around. “Oh my god. You’re gorgeous.” He went to kiss her. “Oh no you don’t. I just put this lipstick on and you are not going to mess it up.” He laughed. “The limo is here. The rest of the guys and Megan are in it.” They left the house and got into the limo.
A hour later they arrived at the American Music Awards. They all got out of the limo. Megan and Bobbie had to stand out of the way while the guys did interviews and got their pictures taken. Once inside they found their seats. She sat next to Patrick holding his hand. She could tell he was a little nervous. Fall Out Boy’s performance was amazing. Patrick’s voice did things to her that only he knew how to do to her. She was memorized by him. After he came back she kissed him. “You did wonderful.” “Really?” “Don’t doubt yourself. I loved it.” After the show everyone went to a club. Around 3 am Patrick and Bobbie went back to his house. “Did you have a nice time?” Patrick asked. “Yes, I really did.” “Our flight doesn’t leave until 1:00.” “Alright. Can I ask you something?” “What?” “Um, can I sleep in your bed with you?” “Why?” “I don’t want to sleep alone tonight and I miss your arms around me.” “Alright. But no funny business.” He laughed. Bobbie went upstairs and got into her nightgown. Patrick was already in bed. She crawled into bed with him. “Are you tired?” She asked him. “A little.” “Thank you for letting me sleep in your bed.” “You know you didn’t have to ask. You’re always welcomed.” He had a twinkle in his eyes. “Patrick, when we get back to Chicago could we go on a real date? Like a boyfriend and girlfriend?” “Uh, yeah.” “Patrick, I want us together. I mean we are already closer than just friends.” “Yeah, I guess we are.” “So are we boyfriend and girlfriend again?” “Yes, but we will be moving slower.” “I know. Shouldn’t it be me that says that. I thought that all men just think about sex.” “Believe me it’s hard.” He smiled at her. “Come here.” She went into his arms. They just stared at each other until they fell asleep.
