Chapter 24: Bad Idea
“Eric, start your homework right away.” Bobbie and Eric got home from school. Bobbie put her bag down. She went to look for Patrick. She went to the bedroom. He was sleeping on his stomach. “Baby, I’m home.” She sat on the bed rubbing his back. “Trick, are you alright? Turn around.” “Something happened.” He turned around. “Oh my god. Patrick, what the hell happened?” She touched his face gently. “Pete and I got in a little fight.” “A little. You look awful. Does it hurt?” “Not too much anymore.” “What did Pete say?” “He kept saying he loved you and finally I think he sees that he loves you as a friend.” “Okay. Have you heard from him since this morning.” “No, I’m hoping him and Megan have made up. How’s Eric?” “Good. He’s doing his homework.”
She laid next to him. “It was a long day. Some of the kids were acting up a lot.” He leaned over her and kissed her. “Want me to rub your back?” Sure.” “Take your shirt and bra off.” “I’ll take just my shirt off.” “Come on.” Bobbie took her shirt off and laid on her stomach. “Can I at least unsnap your bra?” “Alright. But no funny business Mr. Stump.” “From me? Never.” He straddled her hips. “I’m not hurting you am I?” “No, not at all.” He started rubbing her shoulders and then her back making little circles. “Patrick, that feels so good. He moved down to her lower back. “Mmm.” She moaned. He rubbed her back for twenty minutes without any sound from her. He looked down at her, she was asleep. He resnapped her bra and covered her up with a blanket.
Patrick went to Eric’s room. He knocked on the door. “Come in.” “Hey buddy. How are you doing?” “Patrick, have you seen your face.” Eric looked worried. “Yeah, Pete and I got in a fight. I shouldn’t of hit him.” “Are you alright.” “Yeah. I’ll heal.” “Did Bobbie ground you?” “No, but maybe she should.” Eric laughed. “How’s your homework?” “Good. I’m almost done.” “Afterwards, you want to practice playing your guitar?” “Sure.”
A few hours later Bobbie woke up. She put her shirt on and went to the living room. “How are my favorite boys?” “Hi Princess. Enjoy your nap?” She sat on Patrick’s lap. “Yeah, I must have been tired. I’m sorry for sleeping so long.” “No problem. I made supper. We ate already. I hope that was alright.” “Sure. Thank you for making supper. Did you get the mail?” “Eric did. It’s on the table.” “Okay. I’m waiting for something from Gina.” She got off of Patrick’s lap and went to look through the mail. There was a letter from Gina. “Patrick, there’s a letter from her.” He came to her side. “They need to do a case study. They’ll be here at 4:00 on Thursday. You need to be here too.” “Alright. Are you nervous?” “Hell yes. I’m scared they’ll take Eric away.” She went to his arms. “We can’t think like that.” “I know. It’s just so hard with all this waiting.” “We’re going to get through this together.”
Just then the doorbell rang. Patrick went to answer the door while Bobbie got something to eat. She walked to the living room. “Oh, hi Pete.” She sat next to Patrick taking his hand. “Hi, how are you?” “Good.” “I was just telling Eric how sorry I am for hurting him last night.” Pete said. “Can you please forgive me also?” “I don’t know. Are you over with thinking you love me?” “Yes, I don’t know what got into me. I’m sorry.” “How is Megan handling this?” “Okay. We are still together, but its going to take some time to gain her trust again.” “I forgive you, but don’t ever pull this crap again.” “I won’t. Can I give you a hug?” “Sure.” She got up and gave Pete a hug. “Well, I have some papers to grade. I’ll leave you two talk.”
She went to grade some papers and later on Eric came out. “Mommy, it’s time for bed.” “Oh my gosh. I’m sorry, Eric. Are you all ready?” “Yeah. I brushed my teeth and told daddy and uncle Pete goodnight.” “Okay, let’s go.” Bobbie went to Eric’s room and read a little out of ‘Harry Potter’. He fell asleep right away. She went back to grading papers. Awhile later she felt Patrick’s hands rubbing her shoulders. “Want to go to bed?” “What do you have in mind?” “Me? Nothing.” She turned around. “I know you, Patrick. Ever since I came home today you have been trying to get in my pants.” “Am I that horny?” “Uh, yeah. Let me grade a few more papers and I’ll be in.” “Okay.” Bobbie finished the papers and shut off all the lights and went upstairs.
Patrick was asleep in bed. Bobbie got undressed and climbed into bed. She kissed Patrick and straddled him. She put her hands under his shirt, rubbing his chest. “Mmm.” He moaned. “Baby that feels good.” “Should I stop?” She teased. “Hell no.” She took his shirt off. Bobbie bent down and kissed each of his nipples and biting them. “Oh god, Babycakes. Do you have any idea what you do to me?” “The same thing you do to me.” She smiled. He reached for her breasts, running his fingertips over her nipples. “Patrick.” She threw her head back. She grabbed his boxers and took them off. She slowly got on top of him. He slid inside of her. “Trick, I love you so much.” She moved on him and placed her hands on his chest. “Baby, I’m coming.” “Hurry, Patrick.” He thrust up inside of her. She collapsed on top of him. “Oh my god. That was amazing.” She rolled off of him. “Patrick, I love you. Do you realize how much I do?” “I think I might.” He kissed the top of her head. “I’m so happy that I met you. We’ve been through a lot, but deep down I knew we’d be together.” Bobbie said. “I love you, Bobbie.” “I love you more.” They fell asleep in each others arms.
By the time Thursday came Bobbie was full of nerves. She didn’t know what to expect. When her and Eric got home they both changed into some better clothes. Patrick was at the Studio. At 3:30 he still wasn’t home. Bobbie called his cell. “This is Patrick, leave a message.” “Patrick, where the hell are you. The case worker will be here in a half hour.” She hung up. “Damnit Patrick.” Eric came into the living room. “Where’s daddy?” “I think he’s still working. Don’t worry.”
The doorbell rang. “Hello Gina.” “Hi Bobbie. This is Mr. Walker, the caseworker.” “Hello, I’m Bobbie Madison. Come in. We can go to the living room.” They walked to the living room. “Hi, you must be Eric.” “Yes.” Eric shook Mr. Walker’s hand. “I believe your boyfriend is also filing.” “Yes. We are getting married in two weeks. He’s working right now. I know he was going to be here. Something must be keeping him.” “Oh, okay. Well, I do have some questions for you.” “Eric, why don’t you show me your room?” Gina said. “Bobbie, you’re a teacher?” “Yes, grade four. I love it. I know I made the right decision to go into teaching. That’s where I met Eric.” “What does Patrick do?” “Um, he’s a musician.” “Does that pay a lot?” “The band is successful. He’s the singer and plays guitar for Fall Out Boy.” “Oh, my three daughters like them. How long have you two been together?” “We dated for a year when I first came her in my first year of College. And now it’s been a few months. We just knew we belonged together” “Will you be staying here or move once the adoption process goes through?” “As far as we know we probably will stay here. We don’t know what the future holds. Patrick does have a house in Los Angeles, but he uses when he has to work there.” “Okay. How was your childhood?” “Alright. My parents divorced when I was young. I lived with my mom.” Mr. Walker asked a few more questions and Bobbie showed him the house. “Thank you for being honest with the questions. Tell Patrick to call me and he’ll have to come and answer some questions.” He handed her his card. “Okay. Thank you.”
After they left she went to Eric’s room. “Hey Eric. Do you want to go out for Pizza?” “Sure. Are we going to get Daddy?” “No, it’ll just be you and I. Get your jacket.” Bobbie went to get her jacket and purse. The went to a local Pizza place and got a cheese pizza. While they were waiting Bobbie got a call. “I’ll be right back. Stay here.” Bobbie went in the hall to answer the call. “Hello?” “Hey Babe. I’m so sorry.” “Your fucking sorry. I had to explain why the man who wants to be Eric’s father wasn’t there for the interview.” “I got caught up here.” “Is that what your going to tell Eric when you miss his baseball game or play. You really hurt me. I thought we both wanted this.” “I do. I don’t know what else to tell you.” “Patrick, I don’t know if I can marry you if this is going to happen. I understand that you have your job, but this isn’t a small thing. It might determine whether we get Eric.” “Bobbie, calm down. You aren’t thinking straight. I was late for one appointment.” “One very important appointment. I need to get back to Eric.” “Where are you?” “We went to get pizza.” “We’ll talk about this more when I get home.” “And when will that be?” “Uh..” “Never mind. Talk to you later.” She hung up.
She went back to the table. “Was that daddy?” “Yeah. He’s still working.” “Are you mad at him?” “A little. He was suppose to be at the meeting today. It was very important.” “Will you forgive him.” “Of course. Why don’t we get him a pizza and stop by the studio.” “Okay.” Their pizza arrived and they ordered one for Patrick. “Are you ready?” “Yeah.” They got in the car. “Don’t forget to buckle up, Eric.” Bobbie drove onto the highway. “Can I listen to daddy?” “Sure.” Bobbie smiled. Eric put on the CD. Patrick’s voice rang through the car. ‘Where is your boy?’ Next thing Bobbie seen was lights coming her way. She couldn’t get out of the way in time. The last thing she thought about was she didn’t tell Patrick she loved him.
