Chapter 28: Famous Last Words

Patrick and Eric were in the waiting room. It was 3 hours since Bobbie was brought in. Patrick was just staring into space. He couldn't believe they were back at the hospital. The doctor finally came. "Can I talk to you in private?" "Sure." Eric was sleeping on Patrick's lap. He moved him so he wouldn't wake up.

"How is she?" "Actually, she is doing great. She has a bump from her fall, but everything else is fine. Her blood pressure went down and that is why she passed out. Bobbie is awake and wants to see you." "Okay. Le me get our son." Patrick got Eric and they walked to Bobbie's room.

"Hi Baby." "Trick, I'm sorry for scaring you. You too Eric." "I'm glad you're fine. I thought it was my fault." "No. I got dizzy and passed out. But I have something to tell you both." "What?" Patrick asked. "When I hit my head something snapped in my brain and I remember everything." "Are you serious?" "Yes. I remember going shopping for my wedding dress, your proposal, your fight with Brody. Everything." Patrick took her face in his hands. "I love you." He kissed her. "Um. I'm still here." Eric said. They looked over at him. "Come here." Bobbie said. "And I remember taking you in and adopting you." Eric smiled. She kissed him. "Speaking of, how are things going with the paperwork?" "They are putting it on hold. They wanted to wait until things got better. I am still on the papers otherwise they probably would have taken him." "Thank god." She hugged Eric.

Dr. Aarons came in. "So, I heard what happened. How are you feeling?" "Really good. My head hurts, but I remember and that's all that counts." "I want to keep you the night. You can leave tomorrow. Just for observation." "Okay." "If you need anything let the nurses know." "Thanks."

Patrick sat on her bed. "I'm so glad you are feeling better." He pushed her hair behind her ear. She smiled at him. "Pete should be here. I asked him to watch Eric for awhile." "Okay." In a hour Pete came and Eric went with him. Patrick and Bobbie talked for a few hours.

"I want you to go home tonight. I'll be fine." "Are you sure?" "Yes. I'll be okay. Honest." "Alright. I can't wait until we never have to see this hospital again." "Me too. Patrick, I want to ask you something." "Sure, baby." "Since we missed our wedding date, I want to get married as soon as possible." "Are you sure. You just got your memory back." "I haven't been more surer in my life. I want to be your wife." He smiled. "We'll check things out tomorrow." "Okay." She kissed him, sliding her tongue in his mouth. He cupped her breasts. "I missed this, Trick." "Me too." A nurse came in. "Sorry to disturb you, but we need to do vitals. Plus, visiting hours are over in a few minutes." "Oh, okay. I'll see you in the morning." "I love you, Patrick." He kissed her.

The next morning Patrick got Eric ready for school and went to the hospital. Bobbie was already to leave. "Hey, how are you feeling?" "Good. I want to go home." "I have some good news. I called the church and they can marry us in 2 weeks. Do you want it that soon?" "Yes. Call them and tell them we'll take it." Patrick made the phone call. Dr. Aarons came in with forms and they left.

When they got home they made phone calls to some family and friends, got a hall, flowers, and a photographer. The next few days went by fast. The did a lot of planning. They were having supper with Patrick's family. They didn't tell them yet and wanted to in person. They were going to his mom's and his dad and brother were going to be there. Patrick knocked on the door. His mom answered. "Hi Bobbie. I'm so glad you are feeling better." Patricia said. "Me too. We brought some cookies." "Thank you. Hello Eric. How are you doing?" "Good. Is grandpa here?" "Yeah, in the living room." He went into the living room. "Hi mom. How are things?" "Good. Your brother is here." "Okay. Do you need any help?" "No. You both go into the living room." Bobbie and Patrick went to the living room. "Hi dad, Kevin." "Hey you two." Bobbie hadn't seen Kevin since that first Christmas. "Bobbie, dad has been filling me in." He got up and hugged her. "I'm so glad you are feeling better." "Thanks." She was still uncomfortable around him. He was nothing like Patrick.

There was a knock on the door. "That's probably my girlfriend." Kevin went to the door. "He's got a new girlfriend?" Patrick asked his dad. "He doesn't talk about his personal life. I have no idea who she is." Kevin and his girlfriend walked into the living room. "Here she is. The love of my life." Patrick and Bobbie couldn't believe it. It was Allison. "What the hell?" Patrick said. "Son, calm down." "You know who this is?" "Yes, but not in front of Eric." Eric looked worried. He could tell Patrick and Bobbie were upset.

"How have you been, Allison?" Dave asked. "Good. I'm working at a law firm, so I'm busy." "That's good. How's your folks?" "Good. My mom was in the hospital, but doing better. That's where I seen Patrick and thought I would get back in touch with Kevin." She looked at Kevin. Patricia came to the living room and had a surprise look on her face. "Oh, hi Allison." "Hi, Mrs. Stump." "What are you doing here?" "I'm with Kevin." "Oh, call me Patricia. Everything is ready." Everyone went to the table, but Patrick and Bobbie stayed behind. "Are you alright with this?" He asked. "No, but we'll get through this." "I don't know what he is trying to pull or her." "Let's just have a nice meal and tell your mom and dad our news." "Alright." They got to their chairs and ate.

The conversation was a little strained. Bobbie didn't say too much. Allison was talking about when her and Patrick were dating. Bobbie was getting sicker by the minute. "Remember Pattycakes when we went to the State Fair. That's where you first kissed me." "Yeah." Patrick was picking at his food. Bobbie placed her hand on his thigh. She whispered, "Tell them." "Mom, dad, Bobbie and I have some news." "Oh, what?" "We are getting married next weekend." "Oh my gosh." Patricia stood up and hugged Bobbie. "I'm so happy for you two. I didn't want to ask about the wedding. If you need any help, I'm here." "Thank you." "Same here." Dave said. "You really going through it baby brother?" "Yeah, why?" "Well, Allison said that you and her were together while Bobbie was in the hospital. Don't you have to be faithful to your wife?" "What Allison didn't tell you is how I threw her out. If you want to start this, let's go outside. Not in front of my son." "Just asking. Calm down Patty." "How are the plans going?" Patricia asked. "Good, we have a lot done already. We are just having family and a few friends." Bobbie said.

After they ate, Kevin and Allison left. "I'm sorry, baby." Patrick said hugging Bobbie. "It's alright. They are probably just trying to get back at us." "I love you." "I love you more." He smiled. "I'm going to help mom with the dishes and then we can go home. Go in the living room." "Okay." "Patrick?" His dad said. "Yeah?" "I just want to tell you how proud I am of you. If it was me, I would of punched Kevin. I need to talk to that boy." "It's alright. Thanks though." "I'm going to go. If you need anything, let me know." "Okay, bye."

Patrick helped his mom with the dishes and they left. They went home and Eric went to bed. Bobbie put him to bed and went to the living room to Eric. "Hey, Tricky." "Hi, how are you doing?" "Okay. A little tired." "I meant about tonight?" "It was a little difficult, but we made it through." She smiled. "Let's go to bed." She grabbed his hand and they went to bed.
