Harry opened his eyes after the portkey pulled him into a large vortex. Miles and miles below him he could make out a mass of land that looked much like earth without any cities, buildings, or any type of man made structures. As he fell closer he began to notice the landscape became clearer. He saw the land mass was unremarkable except for the large river system he was falling towards. It reminded him of a butterfly. There were several rivers that coursed from his left from different points throughout the continent. They met in one space near the center of the continent before breaking off again and setting hundreds of different courses along the right side of his vision. He broke through a layer of clouds and noticed that the rivers were silver, not blue, or a muddy brown. As he slowed his descent the liquid reminded him of Dumbledore’s pensieve. Every time he tried to alter his course towards land a force pulled him closer and closer to one or two of the numerous rivers. Finally, he accepted his fate and realized that at the most he would have to swim out of the rivers once he descended. He hoped for a deep place to land.

Harry took a deep breath as he felt he was about to impact with the water. With a gasp that brought his eyes wide open he realized he was nowhere near a river. Instead, he was sitting in a muggle restaurant with three empty spots around him. He looked out the window and saw the golden arches of a McDonald’s. Harry checked to see that he still had his wand before he turned to inspect his surroundings. He saw nobody that he knew and focused on his table. The meals around him were two kid’s meals and one grilled chicken salad across from him. Muttering to himself, “One wife, two kids... is this my future?”

A familiar voice laughed behind him, “No, love, it’s your right now!”

Harry turned to see a mildly pregnant Hermione walking hand in hand with a girl and a younger boy. The girl was an amazing combination of Harry and Hermione with green eyes, brown curly hair, and a bucktoothed smile. She looked to be around seven years old, while her brother looked to be around five. He looked like the spitting image of Harry.

“Dad, did you finish putting ketchup on my chips?” the little girl asked.

For a second Harry did not know how to respond but quickly gathered himself, “No, sweetheart.” and turned to the burger to his right. He squeezed the bottle and put the liquified tomatoes over the chips. The kids dug in and began chatting among themselves, while Harry could not take his eyes off them. He knew how to be a dad, and looking at those two he realized it would be hard not to love these two kids. Parenting came natural to him, so he knew he could bluff his way around the kids. Hermione, will be the challenge. How will he hide who he was to her? He needed to find out exactly what the hell happened to him, and how he could ever get back to his Ginny and his family. The first thing he needed was to find out what date it was. He had to find out how far in the future he was, then try to get back without doing too much damage to the time/space loop. Chuckling he thought how much of a headache time travel could be.

“Harry?” the brown haired witch asked, “You haven’t said anything the whole time.”

“I’m just lost in my thoughts.” He tried to pass off a pensive smile before he chuckled at his carbon copy putting two straws in his mouth and acting like a walrus.

He avoided her eyes but he could tell from Hermione’s demeanor that he did not completely sell the act. He watched out of the corner of his eyes as she crossed her arms in her ‘I see a problem and I will solve it’ manner. Eventually, the family was finished with their meal and Harry led the way out of the restaurant. He dug in his pocket for some change and found just enough muggle change to buy a newspaper from the bin. “Dad,” his daughter said, “Why are you buying a muggle newspaper? The pictures don’t even move.”

He smiled as he looked into the green eyes and said simply, “Variety is the spice of life, so why shouldn’t I buy one?”

Harry hung back to let Hermione and his newfound kids lead the way. He had no clue how he was getting home. Then the thought struck him: he did not even know where home was. Shaking his head to keep the priorities straight he sought out the date. The paper was dated June 14, 2002. Stopping in his tracks his brain almost had a melt down. That was five years ago. He was married to Ginny nearly a year before this date.

“Harry...” a voice edged through his haze, “HARRY!” the voice broke through as Hermione his best friend... scratch that, wife was shaking him to get his attention. “Harry, are you ok?” she stopped for a second and stated, “You’re so pale.” she put her hand to his head and looked at him in concern.

“Hermione, I think it’s best you drive.”

Harry barely registered the trip home as he winded their family winded their way through the English countryside. He looked up as they pulled off a road towards Ottery St. Catchpole. Finally, something that was familiar, or so he thought. He looked up to the hill where the Burrow was supposed to stand. Instead there were ten monuments on the hill where the home once stood. He tried to choke down any emotion but his eyes began to blur from the tears.

“Harry, I’m really worried about you.” Harry looked to Hermione and saw the genuine concern in her eyes. Could he trust her with his problem? Did he dare? Of course he could. Regardless of what ever happened, Hermione was always the one friend he could trust. However, he had to wait until they reached home.

“I’ve got to talk to you about something. Let’s get home first.” he gave a pointed look to the back seat and Hermione’s eyes grew wide but she simply nodded and faced the road.

Less than fifteen minutes later they pulled into their driveway of a small, unassuming home that radiated warmth. “Go play kids, your dad and I need some time to talk.”

With the small chorus of “Ok’s” the two were off to the backyard. Hermione opened the door and then instantly turned to her husband, “You’re scaring me, Harry. Please tell me there’s not another woman.”

“What? No! That’s not it...” he paused and thought, “Merlin, I hope I wouldn’t do that.”

“Well, what’s wrong?”

He led her to a table and they sat down. “Hermione, I have no clue where to start.” he chuckled, “I guess it would just be easier if we had learned Legilimacy, it would make this job a great deal easier.”

Hermione held up her hand and stated, “But I.. I mean we... do. You made sure we both knew the mind arts before we went on the Horcrux hunt.”

“So, I know Occlumency too.”

“Yes, your shields look like the Forbidden forest during a dense fog. You have tons of traps built into every path....” she looked at him oddly and slowly pushed her chair back from the table, “But Harry would know that.”

Harry closed his eyes and breathed slowly. He focused inward and could tell that what she said was true. His mind was a perfect trap for anyone trying to invade his thoughts. Opening his eyes he looked at Hermione, “I’m going to lift all my traps and I want you to go straight into my mind. Then we will talk.”

Hermione locked into his mind and they sat there unblinking until she finally broke the contact. “Oh merlin, Harry!” she reached over and gave him a warming hug, “you are so lost.”

“Do you have any clue what is going on?” Harry asked his Hermione.

“Well, we need to get some facts straight.” She grabbed a pen and paper and drew a line down the middle. “First of all, what year are you from?”

“2007.”

“But, that’s in the future.” she mused, “If you were time traveling then I would have been married to you then...” he looked up to Harry and asked, “Were we married?”

“No.” he said shaking his head.

“Never?”

“Never, ever.”

She scribbled something down on one side and then a few words on the other side. She put the quill of the pen to her lips and worked out her words to form the next question, “Wait a minute, was that Ginny I saw you with right before you were pulled in by the portkey?”

“Yes.” he said with a glimmer of hope. “Do you think we can get her here? Maybe she can tell us where she got the chain and charm.” Maybe her monument was not on that hill.

Hermione’s concentration broke and she opened her mouth then closed it as she measured her words, “Harry, I’m sorry, Ginny and the other Weasley’s died at Bill’s wedding.” Her eyes brightened and she wrote some more things down quickly, then tapped the notebook with the pen before she looked up and ordered, “Harry, concentrate and think of your life in order. Put as much as you can remember in order from start to now.” She watched him close his eyes and then once he reopened them she said, “Ok, now I’m going back in.” they locked eyes again and after sifting through his memories she broke contact. “Wow.”

“Wow? Is that all you can say?” Harry asked incredulously.

“Harry, every thing that you remember is exactly the same as what happened to us... that is until Bill and Fleur’s wedding. The differences are subtle at first, but the consequences are deadly.” she paused before writing down a phrase. “Yes that’s about right,” she said to herself. She looked back up to Harry and said, “You see, your memory of that night showed Kingsley’s patronus showing up. My memory is of McGonagal’s cat patronus coming to warn us. In your memory Minerva was at the service, in mine she was with Kingsley when the attack came. So she sent the warning. Something probably happened on her end that delayed the warning in my remembrance.” she showed Harry the paper she was working on, “So, that one incident acted like a dividing point...”

“Wait! The rivers.” Harry said suddenly.

“Rivers?” Hermione asked as she tried to understand what he meant.

“Yeah, after the portkey sent me into the portal, the land below me had this large river system...” he took the notepad and drew what he remembered. The different rivers on his left side that meandered and bent upon each other until they met at that central point, then they just as quickly deviated from that central point to numerous branches on his right. “It looked like this.”

Hermione studied it momentarily and nodded her head, “This makes sense.”

The room was silent as Harry debated asking his next question. “Hermione, what all happened that night?”

“Well, like I said the warning got there late, and you and I were the only one’s able to get out of the apparition wards. We apparated, but not before the Death Eater’s saw us, caught Ron and...” she had to pause as she steadied herself. It had been so long since they dwelt on these memories that she had forced them into a file far in the back of her mind. “The Death Eaters tied him to the altar and the bastard’s tortured his entire family in front of him to find out where we were going. When they were finished with them they would kill them one by one until Ron was the last left. From everything we were told he died as a hero and never told them a thing.” She looked to Harry and saw that he had bowed his head.

“Go on. Explain the rest.” he said emotionlessly.

“Well, we hid out at Grimmauld for months before we were able to get over the deaths. It was in our hunt that we fell in love.” she said looking away at her kids through the bay window. “We found the Horcruxes....”

Harry interrupted, “Was Gaunts necklace on the toad’s neck?”

Hermione nodded, “Yes.” Clearing her throat she continued, “We found our way back to Hogwarts and the final battle took place. Neville killed the snake and somehow he and Voldemort ended up duelling until you rose from your apparent death and took over for him. After the end of the war we married each other and went back to Hogwarts for our seventh year.” Hermione let him think about what he heard for a while before asking, “Is Ginny a good wife?”

Harry looked up and nodded.

They sat there for several minutes until Hermione took his hand. “I’m sorry, Harry. You seemed to have had it all. Your life seemed to have ended up in a storybook ending...”

He broke in, “In defense of your Harry, he seems to have his own storybook ending... It’s just a different writer.”

“Harry, I remember how much you and Ginny were in love... as much as I was also in love with Ron.” She took a deep breath, “I only wish he actually knew how much I wanted him to be my future... even if he drove me crazy!”

Harry started laughing and said, “Trust me, he still does!” He wiped a corner of his eye and looked up to Hermione.

“Will you tell me about my life with Ron?” she asked. Her voice betrayed her emotions. She tried to keep a stone facade but she was breaking inside. She had not thought of what her life would be like with Ron since she and Harry’s first child.

“Gladly.” The rest of the afternoon was spent telling tales of Ron and Hermione’s towering inferno’s that posed themselves as arguments. At sundown the kids (Harry found out their names were Ron and Lily) came running through the kitchen asking what was for dinner. Hermione and Harry held their conversations for later that night. Harry’s first inclination about the kids were completely on target. He could not help but love these kids. He gave each a hug before Hermione put them upstairs for the night.

With the kids securely asleep Hermione sat down on the couch and cast some wards at the stairwell. “There we can finish our talk without little ears hearing. Now, let’s talk about this little problem of yours.” she summoned the notebook she was writing on, “I need to see the portkey.”

Harry looked to his chest and pointed to it, “Here you are.”

“Where?” she looked to his chest. “I can’t see it.”

Harry wrapped his arms around his head and unlatched the hook then set it on the table. “Now?”

Hermione nodded, “Yeah, that’s incredible. There are some serious charms work on this... uh.. Charm.” Hermione looked up with a smile, “Kind of redundant, eh?”

Harry looked at her oddly and replied, “Yeah, but when did you become Canadian?”

“Oh shut it.” she turned her attention back to Ginny’s present and waved her wand over it several times. She reached down to pick it up before Harry could stop her, “No worries, I am pretty sure it has to be clasped around your neck to activate it.” She handed it back to Harry. “So do you want to try?”

Harry took it in his hand and nodded, “If this is goodbye, I want to thank you for your help. You have at least started me on the right path.” Not knowing why he simply leaned forward and gave her a warm kiss on her lips. “Sorry, I always wanted to know what that felt like.” he said coyly. Snapping the charm around his neck he waited and let it drop to his chest. It bounced off his breastbone and there was no pull at his navel or vortex sucking him into another dimension.

“Anything?” Hermione asked looking into his eyes.

“Nothing... I’m still me... I mean I’m still Harry from the other dimension.” Harry blushed a bit, “I guess my goodbye kiss was a bit premature.”

“Well, it was still as good as ever.” she said throwing a pillow at her husband. They sat there in awkward silence before Hermione stated the obvious, “This is quite awkward. I mean, you act like my Harry, but... you’re not him.”

“Do you think this is forever?”

“I don’t know.” Hermione took him by his hand and nodded to the bedroom, “But if we are going to pass this off we have to play our parts to perfection.”

“Hermione! I’m not ready to do that with you.” Harry said taking his hand from hers.

“I’m not talking about that. But, if we are going to keep our kids from figuring out that something is up, we have to at least sleep in our bed. They are our alarm clocks after all.”

“Ok.” Harry swallowed as he saw her wandlessly cancel the wards she placed over the stairwell. He looked at her oddly and asked, “We learned wandless magic?”

Hermione’s dimples appeared as she smiled slightly, “Yeah, we learned a lot together. Come on and I’ll teach all of it to you. Hopefully, it will all come naturally to you.”

Over the next week Harry found that it was fairly easy for him to pick up on the nuances of what Hermione was teaching him. He guessed it was because the Harry of her time had already learned these things. When she wasn’t teaching Harry the things he was missing Hermione was busy trying to research the chain and find out anything she could about it’s history, powers, and charms. By the next Sunday Harry had improved so much that he was able to glean thoughts off Hermione without her picking up on what he was doing. That night they sat on their couch with Ron and Lily asleep on their laps watching television when Harry moved his hand over to Hermione’s. He took her hand in his and nodded to the kids and then upstairs. She smiled and helped him take the slumbering Potter’s to their bedrooms. While upstairs Harry looked in on the nursery. Hermione came up behind him and rested her hands lightly on his shoulder. Harry turned slowly to her and leaned down to her lips and gave them a kiss. It started lightly, then deepened. He picked her up and carefully made their way downstairs. He turned the doorknob and carried Hermione to their bed.

“Harry,” she whispered as his lips broke from hers, “I don’t know if we should really be doing this.”

“Hermione, I feel a pull towards you. I do love you. I know you feel the same.” Harry kissed her neck and made her groan lightly, “If we are stuck together, then I want those kids to grow up in a truly loving home. I’m tired of acting.”

“But you’re married to your Ginny.” she fought back even though her hands needed him, worked their magic on his robes and ran up and down his chest. “My God, I want you though!” Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, maybe she reasoned that her Harry was probably making love to the other Ginny by now, but whatever thoughts coursed through her mind she gave in. Her robes were thrown to the ground, Harry wandlessly dispatched of her underclothes as she pulled his trousers off his body and tossed them onto the ground. She kissed down his chest and down between his legs. She took the throbbing head between her lips and began sliding his stiff flesh deep into her mouth. She savored the hormonal liquid that was seeping out of Harry’s dick. Pulling up she stood up and kissed her way back to his lips.

Harry’s hands were busy twisting and teasing her nipples with one hand while the other went lower. He separated her folds and began teasing her button. When it was wet with her juices he rolled her over and shoved himself into her. He was full of want, he tried to fight the latent feelings left over by the ‘other’ Harry, but it was a losing effort.

Hermione’s eyes rolled back between her eyelids when she felt her pussy filled with flesh. She arched her back and began rolling her hips with every thrust of her lover. She had a small climax when he moved his other hand under her ass and began pushing against her other opening. She opened her eyes when he raised his body off hers and put her legs around his hips and began driving into her once again. She instantly came and could feel her legs growing weary.

Harry was about to explode into his lover. Hermione’s groans and screams of ecstasy were driving him crazy and he began pumping harder and harder. Suddenly he felt the first twinges of pleasure rising from behind the base of his dick and within seconds it coursed through his body as he shot streams of cum into Hermione’s wanting pussy.

The next morning Harry began thinking about what was happening to his body and mind. He looked over to Hermione beside him and stated, “That was a wonderful night.”

“Do you feel any guilt?” she asked somewhat timidly.

“No.” he smiled slightly, “I don’t know if it’s me or if I’m channeling your Harry, but I’ve fallen in love with you. I see you as my wife.” he paused and turned towards her, “Just like I think your Harry sees Ginny as his wife.”

“Harry, stop talking about ‘my’ Harry and you. You are my Harry now. I don’t know if I’ll ever get that Harry back... so, I’ll love you just the same.”

Harry smiled and cuddled with his new love until the sound of little feet echoed through the house. The door to their room opened and two little heads peaked in, “Wake up!” Harry leaned up and pulled on some pajama bottoms that were beside the bed and kissed Hermione on the forehead, “I’ll take care of them. You sleep in.”

Harry fixed a nice sized breakfast for the kids and another tray for Hermione. It was a wonderful morning and after breakfast the family spent the day in Diagon Alley going from shop to shop. As the kids oohed and ahhed over the new broomsticks Hermione hugged close to Harry and leaned her head on his shoulder. All in all, it was a perfect day. They made their way to their home and after the kids went to bed Hermione looked over her bowl of ice cream and asked something that weighed heavily on her mind. “Harry, if you do ‘jump’ again, do you think you are prepared to do whatever you have to in order to survive?”

“What do you mean?” Harry asked putting down his paper.

“I mean, it’s possible that if you jump again, you’ll end up in many different situations.” She let the idea soak through his mind before prompting him, “You know you may end up boinking Myrtle or something.”

Harry tried not to laugh but was vastly unsuccessful. He did manage out a revolted, “Ooh, blech.” before he recovered. “I have thought of that. The different paths could put me anywhere. But, I’m hoping that I won’t have to go anywhere.” he looked around the house, “I kinda like it here.”

“I hope...” she began before shaking her head and looking back to her bowl of ice cream.

“You hope he is just as happy as I am?” Harry finished for her.

“Yeah.”

“I do too. I also hope Ginny is just as happy as you.”

They retired to bed that night in each other’s arms. The next morning was two weeks from his arrival and Hermione had found nothing new on the charm. As they sat at the lunch table joking with the kids and making Hermione laugh at their antics, he felt the charm grow warm. His eyes grew large and looked at Hermione with a bit of despair in his eyes.

“Harry?”

“I love you, Hermione.” he looked quickly to the kids and told them, “I love you two as well.” With those words he felt the pull into that vortex once again.

A/N: Ok, well here's the second chapter that I have offered up to the plot bunny gods. May they have fun with this one! Ok, well where to now? Do you think it will be a new dream life or a nightmare? BTW I own nothing but the plot. Please don't sue me J.K.
